Lone Omega

Aurora's Pov,

"You mean nothing to me!" Omega Laurence yelled, his voice shaking with rage. "You're a worthless, low-life slut!"

"It's not how it seems," I said, my voice barely above a whisper. "I'm sorry, I never meant to

Omega Laurence cut me off,

"That you slept with Alpha Raymond?" Omega Laurence hissed, his voice full of disbelief and anger.

"And you think you can just say it's not what it seems? You betrayed me and you dare to stand there and try to justify it?"

Despite my fear of what was to come, I was strangely at peace. I had never given my virginity to this man, and I was grateful for that small comfort. I would not cower or beg for forgiveness, no matter what he said or did.

"You know why this is so painful?" he snarled, his voice rising to a shout.

"It's because I had considered you as my fated mate, despite your low status. I was going to overlook that and accept you as my mate. And you betrayed me. You threw yourself at Alpha Raymond, trying to escape me. But you won't get away that easily. I'll make you suffer, I'll defile you, and then I'll leave this pack and never come back. You'll be nothing but a bitter memory, while I start a new life far away."

As he spoke, he pulled at my hair, yanking me back and shoving me against a chair. I tried to twist away, but he held me firm, his fingers digging into my scalp. I could feel my heart pounding, my pulse thundering in my ears. I was terrified, but I refused to show it. I would not give him the satisfaction of seeing me cower.

"You're nothing but a coward, hiding behind your anger and threats. You'll never get away with this, you'll never escape."

For the first time, I found the courage to speak up to my fated mate, the man who had made me feel so small and worthless.

"I'm not your pawn, and I'm not your victim," I said, my voice clear and strong. "I am a person with my thoughts and feelings."

Suddenly, Omega Laurence's hand shot out, striking me across the face with a sharp crack. The force of the blow sent me reeling, my head spinning. I could feel the warmth of blood trickling down my cheek, and my ears rang with the sound of the slap.

"No wonder you were abandoned as a child," Omega Laurence sneered, a cruel twist to his lips. "Your parents must have seen what a useless creature you would grow up to be, and decided to cut their losses."

I felt a surge of anger rise within me, and I found my voice again.

"My parents never abandoned me," I said, my words filled with fury. "My mother and brother are at home, waiting for me to return. They have always loved and supported me, and they always will."

He laughed, the sound harsh and mocking. "They're just trying to make you feel better, to make you think you're worth something while they keep using you," he said, his words like a slap to the face.

"Did they never tell you the truth?" he asked, his voice dripping with mockery. "My father told me when he was begging me to accept you as my fated mate. He told me that Richard and his wife aren't your real parents. And that's why they've never thought twice about the decisions they made for you, like forcing you to accept me when you wanted a rejection. I guess they made a deal with Alpha Raymond's father to get you off their hands." He laughed, a cruel, mocking sound.

Even though I wanted to deny it, a part of me wondered if it was true. Was that why my mother had always told me to bear with his abuse, insisting that he was my perfect mate chosen by the moon goddess? Had she cared so little about me, that she would sacrifice my happiness for gifts from Laurence's father, who was one of the richest Omegas? My heart ached at the thought, and I felt like I was going to be sick.

"No, it's not true," I managed to say, my voice barely above a whisper. "You're lying."

He just smiled and leaned in closer, his breath hot against my cheek. "I'll get away with whatever I want because no one wants you," he hissed, his words like a snake's venom."You have no power here, no one to protect you. And when I'm done, no one will ever find me."

The verbal abuse had become so commonplace that I barely flinched when he hurled his insults. The only thing he hadn't done was sexually touch me, though I was sure that was only because I had refused to submit to him. But in every other way, he had abused and belittled me.

"I may be worth nothing but I am happy I gave my virginity to an Alpha and not a low-life Omega like you," I said and he slapped me.

"You're still unmarked by him," he said, his voice filled with a sickening glee. "I could claim you as my mate for a few minutes, take what's left of you after your precious Alpha is done with you. How does that sound?" He laughed, a cruel, derisive sound that made my skin crawl.

I struggled against his grip, but he was much stronger than me. He shoved me to the floor, and before I could even cry out, he ripped my shirt open, exposing my bare skin.

I screamed in terror, but my screams were muffled by another voice, one that spoke with the authority of a thousand nights.

"Leave her alone," Alpha Raymond growled, his voice full of rage.

He rushed at Laurence, his eyes flashing with fury as his wolf's claws dug into the other man's face. Laurence let out a cry of pain, and I saw blood running down his cheeks. I wanted to scream for them to stop, but I was frozen in fear.

"Please stop!" I finally managed to shout, my voice breaking. "Please, you're hurting him!"

"How dare you lay your hands on a woman carrying my child?" Alpha Raymond bellowed, his voice thundering through the room. I froze, my mind reeling.

Was I pregnant? Was his seed growing in me? Or was he trying to instigate fear in Laurence? Alpha doesn't tell lies and he doesn't need to lie to a commoner like Laurence if at all.

"Please forgive me, Alpha," Laurence begged, his voice shaking. "I didn't mean to... I just got carried away. I'm so sorry, please forgive me."

"Take him away and lock him up," Alpha Raymond ordered his guard, his voice cold and hard. "I'll decide what to do with him later."

The guard nodded and pulled Laurence to his feet, dragging him from the room.

As the door closed behind them, I felt a wave of relief wash over me. But it was quickly replaced by a fresh surge of fear, as Alpha Raymond turned his attention back to me. He looked different now, his face softening as he approached me.

There was a sudden commotion at the door, and I looked up to see one of Alpha Raymond's guards burst into the room, his chest heaving.

"Alpha, I have news," he said, panting. "It's good news, I think."

Alpha Raymond fixed him with a sharp gaze. "What is it?" he asked, his voice sharp.

The guard took a deep breath, his eyes darting around the room. "We have news of Luna Evelyn," he said, his words halting. "It's... it's not what we thought."

"What do you mean?" Alpha Raymond demanded, his patience clearly wearing thin. "Spit it out, man!"

The guard cleared his throat, and I could see his hands trembling. "We have learned that Luna Evelyn is alive," he said. "She was not dead as we had feared. She was imprisoned by Alpha Reginald, but she is still alive."

I watched as Alpha Raymond's face went through a range of emotions, from surprise to joy to confusion.

He looked like he was at a loss for what to do, his mind racing to make sense of this new information. Finally, without another word, he turned and rushed out of the room, leaving me alone.
