Chapter 20

Ares POV

I have sent some scouts to Alpha Smith's pack, to keep an eye on things. He never seemed to be the kind of man who drops everything to meet his mate here. Why didn't he take her to his pack when he met her?

I was working in my office, with Carson beside me. He kept moving restlessly in his chair. He was slowly getting on my nerves.

"Can you please stop moving," I said with a growl.

He froze on the spot before he sighed, "when can I mark my mate?"

We both stared at each other for a moment. Before I could answer there was a soft knock on the door, saving me from this conversation.

"Come in."

Jamie entered with a beaming smile on her face, one that made my love for her grow. I didn't notice at first. But when I saw the bruise on her jaw, a vicious growl left my lips. I was beside her in a second, holding her face to the side.
