I leaned forward in my chair, staring at the back of Jett’s head. It was a mixed bag of emotions for me, the last thing I wanted to do was rub my good fortune in his face.

“The trip to the city will be good for us. It’s uhm, kind of a make or break situation for our relationship. We’ll be gone for about two weeks, maybe less.
