Lucy:

My entire night was like one giant rollercoaster of emotions.

Telling Leon what had happened had nearly sent me into an anxiety attack. I knew I had to tell him.

I couldn't have dinner with both my mates, Liam not even knowing I was his mate, with this big secret weighing over me this way.

Several things became more apparent to me through the night.

First, Liam and Leon may be identical, but they are polar opposites in personality.

Leon had a sophisticated sense about him that made me feel secure and understood, but Liam, on the other hand, was sensitive and free-spirited.

I was actually relieved to get to see this side of Liam without him knowing I was his mate.

It eased some of my concerns.

Liam was genuinely considerate of his company, mate or not.

He made sure that I felt comfortable, and I adored him for this. He cared about how others felt in his presence.

The waitress was a total hag to me, and he made sure I didn't have to continue to interact with her. He didn't miss

  • The Alpha's Secret Daughter   197 - Memory and Connection

LEON:Lucy wasn't seeing things straight. Her emotions were running in a thousand different directions, and both Seth and I were trying to gauge what to say.I hadn't been more worried about her being pregnant. It was more of a reaction to why she may have been acting so emotionally."What happened?" Trish asks.We had gotten Lucy back up to the room and made her lie down and rest.Jonie said Lucy didn't show any signs of being pregnant and that it was too soon to tell anyway.Trish sits down on one of the recliners across from the couch, settling in and looking very concerned.I spent the next several minutes explaining to Trish that Lucy thinks something is happening to her memories, that there was no contraceptive even though she had been so sure there was one, and that she had an emotional meltdown at the clinic."Oh, thank the Goddess you're back," Seth says as he turns his head.I didn't have to look back to know that he was talking to Rosie. We had both hoped she could ease Lucy

Liam:Leaving Lucy was like physically taking the air from my lungs, but I had to do this—for Lucy's sake and for whatever was happening. The group wasn't big, and I was thankful that Saul had joined us. His skills were needed.Stepping in for his father showed that he was ready to take on his role in the pack. The warriors respected him, and he would help keep things together. The further we tracked, the more I started to feel something dark, something deceptive.I couldn't quite place the feeling I was getting from our surroundings, but I knew that it was bad.'Do you smell that?' Bo asks, halting in his tracks, causing the rest of the group to do the same.We were certainly closer to the destination. Lucy was right, he would head straight into whatever hell he had come out of.Shifting back into our human form, I aligned all the warriors and began to set up camp. It had been getting dark, so I was thankful that we had finally reached a destination where we could stay."I had a bad f

Lucy:I had a lot of things I wanted to share with my mates, but with everything going on, it was hard to focus on anything at all."It's a portal," I explain, flicking my wrist again, the portal returning to me.Seth stands to the side, looking somewhat less than mortified."To where?" he asks."To wherever I need it to go. The only catch is that, from what I comprehend, I have to understand that location to some degree," I explain, hoping that makes any sense at all.Seth relaxes and walks over to me. His hands cup my face gently, but there is still a light trembling from his shock."I'm going to speak with Rosie. I was thinking we could distract Leon today by having him go over the books we found on Sirens while we take care of the rest of the arrangements," I suggest, after he kisses my forehead.***Things had mostly settled down around the pack grounds. I'm sure that no one has been informed that Zeak had "escaped".Once that information got out, there would be much to recover fr

Seth:'Why don't I stay here with Lucy? I don't think it's the best idea for her to see Zeak after having been drinking...' I link Leon.I watch as he looks around the room and his eyes land on Lucy's. He's contemplating what I'm saying.Werewolves aren't typically affected much by alcohol but that wasn't the case for Lucy and I didn't want this whole thing to turn into a mess."Go on," Leon tells everyone else before looking over at me and Lucy.Lucy is sloppily putting on her shoes and a jacket when she glances over and nearly tips into the coat rack.I watch as Leon walks over, grabs Lucy by the shoulders and sits her down on one of the small couches in the entry way."I'm going to take care of this and I'll be back soon," Leon says. He's taking the firm position that Liam would normally take, but he isn't here, and Leon obviously sees that this could be an issue as well.I watch as Lucy pouts. Everyone else has shuffled out of the flat aside from the three of us, Trish, and Rosie.

Lucy:Dinner went well, even though my heart was aching. That feeling that something was missing was heavy in my soul. While it was like a plague on my attention, I did my best to stay in the moment. I knew how much this meant to Leon.We had been spending the better part of the last hour examining the journal. My mom had put a great deal of thought into it. Every detail of every page was soaked in the thought and consideration that she had given to it.When did she find the time to create this? How did she know I would find the key? There were so many questions that I knew I might never find the answer to.More importantly, the memories that were passed down to me were fractured. The images and information settled in me slowly, but most of the memories felt broken and unfinished.I couldn't make sense of it all, but there was still useful information at play."Rosie, the key has been enchanted, yes?" I ask.She had been sitting in one of the smaller recliners with her legs curled und

Leon:Liam texted me.It was just a few hours after they had started their journey. He had a bad feeling about the situation, but he didn't want to tell Lucy, so he informed me.I was grateful he didn't tell her. She was a mess already.I had been doing everything I could to simply be there for her and enjoy the time we had. Our first gathering. One that would be remembered forever. While I knew this was an important event for many reasons, it was crucial to me for more than the basic and apparent reason, but it was turning into so much more. Have you ever been in a moment where it takes you several beats in time to recognize that you're in real life and not a dream? For everything to catch up and present itself as reality.Well, same. This moment was that for me.The look on Rosie's face told me that this was serious. She was mesmerized by the silver key in Lucy's small hand.It glistened against the solf white lights illumnating the hallways before it sucked the lights from above

  • The Alpha's Secret Daughter   191 - The Journal

Lucy:The scent wasn't fresh, or at least, it wasn't potent.Whoever had been in here likely wasn't here anymore, but of course, I checked every space that someone could be hiding in.'Maybe it was that driver,' Nia ponders, even though we can both tell the scent isn't the same. The idea sounds better than the alternative.I take a mental note to ask my mates if they've had anyone in here for any reason. I let out a massive sigh of relief as I opened my dresser drawer and removed the clothes. The key and journal were still tucked beneath the stack of clothes. What would they be in my room looking for? This wasn't exactly the best hiding spot, but I had never worried about anyone breaking in.'The door isn't damaged, and it was locked. That means, if someone did come in here without permission, they would have had to have had a key,' I say to Nia, trying to sort things out.The book on my nightstand that I knew had been there was gone. From what I could tell, my brush was the other m

  • The Alpha's Secret Daughter   190 - Coming Together

Lucy:I was going to have to face the entire pack soon. Tallie was essentially supposed to be like practice for me, but the moment she burst into tears, I no longer knew how I could possibly address the entire pack.Tallie sobbed for an awkward minute or two. I wasn't sure if she felt comfortable with me consoling her, so I stood there silently with my hands clasped in front of me, praying to the Moon Goddess for anything at all."Umm... Tallie, I'm sorry if I scared you," I mutter, my voice cracking. She shakes her head and wipes her tears off her face before sniffling and regaining her upright position to face me."It's not that. I mean, you didn't scare me," she explains, throwing her hands around in the air.I walk forward and hug her, letting my magic flow from me to her, similar to how I did with Saul. She needed to feel understood and not so alone. This was something I was good at.She settles down dramatically, her body relaxing and the trembling disappearing almost instant

  • The Alpha's Secret Daughter   189 - I'm a Faery

Lucy:Leander said yes, of course. I knew that he would.Rosie was over the moon with excitement, and while I think we were all still shaken up about the crazy driver situation, this was a silver lining."Of course, Tallie and Maddel will have to agree. After all, they did adopt Rosie, and she is not an adult yet," Leander states.I couldn't tell what it was, but I didn't care too much for Rosie's adoptive mother, and I hadn't met her adoptive father yet."You're like a magnet for danger!" That's Trish.About time she shows up.Oh no. She doesn't have Saul. It's getting late. We've been here for longer, or the entire crash and chaos took more time than I had thought."Trishy, where is your mate?" I ask, staring at the cottage in hopes that Saul will come around the corner, but he doesn't.He went with Seth.Of course, he did. It makes sense, but I still can't help but feel bad. I keep feeling like everything is my fault. Anyone around me is put in danger left and right."Stop," Seth
