Chapter Sixteen

Noah's Pov

I made my way to the study, slamming the door shut behind me. Anger pulsed through my veins as I paced back and forth, trying to calm myself down. The nerve of my father, thinking he could just waltz in and criticize my work.

I stood outside at the verandah, the cool air feeling good on my hot skin. I took out a tobacco, putting it in my mouth before lighting it.

I took a long drag and let out a cloud of smoke, feeling the tension slowly leave my body. He was just trying to get to me, knowing I never make mistakes. He knew how closing a contract with that particular company was, but still wanted to make me feel inferior.

I leaned against the railing, gazing out at the city skyline. The night air was cool, and I could hear the distant sounds of traffic and people bustling about.

After a few minutes, I heard footsteps approaching. Eliana appeared beside me, her arms wrapped around herself, looking up at me.

A few moments passed with none of us saying anything, our breathing
