Chapter 104: Sunlight and Sugar

The smell of something warm and buttery filled the room. Then the sound of soft clinking, of ceramic against a tray, and a low hum that was unmistakably Valerio’s voice.

I blinked at the tray “oouu already ready?” golden pancakes stacked high, a drizzle of honey forming messy trails; scrambled eggs, slightly overcooked on one side; and a single flower… a daisy resting beside the coffee cup.

“Awww cute” I said, smiling hard.

“Obviously.” He shrugged, pretending nonchalance, but his tone carried that hint of pride that told me he’d probably burnt three batches before this one turned out decent.

“I’m impressed,” I teased. “You didn’t call for help?”

“I was going to,” he said, sitting at the edge of the bed. “Then I realized I like watching you eat more than I like being scolded by the cook.”

I laughed softly. “That’s a strange reason to risk burning down the kitchen.”

He leaned closer, brushing a strand of hair from my face. “You’re worth it.”

  • The Auctioned Bride   Chapter 142: Next

Althea’s POVI was quarter way done with my plan.Seraphina’s empire was burning; her name was already a whispered curse among the criminals she had betrayed and a flashing red alert in government databases. One pest eradicated. One liar exposed. It was him next.Damien.The man who once swore to protect me. The man who let me go like I was nothing. The man who stood silently and watched my life shatter, then pretended guilt years later could magically reassemble what he broke. He thought regret was enough. He thought sorrow was redemption. He thought he could look at me with soft eyes… on his wedding day, on my birthday and imagine that forgiveness was something he could buy with a sigh and a pained expression.Idiot.Fool.Weak, sentimental little man.But his regret? His weakness? His attachment?I would use all of it.I would make him crawl.I would make him kneel.I would make him lick the ground I walked on if I wanted. And then I would break him.Slowly.Cruelly.And when his t

  • The Auctioned Bride   Chapter 141: My revenge

Althea’s pov“Althea,” Seraphina spat, her voice sharp, venomous, yet edged with panic.I leaned against the edge of the office desk, arms crossed, watching her like I was some predator observing prey. The faint hum of the city outside was muffled by the tall windows, but it didn’t matter. In this room, time itself had slowed, bending around the chaos that Seraphina had never expected. Her world was collapsing, and I was holding the detonator.“You’re going to regret this,” she hissed, her face pale, eyes wide. She had always carried herself with a flawless mask of composure, but now that mask was cracking, showing glimpses of the woman behind the power, behind the schemes.I smiled, cold, almost clinical. “Regret?” I said softly, letting the word hang in the air. “Oh, Seraphina… you should have thought about that before you decided to take everything from me, from my family. You should have thought about me before you broke the law, embezzled, and stole from my father’s legacy.”Her

  • The Auctioned Bride   Chapter 140: Seraphina’s world burn

Third Person’s PovSeraphina woke to the sound of her phone vibrating violently against the glass table beside her bed.At first, she ignored it.Morning calls were normal, people always wanted something from her.But then it rang again. And again.Non-stop.A cold swell of irritation ran through her as she reached out and snatched the device.27 missed calls. From her assistant, her accountant, and three numbers she didn’t recognize.“What the hell…?” she muttered, sitting up.The moment she unlocked her screen, news notifications and urgent alerts flooded in like a tidal wave.BANK ACCOUNT ACCESS DENIED.ASSET FREEZE INITIATED BY FEDERAL FINANCIAL CRIMES UNIT.PROPERTY OWNERSHIP DISPUTE FILED… ADRIAN KANE ESTATE.“What?”Her voice cracked, her chest tightening as she tapped each alert, but they all said the same thing:Her assets were frozen. Her access was revoked. Her properties were under legal investigation.“No… no, no, no…this must be an error.” She threw the covers off and st

  • The Auctioned Bride   Chapter 139: Seraphina’s Fall

I worked for hours. No breaks. No hesitation. A clone didn’t need emotional rest, and I wasn’t going to act human anymore.First, I retrieved the original property documents my father had signed before his death…ones showing his intention to leave everything to an unnamed heir, which everyone knew meant the child he never managed to register.Me.I scanned them, encrypted them, and prepared a digital copy that looked authentically confirmed.Next, I opened a folder labeled:SERA-K09: Financial Crimes / Embezzlement RouteThere were bank accounts, unregistered warehouses, laundered money disguised as charity donations. Seraphina was greedy, sloppy, unafraid. I used the Kane estate as her personal pipeline.I extracted everything…every transfer, every invoice, every falsified record. Then I moved to the next part of the plan.Destroy the luxury façade.Freeze her world.Pull the rug from under her heels.I created an anonymous identity and sent the files to three separate departments…I

  • The Auctioned Bride   Chapter 138: The safehouse

The safehouse wasn’t much to look at from the outside…just a low, concrete building swallowed between taller abandoned structures at the edge of an unmarked district. It was deserted. But inside, it held everything I needed: shelter, power, technology, anonymity.Almost like it had been waiting for me.I sat before the console, an antique-looking system with cables still connected to private servers buried under decades of syndicate black operations. I typed my old designation, something I hadn’t realized I still remembered. Something I didn't realize was deep embedded in my memory.E-4K-37.Access granted.A flood of classified documents filled the screen, including project notes, surveillance logs, and most importantly…financial records. I leaned closer, my expression tightening.Seraphina’s name appeared more than once.Lucien’s too.Elara’s, here and there, always tied to infiltration assignments. My jaw clenched.“That’s why you all treated me like I was disposable,” I murmured.

  • The Auctioned Bride   Chapter 137: Unshackled

Althea’s PovThe sky darkened as I approached the outskirts of the city, my ruined wedding gown dragging behind me like a ghost refusing to let go. I didn’t stop. Not when my legs shook. Not when my lungs burned. Not when every step reminded me that the world I thought I belonged to had never been mine. The city lights glowed in the distance….blurry, muted, like the world was separated from me by glass. I stayed in the shadows, cutting through an old industrial path, until I reached the safehouse Valerio’s father once used.It shouldn’t have been familiar, but the moment I stepped toward the metal door, a memory…no, a programmed trigger…clicked in my mind. A sequence. A code. I didn’t question why I knew it.I pressed my hand against the scanner.A soft beep responded. The door slid open.Inside, the safehouse smelled like dust and disuse. A cold, bare room with metal walls, dim lights, a single table, outdated monitors….yet it felt like the only place quiet enough for the chaos in m
