That makes sense

"Apparently he was talking to the police about me. And I guess they asked him some questions about me. About the accident and."

Before Romano finishes his sentence I interrupt him.

"Did he say anything bad?"

He shakes his head no.

"Nothing about you at all. They asked what happened between us during the car ride. And why I left without saying goodbye. Why I never came back home."

I let out a breath I didn't even know I was holding in.

"And? What did he say?" I ask quietly.

Romano lets out a deep sigh and brings his cup of coffee up to his mouth to drink from it. Once he sets it down he leans his elbows against the table and stares down at it thoughtfully.

"He said he wasn't surprised. That he knew that this day would come eventually. But he also said that he always knew that something terrible would happen sooner or later." he explains.

A frown forms on my face as I listen to him.

"I don't understand...why would he say that?"

"Because he hates me." Romano replies quietly.
