Chapter 1: Meeting Elijah

Rebecca:

They say that when you are in love , you are so blinded by love that nothing else matters, that's how I felt when I looked at Jordan.

I was sitting on one of the chairs at the counter of the bar, a full glass in front of me and I dared not take a sip.

I was staring at the glass wondering if I should take a sip or not.

"Hey!" I heard someone trying to catch my attention.

I turned and I sucked in a breath ,as I saw the guy standing next to me.

He can't be real , I thought.

His eyes were soft and gentle like butterfly wings, fluttering with grace and beauty.

His lips were red and rosy and so full, and his nose was pointed, I looked at his eyebrows and I exhaled sharply, he must be a model.

There is no way he is not a model.

His brows arched upwards, as if wondering why I was staring at him and not saying anything.

"Is there something on my face?" He asked and his velvety voice made me stare at him in surprise, that voice didn't match his face, and to top off his handsome look, his face was plastered with an unwavering smile.

That smile seemed so good on his face that I didn't want to stop staring.

I don't think I noticed when he sat beside me.

I saw him take in a breath and tilt his head to the side, as he placed his elbow on the counter and rested his head on his hand.

"Do you want to take a picture, it will last longer." He said in an amused voice and my eyes widened and I slapped my hand over my mouth, as I realized I was staring at him like a creep.

Why wasn't he annoyed?

"Oh my , I am so sorry I didn't mean to stare." I apologized immediately.

"I don't mind." He shrugged off my words, as he sat erect.

"You don't?" I asked in a soft voice just to be sure he nodded in confirmation that he wasn't bothered by my staring.

"It actually makes me happy that you are paying attention to me." He commented ,as he took a sip from his glass and my eyes widened at his revelation.

"What?" I asked but you just answered with another smile.

"Um...okay." I mumbled, unsure how to reply to his words.

"What are you doing in here all alone, you don't seem like someone who drinks." He pointed out, I didn't even know that I showed that I didn't like being here.

"Oh well, I am here with a friend." I replied.

"A friend or boyfriend?" He asked as I saw his smile begin to fade.

"Friend." I replied and his face lit up with a new smile and face went back to normal.

"That's a relief." He sighed and adjusted in his seat.

"What?" I asked.

"Nothing." He looked past me to where Jordan was talking with some girls.

"Your friend is the one flirting with those girls over there right?" He asked and the corner of my lips twitched, as I did not like the word he used.

I know that Jordan was flirting with those girls and I tried not to look that way and for him to say it out like this, it made me a bit upset.

"Is something wrong?" He inquired, with concern in his voice.

"No nothing else, I just…" I trailed off not knowing what to say.

"Oh it's fine, if your friend can't keep you company ,do you mind if I do so?" He asked and I can't possibly refuse ,when he was asking this nicely , I will just make sure to not drink.

I don't know if Jordan was even paying attention to me, so I should be safe.

"Yes, it's fine you can keep me company." I replied and I noticed the strange look that the bartender behind the counter gave me.

His eyes looked as if he was telling me to leave, but couldn't say it out loud.

I can't just leave without Jordan.

"You haven't said anything about taking a picture of me ,so that you can stare at me longer." He commented again and I chuckled nervously.

"Oh, I was just...um... I was just looking, I don't want a picture." I stammered.

"Well if you say so." He sighed.

"You are in high school right?" He inquired from me.

"Um yes." I replied.

"So am I." He informed me and my mouth made an oh.

"Really?" I asked as my ears perked up.

"Yes." He showed me his ID card ,he was eighteen.

I thought you were a guy in his twenties, but thank goodness he was in high school.

"I turned 18 a month ago. We are the same age." I revealed and his face lit up in happiness.

"You are already 18 years old?" He inquired.

"Yes." I answered.

"Oh that's nice, can I get your phone number, so we can talk more?" He asked out of the blue.

"What?" I asked in surprise.

This is probably the first person that a hot guy asked for my number.

I think I have only given my number to two guys and that's it, those two guys were just average looking nothing more.

"Can I?" He asked politely.

"Um sure." I replied, as I took his phone and typed in my phone number and gave it back to him.

He called the number and the call went through.

"What's your name, so I can save your phone number?" He asked.

Something told me to tell him the wrong name and I will just block his number later, but something else told me to just tell him my real name.

"Rebecca." I blurted out.

I don't see any reason to lie to him.

"That's lovely, my name is Elijah." He introduced himself and stretched out his hand for a handshake, I obliged and shook his hand.

His hand was rough and he didn't let me go immediately as he softly caressed my hand with fingers and I felt a shiver run down my phone.

I let go of him.

What was that?

"Oh nice to meet you." I cleared my throat.

"It's a pleasure." He replied.

"Rebecca, who's this?" I heard from behind me and I turned and saw Jordan, my best friend.

I think it is done flirting and getting the numbers of all the girls here.

"This is…" I tried to say.

"Bye Rebecca, see you later." Elijah cut off my words and stood up and I was looking at him in surprise.

Elijah looked at Jordan for a second and his smile was gone.

"When you bring a lady this inexperienced to the bar, stay with her and don't act like a douchebag." Elijah scolded Jordan and I saw Jordan's face twist in anger.

"Hey, who…"

Elijah didn't even wait and began to walk away and Jordan was rightfully offended by this and wanted to go after him ,but a friend of his held onto his shoulder and whispered something in his ear, his eyes widened for a brief second then he just let Elijah walk away ,as I watched his retreating figure.

What just happened?

Jordan told me that we should leave and I just stood up and followed him as we walked out of the bar.

He asked me if I had fun and I just lied and told him I had fun.

I don't like going to bars, but he insisted that he wanted to make up for forgetting my birthday and that's why he took me here.

So he took me to somewhere he liked and not somewhere I liked. I guess I can't complain, I was the one that just wanted to hang out with him.

However he just ended up flirting with girls and ignoring me.

I guess I can say something good happened today ,Elijah talked to me.

"What were you talking about with that guy?" Jordan asked me the question and I knew it had been on his mind since we left the bar.

"Nothing in particular, he just came and sat there and asked if he could talk to me." I replied.

Thinking about it I don't even have a proper conversation with Elijah ,it's just that I gave him my phone number.

"I saw you take his cellphone ,what did you do with it?" Jordan Inquired with a raised eyebrow.

For a moment ,I thought if I should make a snarky remark about how he was flirting with girls and taking their phone numbers and I didn't ask him, but I didn't want to say anything good so I just kept quiet.

"You don't want to tell me?" He asked.

"He asked for my phone number and I gave it to him." I revealed, because I know Jordan , he's so nosy and will continue asking me about this until I tell him what happened there.

Jordan was surprised by my answer and he asked to see my phone to be sure that I took his number and I refused.

"Becca ,you shouldn't give or be taking a number of strange guys you meet at bars, you don't know if you just gave a creep your phone number." Jordan said in concern.

"He is not a creep." I defended Elijah because if there was any creep here , it would be me because of the way I was staring at him ,when he stood beside me.

"You are already defending someone you just met. I feel hurt." He said as he dramatically placed his hand on his chest and I just rolled my eyes.

Jordan told me to delete Elijah's phone number because it's the safe thing to do, I told him I would delete it so he could just leave me alone, however I know I wasn't going to do it.
