Chapter 1

Penulis: Skye C
I stood in the rotting shack. Freezing wind howled through the window cracks.

My wolf let out a weak whimper.

I trained like a maniac for a whole year to get that Royal Elite Academy offer.

But I couldn't even afford a fresh piece of meat.

I scrubbed tables at the filthiest bar in town between training sessions. Just to afford some cheap scraps to survive.

Nobody would ever guess I was the Alpha and Luna's daughter.

My parents, Rowan, and my twin sister Willow lived in the main Pack House.

They had a private heated spring just to soak in the moonlight and strengthen their wolves. Even Willow's walk-in closet was five times bigger than my entire shack.

Growing up, they always blamed me. They said I siphoned Willow's strength in the womb.

So she deserved everything. And I was just a monster who needed to repent.

The trials ended a week ago. I'd shattered the all-time record.

But my phone stayed dead quiet. No one in the Pack chat cared.

Until today.

My screen lit up. My mother, Sylvia, finally texted.

"Come to the Pack House. We need to discuss your academy contract."

Staring at those words, my foolish heart still skipped a beat.

They finally saw my hard work. They finally cared about me, right?

I grabbed my jacket, shifted, and sprinted home through the woods.

I pushed the Pack House doors open. The heat from the fireplace washed over me.

I froze in the hallway.

My parents, Rowan, and my fated Mate—Julian.

They were all crowding around Willow on the couch. The one with the "weak inner wolf" who couldn't even hold her shift in the basic trials and barely passed.

Four fancy coming-of-age gifts sat on the coffee table.

"Willow, I got you a custom combat training plan. You have to join me at the Alliance Military Academy!" Rowan looked at her with pure adoration. Bossy, but leaving no room for argument.

"Don't listen to him," Julian chimed in. He gently unwrapped a piece of candy for her. "The best Healer Academy in the Capital is perfect for you. That way, I can watch over you every day."

I stood in the dark corner. Like a thief trespassing on someone else's turf.

Willow saw me first.

"Harper..." She flinched violently. Her eyes instantly welled up with tears. Like I was a wild beast about to tear her apart.

She bit her lip and looked at them pitifully. "I should go back to my room. I don't want my scent to upset Harper."

But the second she turned around, I caught it. A sharp, sour spike of smugness in her scent.

She shot me a secret, mocking smirk. Pure evil.

The temperature in the room plummeted.

"What's with that look? Who are you trying to intimidate?!" Sylvia shot up and stormed over to me.

There was no pride in her eyes for her genius daughter. Only guilt and rage.

She glared at me and gave an absolute command. "I called you back to inform you. You are not going to any academy in the Capital."

My ears rang. My heart almost stopped.

"What did you say?" I thought I heard wrong.

"You are not going to the Capital!" Sylvia shrieked. "Your power is too volatile. Your aura is bloodthirsty! The proctors might think you're a weapon, but to me, you're just a wild monster you can't control! If Willow smells you in the Capital, your dominant aura will crush her wolf! Are you trying to kill your own sister?"

My father, Marcus, sat on the couch and scoffed impatiently. "We finally had a peaceful year. Don't start trouble again. You're the older sister. Just let her have this."

"What about me?" I stared at them, digging my nails into my palms. "I broke the record to get that early admission. Where am I supposed to go?"

Rowan sneered, looking down on me. "Just go to the Patrol Academy on the border. What's the big deal?" He planned out my life like it was nothing.

The Patrol Academy?!

Everyone knew what that meant. You get sent there, you're permanently shut out of the Pack Council. You spend the rest of your life patrolling the forest borders.

A dull ache spread from my bleeding palms to my very soul.

I refused to shed a single tear. Instead, I turned to the man who had been dead silent.

"Julian." My voice shook as I called his name.

That was my Mate. The one supposed to share my soul, life, and death.

But right now, he was forcefully suppressing our bond. The mate bond was supposed to burn bright and pull us together.

Instead, he was rejecting me.

He kept his head down. He never once met my eyes.

"Harper, be a good girl." Julian's voice was low, but he spoke the most hypocritical words in the world. "You're naturally strong. A fighting genius. Even at the Patrol Academy, you can fight your way to the top. Staying in the Pack as a high-ranked warrior... isn't that great too?"

He paused.

His eyes drifted to Willow's closed door. I saw a protective urge in his gaze that I had never, ever received.

"But Willow is different. She needs someone to take care of her."

“Oh my Goddess, Harper! Is this headline about you?” Three days after Julian left. My new roommate, Emma, slammed the door open. Holding up her tablet. Freaking out. On the screen, a massive, bold red headline from the Werewolf High Council’s official network. [Cruel Abuse! Pureblood Prodigy Washes Dishes in Border Bar, Survives Year in Freezing Shack Before Abandoning Pack]The photos were crystal clear. It was my old, broken shack. And those four ugly stuffed wolves I left facing the wall. Emma looked at me carefully. Scared to trigger me. “Is this true? An Alpha’s own flesh and blood, and they didn’t even feed you?” I wiped my sweat from the gravity room. Didn’t even blink. “Yeah, that’s me,” I said casually. “The shack had drafts. I sewed those dolls to survive the mate rejection fever.” Emma gasped. Her eyes welled up with tears for me. The entire Neutral Zone—hell, the whole Capital Pack—was talking about it. The scandal of abusing a record-breaking prodigy blew up li

It snowed for two weeks straight in the Neutral Zone. I walked out of Obsidian Academy’s gravity room. Sweat dripping off my chin. The metal door hissed shut behind me. Suddenly, a messy, chaotic scent hit me. That once-familiar, high-and-mighty Alpha aura... was now weak as a newborn pup. “Harper...” A painfully hoarse voice echoed from the end of the hall. I stopped. Looked up with dead eyes. Julian stood there. It had only been two weeks, but he looked like a ghost. Dark circles under his eyes. Cheeks hollowed out. His expensive shirt was covered in mud and blood. He could barely stand straight. The Mate Rejection Backlash was draining his life away, drop by drop. Fighting the agony, he dragged himself over to me. “I paid a fortune to rogue trackers to find you.” He gripped his chest. Every breath sounded bloody. “I took two broken ribs from the border guards just to find out you were here...” Playing the victim. Hoping my heart would bleed for him just a little bit.

Before the hall doors even shut, the storm was violently ripped open again. “Get the car!” Marcus roared like a rabid beast. His eyes were bloodshot. He grabbed the keys and charged into the snow. “I don’t care where she ran, bring her back today!” Sylvia stumbled after him in her heels. Rowan, pale with rage, yanked up a weak Julian and followed. Leaving Willow completely alone in the trashed hall. Shivering. But this time, not a single person—not even Julian—looked back at her. The black SUV tore through the snow. Tires shrieking. They stormed straight into the Council Records Office. Bang! Marcus kicked open the Senior Director’s door. He slammed his fists on the desk, letting his Alpha aura explode. “Hand over Harper’s transfer file!” The Director was a retired high-ranking apex warrior. He didn’t give a damn. He didn’t even blink. Just glared at these arrogant elites. “Save your breath, Alpha,” the Director scoffed. “Harper never filed a transfer request.” Rowan gri

Snow and wind raged at the border station of the Neutral Territory. I stepped off the long-distance bus, dragging my beaten-up canvas bag. Instantly, a few roaming Rogues locked eyes on me. “New here? Whatcha got in the bag? Pay up!” The leader blocked my way. A scarred brute. Flashing yellow teeth and greedy fangs. Reeking of cheap booze and dirt. I didn’t waste a single word. I snapped my eyes up. And unleashed the raw, dominant aura of a pureblood Alpha. I let it all out. Bang. The terrifying force of my Alpha aura blasted him backward. He crashed hard into a snowbank, coughing up blood. His gang turned ghost-white. Too terrified to even shift. They tucked their tails and ran for their lives. The passing wolves stopped. Nobody panicked or called the cops. Instead, they whistled in respect. “Pure Alpha aura! Badass!” I smirked. This was the Neutral Territory. A wild, modern jungle. High-rise buildings mixed with the absolute law of the strong. No more stiff, disgusting r

The blizzard howled. Freezing wind crashed into the warm hall. Sylvia’s elegant smile died on her face. Those flashing silver badges were too obvious. The highest authority of the High Council. The noisy hall dropped dead silent. The reporter ignored Sylvia’s shock. He shoved a mic in her face, practically buzzing with excitement. “Good evening, Luna Sylvia! We’re from the official High Council Media!” “Is Miss Harper here? The pureblood genius who absolutely shattered the century's combat record in the coming-of-age trials?” The reporter’s voice shook with thrill. Borderline worship. “A flawless Alpha bloodline! A once-in-a-generation warrior! The entire Capital Pack is going crazy. We couldn't wait to interview her!” Silence. Dead, suffocating silence. You could hear a pin drop in that hall. Crash. Willow’s crystal glass slipped. It smashed onto the carpet. Champagne splashed everywhere. Her always-pitiful face twisted into something hilarious. “Broke... the century re

  • The Banished Prodigy’s Silent Rise   Chapter 5

The pain in his chest was unbearable. Like a rusty silver blade twisting in his heart. Julian clutched his chest. He curled up in the darkest corner of the banquet hall, completely drained of energy. “I officially reject you.” Harper’s cold words from last night echoed in his head. A curse he couldn’t undo. Nailed deep into his soul. A Mate’s Rejection is irreversible. It was tearing his wolf bond apart. His Alpha aura was a total mess. Every breath brought pure agony to his nerves. He was too weak to even stand. The Pack House was blazing with lights. Willow’s farewell party was sickeningly lavish. The glaring crystal chandeliers made Julian dizzy and nauseous. Right in the middle of the long table sat a velvet box. Inside was Willow’s acceptance letter to the Royal Elite Academy. “Willow is the pride of our territory! The Council's Healer Program is extremely hard to get into. She has a bright future!” “All thanks to our Alpha and Luna. They raised such a perfect daughter.”
