Carmen's POV

“Who are you?” I inched closer to the girl on the floor, this time, giving her a closer look.

Her makeup was heavy and tacky, her shoes were dirty around the tip, and her dress had a scent very different from her own scent.

“You are not Sarah Voss, who are you? You imposter!” I smirked, my face filled with satisfaction as I watched her face grow pale.

“Hey! I am Sarah Voss, don't you know? This is my identity card,” the lady pulled out a bracelet and held it up proudly but I snatch

Cayden's povI think I definitely understood now why ancient creatures were sealed away underground. Not because they were dangerous but because they were unbelievably annoying.Just like Silver. He said he was going to be my assistant but I turned out to be his assistant.Five hours with the grand ancestor and I had experienced what it meant to be an errand boy.“Cayden, get me some black coffee, this one is just too sweet.” Silver frowned in disgust as he put down the latte.“This is your tenth order. Make your choice.” I completely lost it, slamming the tray on the table.Silver looked at me, disbelief across his eyes. “I just made my order, you are the one who assumed I wanted something sweet.”The shamelessness of this ancestor made me almost lose whatever self control I thought I had.“You keep changing your orders, I haven't even settled since I came here, I even gave you a menu and you chose ten times, I am the one running around the entire block.”“Fine.” Silver sighed, takin

Carmen's povThe freezing water swallowed me instantly. Coldness exploded through my body violently enough to steal my breath. The current tugged hard against me, threatening to drag me away immediately.Yet I did not resist. I simply allowed my body to move with the water naturally. The waters would lead you toward peace. Someone once told me that a long time ago, at that time, I thought the saying sounded foolish. Now, drifting silently beneath the freezing currents, my breathing became heavier. Pressure built painfully around my chest while darkness surrounded me completely. But I kept moving, because I wasn't searching for peace.I was searching for understanding. The cave where Silas dragged me to save me.I didn't know why I needed to return here so badly. Maybe part of me simply needed closure or maybe…Maybe I needed to understand exactly why my heart once beat so desperately for him.Because now, another emotion started growing inside me. One that felt infinitely more d

Carmen's povThe journey back to the veil felt colder than I remembered or maybe I had simply changed too much. The carriage moved quietly through the fog-covered roads while I stared outside the window absentmindedly, watching dead trees blur past beneath the pale evening sky.Everything about the place still carried the same suffocating atmosphere.I didn't know why I was suddenly so bothered, I could not eat or sleep, I just couldn't take it, a place where kids became assassins, weapons of mass murder, monsters who could not speak or have a will of her own. Now, I was going back to my parents' pack territory, not only to find the truth regarding my assassination attempt but also for them.I never thought a day would come when I would be considered something like this… saving others. The five girls, I never really considered them as people, just tools to get information and I thought that my heart would still be strong being away from them. But, after watching them and the way the

Cayden's POVI took a look at the direction of his hands and saw Carmen. She had a racing outfit and was on top of a bike. Immediately, she saw me, she nodded, and drove off, the dust rising behind her.She had just come to see off the five girls on their first day of school.“No, seriously,” I said flatly. “She is not my girlfriend. She is actually the wife of my rival, and we happen to have, well……identical goals.”“If you say so.” Silver grinned, his sharp fangs displaying themselves shamelessly.“So, the name Silver, where did you get it?” I asked, deliberately trying to steer his mind out of the conversation. It was not a particularly intimidating name for a thousand-year-old werewolf.“Ohhh, it's from a silver bullet, the bane of werewolves.”Silver!Silver was one element that werewolves loved and cherished. However, it was effortlessly the death of many werewolves. A single shot of a silver bullet could bring down a weak adult werewolf, and so it was highly regarded as a forbi

Cayden's POVBlood spilled out of my mouth, splashing across the floor like acid.“Cayden.” The five girls gathered around me, Nika especially holding my shirt tight and firm.“It's okay.” I tried to reassure them, but the scent came again, this time stronger and with a voice attached to it through telepathy.“Find me.” My eyes were already roaming around, looking for that threat. As I kept on looking for him, my eyes came across a boy, barely in his twenties, dressed in an old English outfit. The boy had curly black hair like obsidian and his eyes, a beautiful golden brown. He had a soft smile on his face as he looked at me as if pleased. The moment my eyes made eye contact with him, I felt a serious throbbing in my chest; every instinct in my body screamed danger.No."Danger" was too mild a word to describe whatever that thing was.He clearly looked like a fresher in college, with his oversized coat and his hat resting on his lap as he sat on the bench, but the aura radiating from

Cayden's POVAfter the discussion about Carmen's mother and birth theory, neither of us spoke very much. Carmen retreated in silence, brooding about a detail I could not bear to ask. Words were useless at this point, it was painful for her.It was for me too, no matter what we thought we had grown into, the bond of family was something everyone yearned to get.Carmen was not so different.Carmen left after a day, no notes, no explanation; maybe she decided to take up her journey. I didn't ask her where she was going; I just sent Charlie to go after her, shielding her from all the harm.As for the red scarves, let's just say I got five younger siblings that I'd rather wish I did not have. There were five problems I had no choice but to deal with, because for some reason, I found myself in them.I could see my nightmarish childhood peeking out of each one of those children. As it stood now, those girls had essentially moved into my estate. They were also fast learners and learned every
