Third Person POV

SMASH!

“What do you mean? What do you mean we have no money left? Exactly how much is in the treasury?” Chloe roared, her soft-spoken voice was nowhere to be found.

“Please forgive us,” the little betas scurried around, like ants set on fire. Their faces pale and covered with sweat.

“Call the accountants, call the accountants now!” Chloe screamed, barely holding herself from ripping someone into shreds.

Immediately, the entire crowd recessed, rushing to bring in the accountants

  • The Barren Luna’s Revenge; Dear Ex, Your Only Heir Is Mine   Chapter 38

Cayden's POVAfter the discussion about Carmen's mother and birth theory, neither of us spoke very much. Carmen retreated in silence, brooding about a detail I could not bear to ask. Words were useless at this point, it was painful for her.It was for me too, no matter what we thought we had grown into, the bond of family was something everyone yearned to get.Carmen was not so different.Carmen left after a day, no notes, no explanation; maybe she decided to take up her journey. I didn't ask her where she was going; I just sent Charlie to go after her, shielding her from all the harm.As for the red scarves, let's just say I got five younger siblings that I'd rather wish I did not have. There were five problems I had no choice but to deal with, because for some reason, I found myself in them.I could see my nightmarish childhood peeking out of each one of those children. As it stood now, those girls had essentially moved into my estate. They were also fast learners and learned every

  • The Barren Luna’s Revenge; Dear Ex, Your Only Heir Is Mine   Chapter 37

Carmen's POVI did not even want to talk about what happened on the drive back.I saw a side of Chloe that I did not think I would ever see. Chloe never even loved Silas, she was with him because she wanted to be Luna. Now that she had been introduced to a more efficient way of getting what she wanted, it was only going to be a matter of time before she implemented her plan.As for Mallon, I definitely needed to know what hatred exists between him and his Alpha, to whom he swore loyalty. Three days had passed ever since that…..well, excruciating video recording, and Charlie, as he said, actually took a vacation.I remained in the mental hospital, five girls lay down on the metal table like experiments and on a white chair, Cayden was working on some mixture. The humans say that a man looked his best when he worked. I must say, I agreed with that statement when Cayden was the main character. His chiseled and concentrated face, and he made magic from the ingredients before him, twirling

  • The Barren Luna’s Revenge; Dear Ex, Your Only Heir Is Mine   Chapter 36

Cayden's povBy the time we returned from the auction hall, night had already fallen. The city lights flickered beautifully outside the car windows, but my mind remained entirely elsewhere.Silas.That idiot actually bought the cursed Land. For three billion dollars. Even now, I still found it unbelievable. What level of investment would get back that amount of money. Carmen sat next to me, brooding in her own thoughts.I knew it had something to do with those red scarves assassins who came for her.Even though they were no match, it had proven one thing, Carmen was no longer safe alone.“So, you manipulated Silas into getting a horrible land, how do you feel about that?” Carmen may have noticed me staring a lot, that she turned and tried to keep a conversation with me, I guessed.“I didn't, he manipulated himself into thinking he had it all in the bag. I just helped him out as a nice acquaintance.”“Nice acquaintance, right?” Carmen shook her head at that definition.I wanted to ask

  • The Barren Luna’s Revenge; Dear Ex, Your Only Heir Is Mine   Chapter 35

Carmen’s PovThe bidding war escalated rapidly. Numbers flashed across the golden screen so quickly that several people in the audience had already given up trying to compete.“Eight hundred million,” the sound of a person’s voice pulled me to reality. Whatever was happening, whatever craziness was put on display, this was a first for me.A billion!Cayden dropped a large freaking bomb that almost made me go crazy. The entire hall erupted in murmurs at the sound of that price.Even the auctioneer had a wide grin on her face like she had struck it rich. I, on the other hand, felt like strangling Cayden. My sleeves were gripped so tight that they ripped apart, I simply could not take this anymore, I had to do something.I desperately kicked his feet beneath the table, trying to stop him from making another bid. Cayden just stared at me with such an innocent look on his face and actually continued to raise his hands up.“Cayden, this is not funny anymore. Put your hand down.” I whispered

  • The Barren Luna’s Revenge; Dear Ex, Your Only Heir Is Mine   Chapter 34

Carmen's POVThe lights inside the auction hall dimmed slightly as the auctioneer stepped onto the central stage. She was a beautiful woman dressed in a fitted black suit, her sharp voice echoing clearly throughout the massive hall.“Good evening, distinguished guests,” she greeted smoothly, smiling toward the audience. “Tonight's auction features some of the most varied territories currently available in the northern and eastern regions.” Polite applause followed. I leaned back slightly in my seat while the giant golden screens behind her lit up one after another. The first land introduced was an agricultural zone. It had a minimal population of humans who were mostly old and sickly. While definitely a good investment to make, it had very obvious consequences, the people in the zone were all old people who could never agree to leave their land. Buy the land and get a lifetime of problems to deal with.Clearly, everyone saw the same issue with the land, but only Silas had to be the o

Carmen's POVCayden and I arrived at the land hall in silence. Each with their thoughts.Despite my perpetual lateness, we made it before the official bidding began. The moment we stepped inside, I understood why the place was able to gather even the most prominent of human politics, the very cream of the crop. Rows and rows of elevated seating circled the center stage where the bidding platform stood. Massive golden screens displayed the details of each property while servants moved elegantly between tables, carrying wine and the bidding board.Bouncers and huge hefty men stood in front of the VIP session. Cayden and I walked to the session, our invitation card in our hands. There was not much difference between the VIP hall and the regular hall, except for the presence of a screen that could guarantee your privacy if you wished, but most actually do not use it.Humans were creatures of flattery and fame, after all, how could they pass up a good chance to be flattered by their peers
