Kay

He must be losing his mind.

Kay let out a low chuckle, lifting a hand to brush back his hair as the image of her flashed uninvited through his thoughts. The way she had stood there. The way her eyes had followed him.

He shook his head quickly, forcing himself back to reality. Whatever that was, whatever strange pull he had felt, it had no place in his life, not after everything.

He walked toward his car, pressed the remote, and listened to the familiar click as the doors unlocked. Sliding into the driver’s seat, he shut the door behind him and leaned back, exhaling deeply.

For a brief moment, the quiet wrapped around him before a hand suddenly locked around his neck from behind, fingers digging into his skin, before he could react, cold metal blade pressed against his throat.

Kay froze instantly.

One wrong move. He knew it. His pulse thundered loudly in his ears as his eyes flicked to the rearview mirror, searching for the attacker.

But he couldn’t see her.

Mia“Should I just cut my hair?”I asked Rolex casually, though nothing about the question was casual. He was seated behind his desk, sleeves rolled up and eyes fixed on the laptop screen before him. These days, he avoided going to the office as much as he could. Kay handled most of the workload now, and Rolex only went in when it was absolutely necessary. He spent nearly all his time with me.Ever since I refused to let Lissa stay over, he hadn’t argued. He simply stayed with me all the time and I enjoyed every second of it more than I should have.Just like today. He sat there, glasses perched on his nose, fingers moving swiftly over the keyboard, The glasses made him look unfairly attractive, the kind of attractive that made it impossible to behave. I had promised…solemnly…that I wouldn’t distract him, but I broke that promise within minutes.I talked while eating. I talked while turning pages of the novel in my hands. I talked while swinging my legs on the couch. I asked for sna

They got to the boutique just as the afternoon crowd was thinning, the glass doors sliding open smoothly as Kay walked in ahead of Ava. The place smelled faintly of expensive perfume and polished leather, the kind of scent that clung to wealth, Ava slowed instinctively. Her eyes widened as she took in the rows of dresses displayed like art pieces…silk, satin, velvet…each one more elegant than the last. The soft lighting made everything glow, and for a moment she wondered if she truly belonged in a place like this.Kay noticed immediately. His gaze followed her as she moved hesitantly toward the racks, her fingers brushing the fabric carefully, he watched as her eyes dropped…not to the dresses themselves, but to the tags hanging discreetly from each piece. His jaw tightened.“C… can we try somewhere else?” Ava asked hesitantly, her voice barely above a whisper. She didn’t look at him when she spoke. She couldn’t. The prices alone made her chest tighten. She had never stepped into a pl

KayHis pupils dilated slowly as he stared at her, something dark and familiar stirring in his chest. For a split second, it felt as though he could see straight through her, through the carefully chosen words. All he saw was Ruby.Ruby standing in front of him years ago, swearing innocence with the same steady gaze. Ruby lying effortlessly. Ruby smiling while destruction trailed behind her.The memory hit hard. His jaw tightened, and before Ava could react, his eyes darted to the open bottle of water on his desk. He grabbed it without thinking and flung the contents straight at her face.Water splashed over her hair, soaked her blouse, and dripped down her neck. She stilled. Her eyes widened in pure shock, lips parting slightly as she stood there, stunned and trembling. She hadn’t expected that. Not even remotely.“If you’re so desperate for my attention,” Kay said coldly, rising from his chair, “you might as well drop your resignation letter on my desk tomorrow.”Her breath hitched

Mia“I understand that you’re pregnant, Mia,” Rolex said, running a hand through his hair as he exhaled slowly and the faint scent of exhaustion clinging to him. “But like I said before, Lissa is like a sister to me. The only reason she’s here is to look after you. Nothing more.”His voice was calm, but there was something underneath it…tight and restrained, yet I felt it immediately.“If you don’t want her around,” he continued, his jaw tightening, “then fine. I’ll send her back. You don’t have to be bitter about it.”The words hit harder than I expected.Bitter.The room seemed to tilt slightly, my chest tightening as tears stung my eyes. It had been a long time since Rolex had spoken to me like that. A very long time. He rarely raised his voice at me, rarely sounded displeased. And now, all because of this Lissa girl, he was scolding me again. My hands curled into fists at my sides.“How could I not be bitter?” I snapped before I could stop myself. The words rushed out, fueled by m

KayHe stepped out of his office and paused, as though the corridor itself had shifted while he worked. His tie hung loose around his neck, the knot pulled down and crooked, the top buttons of his shirt undone. His hair was rough from the countless times he had run his fingers through it, frustration and focus tangling it into something unintentionally attractive. The building was quiet. The kind of quiet that only existed when time had slipped past without permission. It was late, much later than he realized. Earlier, he had shut the blinds that separated his office from the adjoining one. The glass wall had become a liability and he didn’t need another distraction. Not after Ruby. So he had worked. Buried himself in reports, projections and contracts…anything that kept his eyes off the woman sitting just beyond the glass.Which was why he hadn’t known she was still here, until he saw her. She was slumped over her desk, her head resting sideways on a neat stack of files. One arm w
