“It’s about Tessa; she’s in danger.”

I stopped in my tracks and turned to face her.

“What are you talking about?” I snapped.

“I can’t speak to you here.”

I looked around; there was no one close by, but I didn’t trust even the walls beside us.

“Come on.”

I led her to my car.

“Get in.”

She dutifully slipped into the shotgun seat.

“Start talking.” I snapped to keep the panic away from my voice.

“I know I’ve not been the best mother to Tessa—”

“Skip the bullshit. What danger is she in?”

The woman fell silent, and I let out a deep breath, leaning back against the car seat. Tessa wasn’t in any real danger—she’d lied. And yet, with just those words, she’d gotten to me so easily.

This was proof that I’d been deceiving myself; I couldn’t forget her, I couldn’t stop caring, and if she was in danger, then I was ready to give my life for hers without a second thought.

“I knew if I didn’t say that, you would’ve left. I’d been trying to get to the pack, to see her, but they wouldn’t let me in. I r

ANGELINA’S POVI woke up on the floor of an unfamiliar room. My hands were bound with silver cuffs, and a collar had been fastened around my neck, chained to the wall to restrict my movement. My injuries had healed up, but my hair was still clumped with dried blood, and the sharp metallic stench was hard to ignore.I looked around. The white paint on the walls had aged, chipped, and stained. There was a single couch in the middle of the room, and there Sophia sat. Still dressed in my clothes.“You’re awake!” she noted.“What am I doing here, Sophia?”“Angel—may I call you that?” she questioned, but I gave her no response. “I’ll take that as a yes. The thing is, you’ve been deceived.”“Who are you?”“I’m your downfall. The thing about you werewolves is that you believe humans are way below your leagues—you can’t even view them as threats. Perhaps that’s what Diana saw when she employed me.”“Diana Callister?”“Yes, Angel. Callister. She’s the reason you’re here.”“How could you?”“Oh,

**DIANA—THIRD POV**With Falcone, sex had felt more like a duty. Perhaps that’s why she never really enjoyed it. It had always been about the performance and pleasing him.Now she lay naked on the bed, with Joffrey—Falcone’s cousin—between her legs. She didn’t exactly have feelings for this man. She’d made a vow to herself to never give her heart to any man; no man deserved it.Joffrey was different, though; she cared about him, and that was as far as she could ever go with any man. She cared, but not enough to risk her own skin for his life—just enough to want him by her side at all times.Diana fisted his hair, letting out a moan as he skillfully used his tongue on her.He knew exactly how to please a woman, and she had been denied pleasure for a long time. She had met Joffrey during a business meeting and had been instantly drawn to him. It had been one of those days she felt the urge to go a little wild. She had winked at him, even with Falcone there, then excused herself to the r

ANGELINA’S POV“Hey, Angel,” Jake called the moment I stepped into his office. The nickname still sent butterflies fluttering in my stomach.“You called for me?” I asked, moving toward his desk.“Yes, there’s something we need to talk about,” he said, as I perched on the edge of the table, facing him. “It’s about Sophia. I… don’t really trust her.”There was something in his voice that told me he was being serious. “Did she do something wrong?”“She just really gives me this weird feeling.I think it was a mistake letting her stay in our wing; she should live amongst other breeders.”“But she’s having our child; if she’s closer, we could watch over her better.”“She doesn’t need to live in our wing for that, Angel. There are plenty of nurses down there, and she’ll be fine. We can visit, but I don’t think we should let her stay.”“Jake, what’s going on?”“Nothing. I just don’t like the idea of sharing our personal space with some… stranger.”That was a very un-Jake-like thing to say.

Logan’s gaze locked on me. “What’s he doing here?”“I’m the mate, have you forgotten?” Wraith questioned, not bothering to hide his jealousy.Werewolves had sharper senses; they could pick up scents easily. Which meant he knew exactly what we’d done in this room.“I see you’ve made your decision,” Logan muttered, more to himself than to me. “I’m happy for you, Tessa,” he said, with a small smile that didn’t quite reach his eyes.“I’m sorry, Logan. But you were right.”He nodded slowly. “I guess I was.How are you feeling?”“Good as new.”“No injuries.” He noted.“I was lucky; Wraith came with a healing potion.”“What exactly happened?”“Kelvin happened. He must’ve been sent, but I wasn’t the one he was after. So… he brought me here. Kept apologizing the whole time.”“Prehaps I was the one he was after, it was my car after all, I should have been the one in it.But it’s clear he wasn’t very well informed on how to kill werewolves,—it requires a little more than a common car crash.”“Wh

Wraith had taken off the bandage, and surprisingly, I was as good as new. Not even a scar was left on the spot.“Works like magic,” I said to him.“It is magic.”I noticed the faint dark circles under his eyes—easy to miss, but there. They didn’t make him any less good-looking, yet they left me wondering what Wraith had gone through while I was gone.“You said you’d already been on your way here when you got the call.” I stated.“Yes. I had something I needed to talk to you about.”“What is it?”“We’ll talk about it later.”“Tell me now. please.”“I’ll be challenging Rex for his position as Alpha.” He informed me, his eyes scanning my face for any sign of disapproval. “I know this isn’t something you want to hear, and you might not understand why I have to do this—”“I do.”“You do?”“Yes. I know it’s not the title you’re after. You told me before; you didn’t even want the Beta title. You only accepted it because he made you. You’re challenging him because you’ve discovered that the

TESSA’S POVLogan would have realized by now that something was wrong when I didn’t come home. The door swung open as a nurse walked in, with a notebook in her hands.“Hey, you're awake. That’s a good sign. My name is Gloria, and I’m one of the nurses here. I’ve come to check on you.How are you feeling right now?”“I feel… fine.”“Okay. I want to know if you remembered anything—from the previous incident.”“Yes. I remember, I was in a car accident; I hit my head against the window, and then…” I remembered Kelvin and how he’d brought me here. “There was a man with me.”“Good. You remember most of it, and yes, there was a man with you. He said you were a friend of his.”“My baby? What about my baby?”“It’s all fine. No harm was done to the child in your womb.”I let out a breath of relief at that. “Thank God.”“I’d given the report to your husband. He arrived a few minutes after the man who’d brought you in left.”“Husband?” I questioned, and she cocked a brow at me, her smile droppin
