KELVIN’S POV

Rebecca lay naked and sprawled across my bed. “Your girlfriend seemed pissed,” she said, voice dripping with mockery.

“And now she knows you were with me.”

“It was about time, I mean—I’d expected she would find out about us a long time ago.”

“Tessa’s just too trusting for her own good.”

“Isn’t she adorable?” Rebecca cooed.

I chuckled.

Rebecca had stopped by my place last night, and one thing led to another... and ‘this’ happened. I couldn’t deny it—last night had been wild.

My thoughts were interrupted when the door burst open. My father stormed in, my mother right on his heels. They both stopped to stare at Rebecca. It didn’t take a genius to figure out why I wasn’t at my own wedding.

Rebecca was nothing like Tessa. She wouldn’t make me wait for sex.

If Tessa hadn’t kept denying me, perhaps I wouldn’t have to seek satisfaction elsewhere.

“I should leave,” Rebecca said, getting up and pulling the bedsheet with her. She grabbed her clothes and hurried out.

“So, this is what you do on your own wedding day?” My father's voice booms. “I thought I raised you better.”

"Come on, at least Rebecca’s a fitness model—not some broke waitress with baggage,” I shot back.

“You should’ve thought about that long before now. You left that poor girl standing there, humiliated, in front of everyone who came to see your damn wedding!”

I had never seen my father so angry.

“I’m a grown man, capable of making my own decisions, Father.”

“Clearly, that isn’t the case.”

“What changed?” I asked him. “You never really liked Tessa in the first place—why are you now playing on her side?”

“There are no sides!” my father snapped. “You proposed to her. If you weren’t ready for a wedding, you shouldn’t have gone ahead with it! Changing your mind on the wedding day? That’s not just rude, it’s downright disrespectful to the young lady and to our family’s name and I will not stand for that.”

“Maybe Kelvin is right.” Mom said, walking up to me. “I mean, we were both against the marriage—and the relationship in general. The girl has no future, and let’s not forget the drug addicted slut she calls a mother. Tessa might have the looks of an angel, but the apple doesn’t fall very far from the tree, and I’m glad our son realized that before it became too late.”

Father didn’t spare a glance at Mom. It was true that they had both been against the marriage, they didn’t think someone like me, a well-paid accountant, would ever stoop so low as to marry a waitress, but I guess at some point, they’d just gone along with it—that’s what I’d thought. But clearly, my mother had never truly accepted the idea of her son marrying the daughter of a drug addict.

“You’ve made a mistake, son. Now it’s up to you to fix it.”

“Fine. I’ll work it out,” I said, not missing the scowl on my mother’s face as they both left my room.

I knew without a doubt that Tessa would come crawling back. That’s what desperation does to people.

Just then, I received a text from Rebecca:

‘Same time, tomorrow night?’

I replied, ‘I’ll be waiting.’

ALPHA REX’S POVThere was a knock at the door. I’d been expecting Wraith’s visit for the past few hours, so I was quick to pull it open. But instead of him, I was met with a scantily dressed woman—one of my favorite playthings.Anyone with a brain would know this wasn’t the right time, but of course, beauty doesn’t always come with brains.“Get lost.”“But—”“I never thought I’d live to see a day like this,” came Wraith’s voice. The woman, finally giving up, turned and walked away. Only after she was gone did Wraith finish his sentence. “The day you turn down sex.”“Well, she wasn’t exactly the visitor I was expecting.”I let him in.Only a few hours had passed since he regained consciousness. The pack members had seen him in the dining room with the human, Tessa.Part of me resented not being the first person he came to, but this man had spent the last week in the infirmary after saving my life; so I forced the thought down.I checked him over for any signs of pain or discomfort, b

TESSA’S POVI’d only left Wraith’s side to freshen up, returning as soon as I could. Now, I sat beside him, watching him—studying every feature. I reached out to brush his hair away from his eyes. My chest tightened as I stared at him, at the tattoo he had told me meant a ‘promise.’ At those soft red lips.I couldn’t wait to see him open those eyes. But then, the thought resurfaced. The truth about who my father was.I had Falcone’s blood flowing through my veins, and no matter how much I tried to deny it, it was the only truth that made sense.A valid explanation to why a common human like me ended up as a mate to a man as powerful as Wraith.I would have to tell him.I planned to tell him the moment he awoke, even if it wasn’t exactly the best timing. Because deep down, I knew if I didn’t speak then, I might never have the courage to speak at all. Each day, I prepared myself for the inevitable. I even had a paragraph prepared and memorized on how I’d begin when the time came.Wraith

I punched him hard, in the nose. He staggered backwards, hands over his bleeding nose, but his smile remained.“Look again.” I growled. “Do you remember this woman?”Now he was furious. He reached down, and for a second, I thought he was going for his weapon—But he snatched the picture from my hand instead. The only picture I had of my mother, he turned it over and tore out a portion with his teeth, spitting it at me.“How could I forget her? Those beautiful, enchanting green eyes are just simply unique.” He said with a smirk stretching on his lips. “Your father with the leg issue. He tried so fucking hard to protect his mate, but he was no match for me, not even when he had his two legs.Your mother cried only for a little while, but then… she stopped. She accepted her fate. He didn’t; he tried over and over to save her and failed. He died with the memory of his mate being hung to death right in front of his very eyes.”I let out a roar of pure fury as I lunged at him, bringing him

Six months ago.I sat at a bar. My only companion—a bottle of whiskey, which was almost empty. If my mother were alive, today would have been her birthday. For me, it was another day to remember that the man who had killed her was still alive and out there, another day to remember that she was yet to be avenged.I took out her picture, the only one I had left of her.A few years ago, I had returned back to the house I’d lived in, the very place my parents had both been killed, and I’d been able to recover a single picture of her. Worn out as it had been, this was all that was left of my past.Today, I had it with me. My mother stared at me from the picture, a loving smile on her face.Even after all those years, it still felt like it all happened yesterday. I still blamed myself for not being there when they needed me the most.‘Patience,’ Rex had said, "You’ll have your revenge when the time is right."It’s been seventeen years and six months since my parents’ death and nine years si

WRAITH’S POV“Can you hear me?” Her voice broke through the silence. Soft and soothing, I never really realized how beautiful her voice was till now when I had nothing else to focus on but just that—her voice.“You’ll be fine, Wraith. Soon, it will be over,” she assures, then everything went silent, and I feared I’d lost her voice once again. “I love you.” She finally said.I wanted to respond—I wanted to say something back to her—but no words came out, no matter how hard I tried.I never did say those words back. I never told her I loved her.Her voice faded away, and I’m drawn into another dream—no, a memory.-Eighteen years ago.I’d been told many times that I was the spitting image of my mother, but I never saw the resemblance. She had green eyes and dark blonde hair, while I had grey eyes and ash brown hair.My mother was strikingly beautiful, and my father never failed to remind her of that every day. My parents loved each other so much, and they didn’t hide it.My father had b

“Just a few hours ago, you wanted nothing to do with her, and now you want to speak to her?” Jake asked, narrowing his eyes.“I’m sorry, but this is really important. Can you find her?”“I guess, yes. But are you alright? You look kind of pale.”“I’m fine. Just find her, please.”He nodded before heading off.It couldn’t be possible. It just couldn’t be Falcone. I could have sworn I had never seen that man in my life, and yet, it had been him in that picture. Inside me, I knew it..“I knew you’d be calling for me soon enough, and so I stayed close.” My mother said with a smile.“Are you fine with her?” Jake asked. It took me a little too long to nod, and then I was leading her to my room. The moment we got in, I shoved her to the bed.She looked up at me, stunned.I really didn’t know what I was turning into. Earlier, I’d been violent with Logan, and yet he’d been kind enough to ignore that, and now my mother. I swallowed, taking a deep breath, and then I tossed the picture she had
