“Let me go!” I scream, but he grabs me by my waist, then flips onto my back, his hand clamping over my mouth.
My eyes widen as I stare at the man straddling me. His long, raven black curls fall over his face, dark eyes staring with a question in his eyes. He has a well-defined jawline with perfectly proportionate lips.
“You’re not a wolf,” he says in a monotone voice. I struggle against this hold as he leans in, sucking in a breath.
I whimper softly, refusing to just give in. If he plans to kill me, he had better be ready to fight me off. I bring up my knee, then kick in his groin. He grunts and then loosens his grip on me, and I let out a glass-shattering scream.
“Will you keep quiet? I’ll—” He is about to say, but police cars approach us, sirens wailing.
“Why did you do that?” He asks me, his voice calm and eyes boring into me. “Get off me!” I shout, but he leans in when the screeching sound of tires comes.
“I guess we will be spending more time together.” He says, then he gets off me. Flashing me with his very naked body, his entire body is covered in tattoos, his torso so hard like he spends his entire time in the gym, my eyes trail down to the one place I’m curious about. I stiffen. No, I can’t look there, no matter how curious I am.
“Officers...” He beams with a smile. I’m lying on the cold asphalt road, between his legs. My eyes were fixed on his face.
“Hands up!”
“Oh, yes.” He is still smiling. “I forget how you humans are so dependent on weapons.” He turns to me, smiling vividly. I hold his gaze. Does he find this amusing?
“Like what you see, spitfire?” He asks with amusement in his voice. “I can hear your heartbeat,” he whispers to me. “Get them to back off, and I might let you touch,” he freaking smiles at me, then winks. People are taking pictures of him, but he doesn’t seem bothered by it.
I roll off the ground, then stare at the officers. I back away from him, trying to keep calm.
“Is he bothering you, Miss?” The female officer asks, her gun pointing at the wolf. I swallow hard. I have never been in such a situation.
I know wolves are not allowed in our territory. I have heard what happens to wolves who dare to enter the town without the right documentation. I don’t want to be the reason he goes through that.
I glance up at him, and he doesn’t look like he could hurt me. “Umm…” I stutter. “No. He wasn’t... He...” What the heck is wrong with me? I do not stutter when I speak.
“He wasn’t. If that’s all,” I turn on my heel, ready to head to the restaurant so I can head back home. To Eloise.
“I’m sorry, Miss. But you are going to have to come with us.”
“What?” I stop in my tracks as the officer comes to bar my way.
“No. You don’t understand. I’m not pressing any charges. I just—”
“The law, sweetheart. We need your statement at the station,” the woman says. I look up at the wolf, who is being handcuffed.
No, this can’t be happening. Eloise will be home alone.
“No. Wait. I have a sick child at home. I can’t go with you,” I say, but the officer insists, gesturing towards the police SUV.
I glanced at the restaurant, then back at the car. “We had better be going. The sooner we go, the sooner you can leave,” she insists.
I scoff, shaking my head. Fucking laws. I despise this place with every fiber of my being. The very thought of knowing I live in it fills me with an overwhelming sense of frustration and sadness.
I head back to the car and get into the SUV. The man has been shoved into the sedan ahead of us. “It won’t take long.” The lady says, and I nod.
I watch as the streetlights fade, being driven away from home. It will take me an hour just to get to the restaurant. I curse whatever god we pray to.
When we arrive at the police station, they take him straight down to the holding cells with silver iron bars.
“What’s going on? I thought—”
“You’re not pressing charges. I understand that, but he needs documentation to be in this part of the city,” she says to me, leading me to a desk.
“I will find someone to take your statement,” she says, then walks away as I scoff. She can’t be serious right now. There are only five officers at this place.
“I need to make a call,” the wolf says, his eyes locked on me. He hadn’t stopped staring at me since the moment he walked into this room.
I shift uncomfortably, looking away from him.
“Can you tell us what happened?” The officer asks, sitting down in the chair in front of me. I take in his pale skin and bored eyes. He probably doesn’t want to be here.
“Nothing. Like I said to the lady, I’m not pressing charges. He just jumped on me and—” I pause, looking at him. He’s a wolf. Could he know what’s wrong with Elosie? I inwardly ask myself. I shake my head. I can’t risk it.
“Listen, I don’t have all night. Did or did he not harass you?”
“He didn’t. Now, can I go?”
“No. We still need to take both statements,” he says lazily.
“Listen. I have a sick eight-year-old waiting for me at home. I can’t stay here the entire night,” I retort.
“I don’t care. You—”
“What did you just say?” I ask him, and he sighs heavily, sitting back. “Listen, young lady. I’m just doing my job. I will take both your statements then—”
“There will be no need for statements.” A deep husky voice comes from behind me, and I turn my head towards him.
He is dressed in a black suit, and his dark curls are combed back. His jaw tightens as I narrow my eyebrows. Leonardo Pavard. The wolf king?
“Leonardo Pavard. To what do we owe this—”
If this is the wolf king, then that’s…my eyes drift over to the man who is the reason I'm here. Holy shit. Prince Salvatore.
CamilleThey say everyone we meet has lessons to offer. And for me, I learnt so many things in the few years I have lived on this earth. For me, my young sister taught me how to be selfless. How to love unconditionally and never have regrets. And I have lived and loved her every single day since I met her when she was two years old.Ten months ago, my father’s pack and Leonardo sat down and resolved the conflict that had been between the two packs for years. It turned out they blamed Leonardo for an attack he knew nothing of. The two packs have signed a treaty, and Caleb no longer hates Leonardo.“Are you feeling?” Callum asks as he waits with me outside the room where I’m being interviewed.“I don’t know. I have to convince people who probably don’t already like me that I’m good for this because my brother put in a good word for me,” I retort, tapping my foot while waiting outside. He clasps his hand over mine, then looks at me. He didn’t put in a good word. He was just…”“Callum, d
CamilleIt’s been two days since I was rejected by Leonardo. Everything feels normal, but there’s a void in my chest. Everything, I feel like I’m missing something, and I don’t know what it is.I paid a visit yesterday to Olivia just to check on her recovery, and she’s doing better. When I spoke to Paul, I found out he was just working undercover to find out who was behind Jenna’s rebellion, and it turns out half of the council didn’t want Leonardo as Alpha. They claimed he was too diplomatic.I stand outside watching El run around the lawn with an omega who will be her nanny for now, before Callan assigns us a permanent one.“A penny for your thoughts?” Callan asks when he comes to stand next to me, hands crossed over his chest.“I’m just thinking I would love a really nice burger with a thick shake and loaded fries,” I say to him, and he laughs, shaking his head.“And this has nothing to do with some dark-haired Alpha?” he asks me as I chuckle, shaking my head.“Nope. It doesn’t. Th
Camille“Leonardo,” I cry, holding on tight to him as Salvatore shifts into his human form, walking towards us, dropping to his knees.“Brother,” he whispers, trying to touch him.“We need to get him to a doctor,” he says, hoisting his brother on his shoulders as I hold on tight to El, who won’t stop crying. I didn’t think my day would ever end like this. My mother ripped apart, limb by limb, and Leonardo was dying on me. I get up to my feet when the tawny wolf comes again, as I pause, looking at it. I don’t know if it’s an enemy or foe.“Hey. It’s me,” Maree shifts back into her human form, lifting her hands as I close my eyes, taking a deep breath as she comes towards me.“Thank you”“Come on. It’s over. Let’s head back home,” she says. I sniffle back, holding on tight to El as she leads me back to the warehouse.Cory shows up on the way when we get to the warehouse. Callan walks towards me with everyone else behind him.“Are you okay?” He asks, his eyes traveling down my body as I
Camille“No!” I scream, checking the back of the car, but El is gone.“Camille,” Her voice screams, and I look at Leonardo, who's fighting Jennna. I turn towards where El’s voice is coming from, I grab the gun, and make a run for it.“Camille, no!” Paul’s voice comes behind me, but I’m running as fast as I can deep into the woods. I don’t have good vision like the normal wolves, so I follow the sound of El’s screams.I run as fast as my feet can carry me towards them. When I see my mother and Aidan running, I lift my gun and aim for my mother. I fire two shots just past them, and both of them stop in their tracks, turning to look at me.My heart pounds so hard, and my hand trembles. I have never used a gun before, but I will fucking kill them for taking her from me.“Put her down,” I order as I get closer to them, my chest rising and falling as I get closer to them.“I won’t ask again.”“You can’t shoot me. I’m your mother,” she says as I chuckle, softly shaking my head. “You ceased t
Camille“How could you?” The words leave my lips. I don’t know what hurts the most. Knowing that I was married because of her, to protect her, or because Paul is the last person I expected to see Salvatore. This is why everything never worked out for Tore. I inhale sharply, nodding my head.“You’re an asshole, you know that, right?” I ask him, and he laughs, shaking his head. “I’m tired of being led by those backless assholes. Ruining everything because of some bitch like you,” he growls as I shake my head. This must be a mistake. Paul would never betray Salvatore. They are sworn enemies.“Listen, babe. We need to move. Salvatore just sent a message that they are moving,” he says to Jenna, kissing her cheek as I open my mouth, unable to believe what’s unfolding before me. These two are lovers.“Why?” I ask Jenna, who walks up to me, a smile playing on her lips.“To be fair, Leonardo is the reason for all of this. If only he had let me marry Salvatore, we wouldn’t be here. I wouldn’t b
Camille“Where are you taking me?” I ask the man who took me from the pack house, and he laughs.“Do you think we are stupid? That we don’t know that fucking asshole reads your thoughts?” he spits, his voice laced with so much venom. The smell of rot and cigarettes hit my nostrils as he continued to drive further out of the pack compound. My heart races as I look at him. They never bothered to check if I had a bag on me. That omega just led me out of the house. I quickly hid my phone in my pants while she walked ahead of me, leading me out of the pack house. Now I needed to find a way to communicate with whoever was on this phone. And I prayed it was on silent mode.“I thought she would be something special,” the man on my left laughs as I glance at him, then focus ahead. When we get into what seems like a warehouse, they drag me out of the car as my head races, thinking of what might happen to me.Is my mother really here? I swallow hard as they nudge me forward, and I walk, my feet
