Josie POV

We are sitting in the conference room, and I am staring off into space. I can hear the conversation around me, but I am not participating. I am trying to piece together the puzzle that has presented itself once again to me. I was desperate to know what was on the real letter that was hidden away somewhere. I know it might be foolish to hope one existed, but I had to believe in something. And that letter had carried me through some dark times so far, I suspected it would carry me through more in the coming days.

I kept replaying Shane’s final words. “They will be coming for me.”. Did he mean the part of the Council who was trying to take over the Council? The Council in general? I could not piece together why the Council would risk themselves by trying to save Shane. If he was even working with them.
