DEREK’S POV

Maya and I arrived at the Lycan King’s capital to see him.

As Maya and I walked through the entrance, I could feel the weight of countless eyes upon us. The guards flanking the doors stiffened at attention.

Word had already spread of our arrival.

We were immediately granted an audience with the Lycan King.

It was no surprise—war was at our doorstep, and time was a luxury we didn’t have.

The boardroom was packed with ministers, generals, and high-ranking officials. The king sat at the head of the long table.

“Alexander has already gone to the front lines,” the King informed us. “He is commanding the war effort personally.”

I felt a bit uneasy about this.

If Alexander was at the front, then the situation was more serious than I thought. The Western Plains forces were advancing faster than expected.

“Your mission,” the King continued, “is to mobilize the troops and reach the border before the enemy does. We cannot afford to lose that ground.”

I opened my mouth to respond, to

ELIZA’S POVReuniting with my friends after so long felt like a breath of fresh air.We had spent the first few hours catching up, sharing stories, and laughing as if no time had passed. But no matter how much fun I was having, the war was still on my mind and I knew I had to shift the conversation."Listen," I said, my tone turning serious. "The war against the Dune Kingdom is escalating. We need every capable fighter, and I know you all are some of the best."Vivi smirked, crossing her arms over her chest. "So, you’re asking us to join the army? That’s a hell of a way to welcome us back, Eliza."Rod let out a low whistle. "Damn. Straight to business, huh?"I shrugged. "I wouldn’t ask if I didn’t think we had a real shot at this. You’ve seen what they’re capable of. We can’t sit back and watch anymore. We have to do something."Cynthia nodded. Her eyes were practically gleaming with excitement. "Honestly, I was getting bored. Might as well put my skills to good use.""I’ve been itchi

ELIZA’S POVAlexander pulled away and looked at me with an intensity that made my breath hitch. His piercing blue eyes burned with something deeper, something raw.My pulse quickened as he reached for my hands, lifting them gently to his lips. The way he kissed them softly, like I was something precious—sent a shiver down my spine.“You are exquisite, Eliza,” he murmured. His voice was husky and thick with emotion. “I could spend a lifetime memorizing every inch of you and still not have enough.”Heat pooled in my abdomen at his words. My skin tingled where his fingers trailed along my wrists. My body reacted to him in ways I didn’t fully understand, but the ache inside me demanded more.I parted my lips, but no words came out—not when his hands had begun to explore, tracing slow patterns over my arms, my shoulders, my back.I gasped softly as he pulled me closer. His breath was warm, ragged, as if he were barely holding himself together.“I can’t stop myself any time I’m near you” he

ELIZA’S POVThe morning sun had barely come up when we were led into the training grounds. The soldiers were already deep in their drills.Today marked the beginning of our official training for the war.I stood in line with Vivi, Cynthia, Rod, and Boone. Each of us was dressed in fitted combat gear. The head guards circled the new recruits like hawks searching for weakness. They wouldn’t find any in us."We’ll start with basic combat drills," one of the lead trainers barked with his arms crossed over his chest. "Pair up. I want to see what you can do."I turned to my partner who was a broad-shouldered soldier with a cocky grin. He clearly thought this was going to be easy. I had no intention of making it so.The head guard, Captain Harlan, stepped beside us, looking at me."Watch closely," he instructed. He then demonstrated a swift takedown maneuver. It was meant to disarm and pin an opponent in a fluid motion. "Now, try it."Before my partner could react, I executed the move immedi

Alexander's POVThe battlefield was filled with clashing steel, and the cries of the wounded. The scent of blood thickened the air.I led the charge. My claws moved through the enemy ranks, cutting down the wolves of the Dune Kingdom without hesitation. My claws slashed through flesh, severing limbs. One lunged at me from the side.He was a massive wolf with fangs bared and claws outstretched.I ducked under his swipe, pivoting smoothly before driving my claws into his gut.His breath hitched. His eyes widened in shock before I twisted my claws and ripped them free.Blood sprayed across my face, warm and sticky. He crumpled at my feet. His body twitched before going still.I heard another snarl behind me.Instinct took over.I spun, raising my hand just in time to block an incoming strike. The force sent tremors up my arms, but I held my ground. My opponent, a Dune warrior with sand-colored fur, pushed against my hand with strength."You fight well, Alpha," he sneered, fangs flashing.

ELIZA’S POVThe moment we arrived at the camp, the air grew heavier. My heart pounded in my chest—not from nerves, but from the electricity in the air.And then, I saw him.Alexander stood near the center of the camp, speaking in hushed tones with the other marshals and generals.Even in crowd of warriors, he commanded attention with an effortless authority that sent shivers down my spine. There was something attractive about the way he carried himself. As if sensing my gaze, he turned. My breath hitched. Those intense blue eyes locked onto mine.In that moment, it felt as if we were the only two people in the world. I could feel my stomach getting heated up.My throat went dry, and for one reckless second, I let myself drown in the intensity of his stare. His expression was unreadable, but there was something there—something dark something that made my pulse race.I looked away. Quickly.Damn him.I forced myself to focus as I walked towards the gathering warriors.Vivi, Cynthia, Rod

ALEXANDER’S POVThe moment Eliza stepped into the tent with her companions, my gaze followed her involuntarily. It wasn’t intentional, nor was it something I had control over. She commanded my attention like a force of nature.I had this strong irresistible pull that left me helpless against it.I had never felt like this towards anyone before.Honestly? I never thought I could. The feeling I had for her was genuine and so strong that it made me scared sometimes. Her movements had this grace about them.Everything she did was calculated, yet there was an exhaustion in the way she carried herself. My eyes trailed down to her shoulder, and there, I saw an injury. Not only that, but there was blood. It was a fresh wound. I couldn’t help but feel concerned at the sight of it.My wolf was restless, demanding I protect my mate. The sight of her injured made me want to kill whoever did this to her.Damn it, Eliza. She had been pushing herself too hard again. It wasn’t surprising—she was stub

THIRD PERSON’S POVThe cold wind moved through the city walls of Illyria.Viktor Simons, Marshal of the Western Plains, stood on top of the balcony, looking over everything. In the distance, he could see the Lycan Kingdom’s camp. His gloved hands were clenched behind his back. The scent of wolves filled the air, sending a shudder through his own beast. His wolf stirred, not with fear, but with total hate.Viktor’s white hair remained untouched by the wind, but the cold air wrapped around him, making each exhale a cloud of ice.He could hear the snow crunching under the boots of approaching soldiers.Marshal Chandler of the Dune Kingdom was with them.Unlike Viktor, Chandler had spent his years fighting in the heat of the dunes, and the bitter cold of this northern front did little to suit him.“This march has taken its toll,” Chandler said, coming closer to Viktor, “The men need rest, Viktor. They’ve crossed leagues of frozen wasteland. Pushing them any harder may break them before ba

ELIZA’S POVI woke slowly. My body was heavy with exhaustion and my mind was reluctant to pull itself from the depths of much-needed sleep. The first thing I noticed was warmth. My eyelids fluttered open, and the sight of the canopy above me made my breath hitch.Alexander’s bed.The realization hit me hard and I turned my head to the side. He sat there, leaning against a table watching me with that intense look of his.“You’re awake,” he said softly.I smiled “I am.”His eyes searched my face. “How did you sleep?”“Well enough,” I replied, stretching beneath the sheets. I did not tell him how rare such rest was for me.And then I saw it—the worry in his eyes. The way his lips pressed together, as if he were holding something back.I sat up, my pulse quickening. “What is it?”Alexander hesitated. That alone made my stomach tighten. He was not a man who hesitated.“Eliza,” he began. He seemed hesitant “I received a letter not too long ago.”His hesitation only made my heart pound harde

DEREK'S POVMorning came, Maya and I led our troops across Illyria’s southern border. The banners of our kingdom snapped in the wind as we moved. My pulse hammered against my ribs, not from exhaustion but because of how uncertain I felt.I couldn’t put my finger on it. something just felt …off.“Something feels off,” Maya muttered. Her sharp eyes scanned the landscape ahead. Her gloved fingers tightened around the reins of her horse. She was right. There was no sign of conflict. No smoke, no cries of the wounded, no destruction beyond the natural harshness of winter. It was unsettling. The moment we rode past the first outpost, a scout galloped toward us.“The city’s been reclaimed, my lord.” He said.A weight dropped in my stomach.Maya straightened beside me with a frown on her face. “Already?”I exhaled slowly, controlling the frustration clawing at my chest. If Illyria had already fallen back into our hands, then Alexander and his forces had moved faster than we anticipated.Worse

ALEXANDER’S POVStanding inside my tent, I held the Lycan King's reply in my hands. My eyes scanned the carefully written words again and again. The letter stated that the King had gladly granted Eliza the rank of Fifth-Class Brave General in recognition of her outstanding contributions in reclaiming Illyria.A slow, satisfied smile spread across my lips. This was more than just an honor—it was proof of her strength, her determination. I was so proud of her.The paper felt heavier in my hands as I thought about what this truly meant.Eliza’s military rank now surpassed both Derek and Maya’s. By merit alone, the two of them should have earned higher positions, but they had chosen a different path.Instead of striving for true recognition, they had exchanged their military achievements for a marriage decree. This meant they had secured their place in Illyria through alliance rather than battle. But Eliza—Eliza had fought with her own hands, bled on the battlefield, and had proven hersel

ELIZA’S POVThe battlefield still reeked of blood and sweat. My body ached. My muscles screamed from the strain of combat, but the rush of adrenaline still coursed through my veins. The cold was supposed to hurt my skin, but I barely felt it. Not when I saw him.Alexander.He walked toward me slowly. His breathing was heavy from the fight. His dark hair was damp, filled with sweat and dirt.Yet, even covered in grime, he looked as breathtaking as ever. My heart clenched at the sight of him.A slow smile spread across his lips as he stopped in front of me.Without hesitation, he reached out and rested his forehead against mine.“You fought beautifully,” he murmured “I’m proud of you, Eliza.”A warmth spread through my chest at his words. I met his gaze with a smile “You didn’t do too bad yourself.”He chuckled “Flattery will get you everywhere, you know.”I laughed softly. People moved around us. The battlefield was still alive with movement, yet in this moment, it felt like just the t

THIRD PERSON’S POVUnder the cold moonlight, General Victor of the Western Plains looked down at the Lycan Kingdom's wolves from the towering walls of Illyria. His sharp eyes scanned the battlefield below, where the remnants of the first assault was—bodies scattered across the ground, the scent of blood thick in the air.The city’s wolves had been caught off guard, scrambling to organize their defenses. Now, the walls were lined with archers who were ready for another attack.Yet, the invading forces had withdrawn after only an hour, leaving the defenders uncertain. They were all tense.Victor exhaled sharply.Alexander’s strategy was beginning to take shape, but it was unimpressive so far.The first wave had been a feint. He knew it was meant to test their defenses. And now, as the night stretched on, the second assault came harder.A loud horn sounded from the enemy’s side, and within moments, thirty thousand wolves charged forward.Their war cries tore through the night as they ran

ELIZA’S POVAfter our heart-to-heart talk, Alexander looked deep into my eyes.It wasn’t until he reached out and ran a gentle finger over my arm that I followed his gaze and noticed the dried blood staining my skin. His jaw tightened. "You shouldn't have to sit in this filth," he said softly. Before I could protest, he turned to the nearest servant and ordered hot water to be prepared. The quiet authority in his voice sent a shiver through me, though whether from warmth or something deeper, I couldn't tell. When we got to his tent, the water was ready."I can do it—" I started, but he gave me a look that silenced me. Not out of dominance, but something else. A need to take care of me. A need I hadn’t realized I craved until now."Let me," he murmured, and I couldn’t refuse him.I sat before the basin. My heart hammered as he knelt beside me. Each brush of his knuckles against my skin sent warmth through me.He was careful as he peeled away my dirty clothes, revealing the bruises and

ELIZA’S POVThe candlelight reflected across the war table, highlighting the drawn battle maps and strategic placements marked in bold ink.My eyes remained fixed on Alexander as he leaned over the table. His brows were furrowed as his fingers moved over the map. His presence was magnetic, like a force that commanded attention, respect. He looked even more gorgeous when he was focused – the furrowing of his brows, his lips pressed into a thin line, the way strands of his hair fell over his face, the way he flexed his muscles.I was in awe.My wolf purred in satisfaction. The sight of him like this was enough to send heat spreading through me. I had to clench my thighs to control myself. He was so effortlessly charming that it hurt to look at him.His deep, steady voice echoed through the tent.We were all exhausted. Still, I couldn’t care less.It didn’t matter how tired I was. I could stand here and look at him all day, no matter how exhausted I was."We need to secure the eastern fl

ALEXANDER’S POVI stepped inside the war tent. My eyes immediately locked on the weary figure slumped in the chair before me.Despite the grime caking her skin, the dried blood at her temple, and the shadows beneath her eyes, Eliza was still the most breathtaking sight I had ever laid eyes on.She looked different now—no longer the radiant, untouchable warrior who had once been in the Seekers Guild. She looked raw, battered, and utterly exhausted. And yet, I was still drawn to her.My throat tightened as I watched her shift slightly. Her muscles seemed stiff from battle.I stepped forward, feeling worried about her, “How are you feeling?"She lifted her gaze, and those deep brown eyes met mine. "Thirsty," she said simply. "And hungry.""I imagine so." I gestured to the plate of bread and dried meat on the small table beside her. "Eat. And drink." My tone left no room for argument. She hesitated for only a moment before reaching for the water, tilting the flask back quickly.I watched

ELIZA’S POVI found myself face-to-face with Alexander. His blue eyes softened as he studied me. He had something in his eyes—concern, maybe even understanding.“Eliza,” he said gently “I know how you feel. Learning the truth like that… it’s a lot to take in. But drinking yourself into oblivion won’t change anything.”I swallowed hard, not wanting to meet his gaze. It wasn’t just the truth that had sent me spiraling—it was everything. The war, the constant fight for survival, the fact that my father and brother died for this. But then, Alexander’s eyes landed on the flask still in my grip. His gaze lingered, and I could see the discipline in his expression wavering ever so slightly.Ah.I knew that look. I’d seen it plenty of times from soldiers and other travelers alike. He wanted a drink.Biting back a smile, I rubbed at my sore nose, pretending not to notice. I didn’t say a word as Alexander turned on his heel and walked toward the command tent with the flask in hand.Boone’s jaw d
