Hera POV

The first light of morning creeps through the curtains, painting the room in shadows that don't quite chase away the night.

I barely slept throughout the night.

How could I?

Lily and I ended up in her bed sometime after midnight, after another nightmare jolted her awake.

Her tiny fists clutched my shirt as she whimpered without words, as if I was the only thing keeping her grounded.

I held her throughout the night, rocking her like a baby.

When I hear the doorbell ring softly, I slip out of bed carefully, tucking the blanket around Lily's shoulders.

For a moment, she stirs, eyes fluttering open but doesn't wake fully.

I pull on a hoodie over my tank top, the jeans from yesterday and head downstairs.

I find Nyx in the kitchen, already brewing coffee.

Her dark hair tied back in a messy bun. The bags under her eyes tell me she didn't have it easy last night.

"Hey," she says, pouring a mug and sliding it my way.

"How is Lily?"

I wrap my hands around the mug, the heat seepi

  • The Biker's Claim   i'm leaving

Mason POVHera and I take Lily with us to the clubhouse. Hera being the overprotective person she is insisted she didn't want to leave our daughter alone. "She's been through too much already," Hera said, her eyes serious as she buckled Lily into the car seat in the back. "I don't like the idea of her staying home without us, not tonight." I didn't push back. How could I? After all the hell we've been through, Lily's like a fragile little light we both want to shield. Hera's voice had that protective edge, the one that makes me love her more every time I hear it. She's right, Lily's been yanked around enough. The way Hera treats Lily is like she is her biological daughter. I would say, she treats her better than Linda would ever have. She packs extra snacks in the monkey bag, tucks Lily's favorite stuffed bear under her arm, and even hums that silly lullaby tune to keep her calm during the drive. Watching Lily smile from the back seat warms my heart. It's moments like this that

  • The Biker's Claim   an agreement

Hera POV“She looks so happy and peaceful,” I add, my eyes watering from the sight before me. Seeing Lily happy makes me happy too.“Yeah. I hope she can always be this happy,” Mason replies from beside me. Our wishes are the same.Lily has been through so much at her young age. She doesn't deserve any of the things that have been happening to her.First, her mother left while she was small. She grew up without motherly love and when Linda came back into her life, it was with a purpose. Her schemes interrupted Lily's life. Let's not even talk about how she plotted with Finn and had Lily held hostage. Then came Helena who didn't care that she was a child and dragged her into adult schemes. I always count myself unlucky for having an unhappy childhood. Looking at Lily, I have no reason to complain. I had my father doting on me before he became too lazy to breathe.Although my mother and sister never liked me, at least they never put me in danger. That leaves me with a question: how can

  • The Biker's Claim   amazed too

Hera POVLooking back, I sigh with contend, grab my phone and send a quick message to Zeus.I pocket the phone and slide behind the wheel igniting the car.Ghost and Shadow take the back passenger seats. The drive back to Chicago feels stretchy. I think back to what I just did. Killing Finn felt right in the moment, like closing a door after years of nightmares. But now? Driving away, it leaves me asking myself,Who am I becoming? The woman who buries men alive? I have to be honest, It scares me a little, but I would do it again without blinking for my family. We drive back partly in silence and partly Shadow teasing Ghost occasionally. When the clear sky of Chicago greets us,I drop them at the Shadow Riders clubhouse. "Thanks for the ride, MG. We owe you one." His eyes say more, gratitude, maybe respect, mixed with that shared shadow of what we did.“ I should be the one thanking you. You've done a good job.” I reply.“ It was a pleasure working alongside you. Now I understand why

  • The Biker's Claim   dangerous life

Hera POVAfter driving for hours, I finally pull outside a building. It's a familiar one , except for the wrong reason. It's the same peeling paint, same rusted door where I clawed my way out years ago. It's the same place Amelia's screams echoed, begging and pleading.Stepping out of the car, a weird feeling overwhelms me. It's like I have time traveled back to those dark days. Before I can take a step forward, a loud scream echoes, carrying on the wind like a ghost's wail. I don't need to second guess whose scream that is, not with the clear instructions I gave Ghost and Shadow last night. A smile paints my lips. Good, let him suffer and have a taste of the hell he put Amelia and all those other women he forced himself on through. I spot Ghost and Shadow waiting by the side door. One look at them and their faces scream tired."Morning my soldiers. You don't look so good." I comment. Ghost doesn't say a word. Shadow grins.“ We stayed up the whole night keeping an eye on that bast

  • The Biker's Claim   last detail

Hera POVI turn to look at the guards and motion for them to wait outside. They file out without a word. I have questions to ask them, like how did they end up passed out in the house and not by their working station. Why did they leave the gate unguarded when I gave them strict instructions never to do so after the incident with Finn. They have a lot to explain but for now, my priority is Lily. She is still terrified and in shock and if she doesn't release that tension, it could harm her mentally. The ordeal she went through today was traumatising, not to mention she was still recovering from the last kidnapping and losing her mother.I can't believe how unlucky she is. It makes me question everything we are fighting for. We are the reason she keeps getting dragged in adult conflicts when she is innocent.Somehow, it makes me feel irresponsible.Mason shifts, careful not to disturb Lily. It seems like he wants to question the guards right away. That's important but not urgent."Later
