SERENA
"Mom, do you think Lionel will be returning tonight?" I asked my mom as she slid the spatula under one of the chicken laps and turned it. My mouth watered at both the sight of the meals and the sweet smell that filled the whole kitchen. We were making buttermilk fried chicken, garlic mashed potatoes with creamy coleslaw as the main dish and gingerbread cookies as dessert. We were almost done, except for the last batch of chicken laps still frying in the skillet. It was the night of Christmas Eve, and of course my mom made sure to keep the house as festive as the season. We had several light garlands on the walls of almost every room, a huge and glowing Christmas tree in the living room, some pairs of stockings hung by the fireplace, pine scented candles on the dining table, some Christmas carols on the radio...I could go on and on with the list. It was just sad that my dad was no longer alive too celebrate with his family. He passed away three years ago. "Yeah, he will," she turned off the heat, removing the pan from the burner. Dinner was ready and I just couldn't wait to have mine, whether my brother was coming home or not. "But he hasn't returned any of my calls or replied my texts." I was about to steal a piece of chicken wing when my mom slapped my hand away. "You worry too much about that boy, Serena. Lionel is an adult now." She said, while giving me a side eye. "Someone that had just turned eighteen a month ago" I mumbled with a sigh. And ever since he turned eighteen, he has been coming home late... doesn't let anyone know of his whereabouts. "Doesn't make any difference, Serena." My mom had my hand in hers, and literally dragged me out of the kitchen. As a huge foodie, my mom knew that I might finish half of what she had prepared before Lionel got back. "Alright, mom, I agree with you. Can I...oh sorry, can we have dinner now?" My stomach was rumbling like crazy as we sat down on the sofa in the living room. "No, let's wait for your brother to..." She was cut off her ringing phone. "Ohh, that must be him." And it was. My mom slid the call through, with a smile on her face. "Honey," I was about calling him name out loudly when the smile on my mom's face disappeared in seconds. "What...what do you mean?" She was up from the sofa, her voice shaking. "Mom, what's going on?" I stood up from the sofa as well, trying so hard to listen to what Lionel was saying. "Hospital? Which..." Unable to hold myself any longer, I took the phone from her hands, putting it on loud speaker. "Lionel?" He wasn't the one who responded, the sound of a woman's voice was what I heard. "He was hit by a bike...which left him bleeding seriously" These words punched me to the gut... I forgot to breathe for a second. My eyes got wet instantly, but I held the tears back. I'd have to be strong one here. "No, no!" My mom cried out, almost falling to the ground. I had to hold her and we both sat down on the sofa. "You should come to Scripps Memorial Hospital before he..." "Nothing will happen to my brother," I said firmly. "We're coming." I said, ending the call. Thank goodness Scripps Memorial wasn't far. We were at the hospital in ten minutes, assuring both myself and my mom that Lionel would be fine. I could not afford to lose my only sibling and another family member after my dad's death. But then, it was already too late. My brother died five minutes ago...the doctor's words. My mom was on the floor, shaking and crying like the world had come to an end. The tears I had perfectly held back flowed down both of my cheeks as I crouched down to the floor to console my mom. She's the only family I got now. God, this was never how I planned to spend my Christmas. As I stood beside the hospital bed, staring at my brother's lifeless face, I swore silently in my heart, 'I will find whoever did this...and make them pay.'KNOXXI didn't exactly see her the moment I entered. But I did notice some movements at the very end of the garage where she was, I suppose. I took my steps very lightly, making sure she didn't hear me as I got closer to the end. Despite the garage's poor lighting, I was able to still see.I've caught sight of her now. She was crouched beside the last bike close to the wall, her phone in one hand with its torchlight turned on. She was seriously checking out the bike as if she had seen it somewhere, wait...I was seeing an image of the same bike on her phone screen. "Shit!" She breathed out a quiet curse when something slipped out her purse and rolled under the bike. She rose to her feet, bent over the bike, forcing her naked ass cheeks straight to my face...Holy fuck! They were round, smooth and very plump....not forgetting to put bubble-like. She wasn't wearing anything under this whole time... 'Focus, Knoxx, focus. This is not why you're here.' I mentally hit myself. She had pick
KNOXXIf I had known, I would have listened to my instincts and stayed in my room as I've always done during club parties. Ax was the one who did the convincing."Do you always have to be a no fun person, Havoc?" This was a conversation between us hours ago before the party."I'm the club's president, Ax. The time I'll spend partying away, I could use that for more important things. Are you not seeing what's going on?" The important things here, I mean playing chess alone and mentally using it to figure how to destroy enemies of the club, or finishing up Sun Tzu's The Art of War that I was reading last night...or adding some shit to my notes, haven't written in close to two months now."Don't make me laugh, Havoc. And just this one night, you'll find all the solutions to the club's problems." "Nothing is impossible, Ax." I squeezed my coffee cup and threw it into the nearest bin. It was barely six pm in the evening and this was my ninth cup for today, would definitely have two or thr
SERENA"Hope you're okay?" Zoey must have noticed how I went totally quiet...her doctor instincts, I guess. She'd be thinking that the shot must have taken a toll on me. The vodka or whatever that was inside was awful but it wasn't the reason why I was shaken. The reason was on the other side of the hall."Of course, I'm okay." I forced a smile, despite the bitter and harsh taste stuck to my tongue. The cocktails, I believe, that Layla had ordered was brought to our table."Here," Layla gave me one glass which had an orange slice placed on its rim. "It is called Sex on the Beach." "I hope it's not as terrible as..." I made a distasteful face while gesturing at my empty shot glass."Nope, it's very mild, you may not even taste the vodka in it."I sipped a little first to confirm. She didn't lie. It was sweet, having peach blended with orange kind of taste which made me want another sip immediately. While enjoying myself with a glass of Sex on the Beach, I haven't forgotten that I woul
SERENAZoey: Serena, don't tell me you bailed out last minute. Layla: maybe, she did. I've been trying to call her, but she hasn't picked up. Party started thirty minutes ago.Me: of course not, ladies. Layla, I apologize for not picking up, I was getting ready...and I'm on my way already.I took a quick picture of my boots and sent to the group chat consisting of Layla, Zoey and I... Delilah's phone was having screen issues, she'd be joining the group later when her phone gets fixed. The cab that I was in finally got to the gates of the clubhouse. I was expecting to hear loud, vibrating music from inside, but I didn't. Right in front of the gate, everywhere was damn quiet. Layla said party has begun...maybe I should go in first to confirm.I was out of the cab already, by the widow of the passenger's seat, my right hand stretched out to the driver to pay for my ride. Two minutes passed, he hasn't taken the money from my hands. I wasn't even looking at him until I drifted my eyes to
SERENAThis week has been stress-free in a way. I had only jacket designs for the old ladies to work on which I used the whole of Wednesday to create. And I went to the club house on Thursday to go check on the progress of Harper and her team as Chanel had told me. The main thing I was looking forward to this week was the club party happening this Saturday. Since I would not be busy today being Friday, I decided it would be a perfect time for me to going back to my apartment, get some of my clothes and other stuff."Willa, I'm heading home.""Why? Am I making you uncomfortable? If it's the Havoc talk, fine, I will stop." This best friend of mine suddenly became alert."Willa, oh my God, look at the way you're freaked out" I laughed. "I'm only going to get some important stuff. I'm coming back today.""Thank goodness. You had me thinking deep for a moment.""But you know I won't stay with you forever. I'll have to move out someday...""Yes, to your husband's house. Or Havoc's, maybe."
KNOXX It's been two days of torturing the two idiots who tried to ambush my club members and I on our way coming back from a ride to MOA. Yet they have chosen to keep their mouths shut as to who sent them. The club's doctor, Philip, was on always on standby, ready to stitch and clean them up.It was presently the night of day two."Do you think they will talk?" Ax asked while Blade made a new whip from the ones he destroyed on their bodies. The two men were tied up to a long pole, their hands together and their bodies hanging on the air. Ax and Blade were the ones doing the punishing while I stood and watched. The basement which was out of bounds to the rest of the clubhouse, was the usual place where the club's captives were thoroughly dealt with."One way or the other, they have no choice." I said in response. "From the look of things, these bastards have chosen to die. They have decided not to say shit." Ax hissed. The death part was what I was avoiding...reason why I didn't wan
