عرض المزيدSerena’s POV
The waves crashed against the rocks. I stood on the beach and watched as the tide came in, the vivid sunset casting a pinky-orange glow across the water. It was a beautiful, stunning sight. This is paradise on earth. I breathed in the warm, salty air and let out a long breath. The sea never let me down; it always lifted my spirits, even in the most challenging times. I had escaped my cruel ex-husband, and now I was finally back in an environment I loved. I walked further along the shoreline to a rocky, secluded cove. After stripping off my clothes and placing them safely on a rock, I ran nude into the sea. I gasped with pleasure as the cool water hit my skin. I waded in deeper until my body was fully immersed, then plunged beneath the surface and swam out to the open sea. I swam until the water grew deep and dark. Going under, I twirled and did somersaults in the water. For the first time in a long time, I was free and at peace. I could do things no other wolf could do. At least, I hadn't met anyone else with my abilities. I was an outcast to my pack because of it; they didn't understand why I could stay underwater for hours or swim so far out to sea. I remembered my mother’s puzzled words: "You can stay underwater longer than is humanly possible, Serena, but you can't shift?" I didn't know my wolf. I had shifted only once in my life when I was a child. The only other time she had ever stirred was a faint, smothered flicker when Malcolm had his hand wrapped tightly around my throat. He had growled at me ferociously when he felt that tiny spark. "I thought you couldn't shift!" he had snarled in anger. "What, do you want to try and intimidate me with your wolf? Fight me! Come on, shift! Show me what you've got!" He let out a disgusted laugh, tightening his grip on my neck. "My wolf wants to meet yours." You're safe now, I told myself, snapping back to reality and shaking off the memory. No more negative thoughts. You're safe. I looked around the calm, comforting, shadowy depths of the water. Suddenly, a piercing, alarming sound vibrated through the deep, sending sharp ripples shivering through the water. I quickly clamped my hands over my ears; the noise was deafening. After a few moments, the sound stopped, but the strange ripples remained. When I was in the water, my senses were highly amplified, allowing me to detect danger from far away. I knew something was wrong. I swam cautiously back toward the shore. As I got closer, the ripples turned into choppy waves. That was when I saw him: a man flailing his arms in pure panic. "Help! Help!" he screamed between mouthfuls of water. In the distance, a boat drifted uselessly. Suddenly, the man’s flailing arms stopped. His body went completely still, slipping beneath the surface. I swam faster, cutting through the water like a knife. When I reached him, I grabbed him, positioning his head safely above the water, and swam the short distance back to the shore. As I neared the shallows, another man who had been starting up a jet ski killed the engine when he saw us. "Hey!" he yelled, jumping into the water to help. "Oh my god, lucky you found him! He must have gone in for a swim from the boat over there," he said, pointing out to sea. He grabbed the drowning man from me, dragging him roughly onto the sand. "Hey!" I yelled. "What the hell are you doing? Be careful with him!" The man ignored me and immediately began trying to resuscitate him. Within seconds, the poor man spluttered, coughing up a lungful of seawater. The rescuer stopped and looked up at me. A slow smirk spread across his face as his eyes traveled over me from head to toe. "It's not every day I see a beautiful, naked woman save someone on this beach," he said, throwing his head back with a laugh. "What are you, a mermaid?" I froze, reality hitting me. I was completely naked. A burning heat rushed straight to my face. Turning on my heel, I ran. Panic surged through me. I had stayed too long; I should have vanished the moment help arrived. No one could find out who I was, or why I was here. I waded back into the water just as the jet ski engine roared to life behind me. I glanced back wildly toward the shore. The man I had saved was now surrounded by a handful of locals, but the man on the jet ski was coming straight for me, closing the distance fast. "Hey! Come here!" he shouted. Nightfall had officially set in. The distant glow from the manor and the street lamps along the coastal road illuminated the beach. Against the light, the man's silhouette looked terrifyingly menacing. I turned toward the open sea, took a deep plunge into the safe shadows of the ocean, and swam hard. Using the dark depths as cover, I navigated all the way back to the other side of the beach where I had left my clothes. I climbed onto the rocks, shivering, and reached for my top. Suddenly, an overwhelming sensation washed over me—a feeling unlike anything I had ever experienced. A sudden, intense heat vibrated from the inside out. It felt like liquid fire flowing through my veins, followed by a powerful, unyielding pull. I stood up, my gaze drawn instantly toward the dense forest bordering the sand. I heard wolf howls echoing in the distance, but the sensation inside me remained, pulling me forward like a magnet. I stared into the dark tree line. The leaves rustled, followed by the heavy, deliberate sound of footsteps. Guided by the magnetic pull, I took a few steps toward the shadows. That was when he emerged. A large, powerfully built man stepped out from the trees. Even in the darkness, his commanding silhouette was undeniable. His wavy blonde hair glistened in the moonlight, looking almost as bright and brilliant as the moon itself. He took strong, confident steps toward me. He was shirtless and barefoot, his chest and biceps rippling with every movement. As he drew closer, I saw his eyes—they were a striking, emerald green with shimmering gold flecks. An overwhelming wave of attraction crashed over me. I wanted him. I wanted him right now. I couldn't explain the feeling, and I didn't want to. He stood in front of me, raw desire burning in his gaze. He stared at me intensely, the gold flecks catching the light. Reaching out, he wrapped a strong arm around my waist and pulled me flush against his hard chest. I welcomed his touch, my body quivering with a wild, undeniable heat. "Beautiful," he whispered, his lips brushing mine. His kiss sent a jolt of pure electricity surging through my veins. He tasted me with a primal hunger, as though he could never get enough. He pulled back just enough to look into my eyes. "Mine," he growled, his voice deep and possessive. He lifted me into his arms, letting my body slide slowly down the length of his. I reached up, tracing the chiseled contours of his face and chest, a quiet whimper escaping me. Heat radiated off him in waves. He kissed me again—deeper this time—and I met him hungrily. He stepped back, pulling me into the full moonlight. His gaze swept over my trembling body. I ached to feel him close to me. "Please," I moaned. He eased me down onto the warm sand, the ocean waves lapping at our tangled limbs. "Please—more," I whispered, gripping his waist to pull him closer. He settled over me, pressing his hardness gently into my slick, swollen entrance. I gasped with ecstasy. He plunged deeper. "Mine," he growled, driving into me. His lips trailed hot, burning kisses along my collarbone and neck. As we moved together, our bodies locked in a primal rhythm, I felt his tongue drag across my throat before his teeth sank gently into my flesh, marking me as his. I took a sharp, gasping breath. His mouth then found my breast, his tongue circling my taut nipple. A whimper escaped me, my fingers tangling in his hair as the friction between us grew. He began to move with a steady, powerful tempo, building the tension until a molten heat flooded through me. My body shattered with ecstasy, pulsing around him. An instant later, he growled, his body shaking as he came inside me, the gold flecks in his eyes blazing. We held each other close under the moonlight. He lifted his head, letting out a low, possessive growl. "You're mine, baby. Mine," he murmured, a breathtaking possesive smile curving his lips.Cole's POV "She's married, Alpha—and she ran away from her husband." I felt like I had been punched straight in the gut. The air left my lungs in a sharp gasp. "That can't be true. She's unmarked. She would have been marked by now if she was truly claimed." "Well, Alpha, the information came from a reliable source—Mason, the ex-police officer." "Yes, I know Mason," I muttered, expelling a heavy breath. I rubbed my temples, trying to clear the sudden fog of anger and confusion. "But I still want to hear the story from Serena herself. She will be the only one who can tell me the whole truth." "I understand, Alpha. But I need to tell you-she has been married for four years, and there is no record of a divorce. On paper, she's still married." I stared out over the ocean, my mind racing. I began to wonder, thinking back to the beach. I didn't scent her, or any other man on her. I hadn't really questioned her being completely unscented at the time, only because I had been
Serena's pov I walked closer to the door and took a peek through the curtain. I could see nothing through the frosted window, only shadows. I plucked up the courage and asked, "Who is it?" "Dean Myers. We live across the street." I hesitated, unsure of whether I should open the door or not. Then I heard another voice. It was a woman. "Yeah, we didn't realize anyone had moved in. We saw the light on when we were driving past." "Yes, just checking to make sure everything is okay," Dean added. Once satisfied the visitors had nothing to do with Malcolm, I pulled the door open a crack. I set eyes on a petite, red-haired woman. "I'm Melissa," she said with a warm smile. "And this is my husband, Dean. Nice to meet you." "Hello," I said, offering a little smile. Dean, who was standing behind his wife, cleared his throat. "Well, great. If you should need anything, don't you hesitate to drop by." "Thank you," I said with a nod. They flashed one last smile befor
Serena's pov Cole guided me upstairs, his hand resting gently against the small of my back. He led me into an ensuite bedroom that was absolutely beautiful, centered around a stunning four-poster bed. "If you don't mind, I would like to freshen up... and I do need to get back home," I said, looking around at my luxurious surroundings. I walked over to the large, floor-length windows. This room wasn't facing the beach, but instead looked out over the bustling coastal roads lined with sophisticated boutique shops and designer stores. "Home?" Cole repeated, looking at me, completely confused. The word seemed entirely foreign to him now that he had found me. He shook it off quickly. "Okay, here's what we'll do. Freshen up first. There should be new robes and towels in the bathroom, and we'll talk afterward." I went into the bathroom and turned on the shower. The warm water felt incredible against my skin. I had felt so grubby and scruffy, even more so standing in the middle
Serena's pov I slept incredibly well in my mate's arms, both of us completely spent after our lovemaking. We had originally drifted off to sleep right there on the sand, with the gentle waves of the tide engulfing us. But at some point in the night, he had briefly woken up. Lifting me into his strong arms as if I were nothing more than a fragile doll, he had carried me into the safe perimeter of the forest, away from the exposed beach and the rising tide. Now, the sun was breaking beautifully through the morning clouds at sunrise. I turned toward my mate. In the daylight, he looked more handsome than ever. He had warm, tanned skin, a strong, chiseled face, and those shocking blond curls falling softly across his forehead. To me, he looked like a sculpted son Goddess. His body was a masterpiece, looking as though someone had carved it out of solid stone-strong, defined, and powerful. I gently placed my hand against my neck, feeling the mark he had left there. It was stil
