Junior Smith is my soulmate. He treats me like the queen that I am, he's kind, funny, handsome and he treats me with great respect. He's the perfect man for me and I can't say how excited I am to be taking this next step with him.
At times I sit back and just admire him, because how the hell did I ever get so lucky?
He was sitting next to me with his hand holding mine and tracing circles on it as we sat in his apartment, speaking to our wedding planner, who was a man named Jared. Jared was one of the most famous party planners in our city and Junior and I only wanted the best for our wedding.
"Alright," Jared said as he sat across from us, "as you know, I booked The Palace," he told us which was a beautiful old castle that looked like a dream, "I gave you the only invite we had made so far," Jared pointed at me and I nodded and Junior looked at me confused.
"Wait, I thought we said we're giving out invites a month before the wedding," he pointed out truthfully and I placed my hand on his bicep.
"We are," I agreed, "but I had to give Mr Miller that one invite way ahead of time because I know he's really busy."
"Oh," Junior nodded and then looked at Jared.
"Alright, we're only having 50 people at the wedding?" Jared asked as he ticked something on his page and we agreed.
"What is the budget? Now that we've paid for The Palace," Jared paused and we both looked at Junior as he looked at me.
"Well, I want to give Zara her dream wedding," I smiled at that, unable to stop it because that meant the budget was going to be a number I would like to hear, "I know she wants a carriage with white horses and all kinds of fancy things," Junior leaned toward and kissed me on my lips and I returned the kiss, "so, excluding the budget for the dress, $40,000 for the wedding."
I saw Jared's eyes widen in excitement, "$40,000? Oh yes, this wedding is going to be one for the books."
I couldn't stop my excited little dance, "what's my budget for my wedding dress?" I asked him.
"$12,000 at most," he said sternly but that was more than enough for me, I thought he was going to give me a max budget of $4,000 but this was beyond anything.
"Junior," I said happily as I threw my arms around his neck, "thank you! Thank you!" I turned to Jared, "let's start planning!" I said excitedly.
"Alright," Jared said excitedly, "so we're having the engagement party next weekend?" Jared said more than asked.
"That budget of $40,000 includes the engagement party, the bridesmaids dresses, the groomsmen suits and my suit," Junior said pointedly but it was more than enough. I wasn't going to spend more than a few hundred’s for my bridesmaids dresses.
Besides, I only had two bridesmaids and Junior also had two groomsmen so we wouldn't go too wild.
"We have to go shopping for you engagement dress," Jared said pointedly and I sighed. We were supposed to have went a whole week ago but I've been so busy with work and Mr Miller. It seems like he's piling on the work and I don't understand why.
"I'm sorry," I sighed as I looked down at the Rolex watch that Junior had bought for me as a birthday present last year, "but I have to go to the office soon," I said as I looked at Junior, "I have work to do. I'll try to make it tomorrow, but I don't know..."
"Listen, just ask your boss for a few hours off. We just have to get a dress and that's that. We'll come back before your break is over. Just speak to him," Jared suggested and I nodded, until my phone suddenly rang.
I held the iPhone to my ear, "hello?"
"Zara, I need you at the office," was all he said before he abruptly cut the call and I sighed.
"I have to go," I said as I stood up and bent down to kiss Junior, "I love you," I told him truthfully.
"I love you too," he said as he caressed my face before I stepped back and kissed Jared on the cheek.
"You two can discuss while I'm gone. Jared, just video call me later on to tell me what you discussed. Baby, I'll call you when I get home from work. I love you, keep safe," I said in a rush as I rushed out of Junior's cool loft apartment.

I knocked on his office door, waiting for him to tell me that I could enter. I ran my hands over the ruffles on my dress that excited the little girl in me.
"Come in," I heard him say and I pushed open the door, closing it behind me, "Zara, what is it?" he asked me as he paged through a thick folder on his table, not looking up at me.
"I finished all of my work and checked up on meetings, and everything's good. So, I'm going home now," I told him and he didn't answer me, just carried on with whatever he was doing, "... Sir...?"
He looked up from his work and at me, tilting his head, "yes?"
"I, uh," I got nervous, "I was wondering if I could have tomorrow off? Or maybe just a few hours? " I asked him, waiting for him to give me an answer.
"Why?"
"I have to," I hoped he wouldn't say no once he heard this, "I have to go shopping for a dress with my wedding planner."
"Wedding dress shopping?"
"No, a dress for my engagement party," I said softly, praying he wouldn't disregard me now that he knew I needed to do some shopping, "I would've gone shopping during my free time but I don't really have any free time."
He was silent, watching me, "alright, you can go," he paused, "on one condition."
"Of course, sir, anything."
"I get to go with you."
"Jared," I paused as I turned and smiled at my wedding planner, "meet, my boss, Mr Miller."I could see the change in Jared's facial expression. The surprise was clear on his face and to be honest, I was just as surprised at Mr Miller's request but I didn't- couldn't say anything. I had to make the situation feel normal by reasoning with myself that he only wanted to come with me to go dress shopping? And there's nothing wrong with that. Jared quickly composed himself and smiled widely, "it's lovely to meet you, Mr Miller," Jared even went as far as winking at Mr Miller and my eyebrows raised in surprise at the gesture, but to be honest, it's not the first time anyone's ever flirted with Mr Miller.Mr Miller is an extremely good looking man and everyone falls victim to his good looks."Can we get started?" I asked Jared because I didn't want to waste Mr Miller's time. I was here during his time and I don&rsqu
Junior and I both live terribly busy lives. Whenever I’m free, he’s not and whenever he’s free, I’m not but we don't stop trying to make this relationship work. I work hard at my job and I make sure I know everything there is to know about my boss, Mr Miller. I have to be there at his beck and call even if it's midnight on a Saturday night and I'm lying in Junior’s arm. If my phone rings and it's Mr Miller, I have to be there. With Junior, he had to prove himself all the time even though he was more than perfect at his job. He had to fight his way to the top, or more like fight his way into being a permanent employee at his company. All of his struggles have paid off. He’s not all there but as much as I live a beautiful life, so does Junior. He has a stunning loft apartment, a BMW X6 and excellent credit. We both understand how much hard work goes into living so comfortably so we give each other the
"So," Mr Miller spoke up as though he couldn't sense the awkwardness surrounding us at this moment, "Mr Smith, why don't you tell me a bit about how the two of you met?" he asked as he looked at me, then his eyes moved to Junior briefly, before his eyes were on me again and I distracted myself with the pizza on the table and then poured myself some more red wine."We met in school," Junior said simply and I looked at Junior to see if he was feeling some type of way about Mr Miller and I gathered from his eyes that he wasn't too fond of Mr Miller.I placed my hand atop of his, calming him down. At the end of the day, this was my boss and I do as much sucking up as I need to do, to ensure that check, "we were high school sweethearts, Mr Miller," I smiled at him, and then looked at his date Yolanda who was watching me with an expressionless face, "he was a jock and I was the good girl who was his tutor. We dated from tenth grade until sen
The ride back home with Junior was silent. I tried to crack several funny jokes but it didn’t work and Junior didn’t even grace me with a scoff or huff, he just gave me the cold shoulder. I was dreading whatever we would have to talk about but I knew that a fight was coming. I parked my car into his extra assigned parking space and we both got out of the car. He threw his arm over my shoulder as we walked into his apartment building and made our way up into his loft apartment.I didn't want to go inside because I knew the moment we did, there would be an argument. I watched as he unlocked the door and opened it. I held my breath as I walked into his apartment and watched as he began taking off his jacket. He tossed his keys onto the kitchen counter and he finally faced me to give me a pissed off look."What the hell is going on between you and your boss?" he snapped at me and looked at me expectantly."
I could feel Stanley's eyes on me as I stiffly sat in one of his chairs in his office. I had stormed in here, poured myself some of his strongest whiskey and gulped it down before I filled an entire glass and threw a whole tray of ice into it."Fuck!" I exclaimed, slamming my hand on his desk as I formed my left hand into a tight fist, unable to stop my angry outbursts. I've had one every single day, especially after I see her. Ever since I found out she was fucking engaged.Zara, engaged? Who the fuck did she think she is? Letting some man marry her."Well, did you find out anything about him?" I asked Stanley through gritted teeth, He was standing in the corner of the room with his hands in his pockets. Today, he was the calm one.It was always the other way
When Mr Miller calls, I come running because he is, after all, my boss. So when he called me at 10 pm just when I was all snuggled up in my bed, trying to sleep, I got up and threw on some decent clothes. Well if you think that a pair of yoga pants and one of Junior's hoodies and a pair of Adidas sneakers as decent, then I was decent as hell.I loved wearing Juniors clothes, they were so big and cosy on my 5'7" frame.I was at Mr Miller's mansion in less than an hour and I walked inside his house, already having keys to his home. Every night he sends all of his workers home including his house keeper and butler, the only security he has are the guys at his front gates leading up to the house. He gave me the keys to his house a year ago because he didn't want to keep answering the door."Mr Miller?" I called out as I walked through the foyer of his beautiful home and looked around for him. I won
When I started eating, he had already cleared his plate and I regret not eating while he had been eating because his undivided attention was on me now. I could feel his eyes because he stared with intensity that I felt the hairs on the back of neck rise while I tried to ignore him.I cleared my throat, trying to not choke on my words as I built up the courage to finally look at him and say something, "you're making me feel uncomfortable, Elijah," I told him but his face was blank and his eyes still held that intense stare. He didn't say anything, but he held my gaze. I bit the inside of my cheek, unsure about what to do next, "me simply looking at you, makes you uncomfortable, Zara?" he asked me, filling his glass with even more champagne and then refilling mine for me."I-it's more like...yes, it makes me uncomfortable," I tried to talk but I couldn't find the words because he was still looking at me and I saw the
I had prayed long and hard before I went to work today. I prayed for forgiveness from God for whatever wrong I've done Him and begged for His protection from Mr Miller because I didn't ever want to betray Junior. I didn't want to go to work but I had asked for Friday off in preparation for my engagement party on Saturday night, so I had to make up for my off weekend by being at work every day until.I covered up as much as I could before I came to work because I still had to look professional. I don't know how it's going to help me today since I'm always covered from head to toe every day because even though I was covered last night, he still had an effect on me. My clothes served as a shield.I was dreading seeing him, so I avoided him for the most part. I asked the secretary to give him his cup of tea and scones, and she was all too happy to do so. She had a very big crush on him and everyone at work knew. I mean, all of the women he
