ALESSA'S POV

My heart was still thundering in my chest as I pressed my palm flat against it, trying to calm the wild rhythm that refused to settle.

The room was dim, the curtains drawn so that only thin strands of light crept through, stretching into long shadows across the walls.

The sudden voice that had pierced the silence had nearly ripped the breath out of me, and for a moment I thought my lungs might collapse under the weight of the fright.

Then, from behind the carved wooden screen in the corner, a slim figure stepped forward with a flourish, her braids catching the faint light as she tossed them over her shoulder.

“Hey, Lessa, chill, it’s me! It’s me, just calm down,” Disha said quickly, her hands raised in mock surrender.

Her lips curved into that mischievous smile I knew all too well, the kind that always gave her away and somehow managed to rescue her from every scrape she got into.

I let out a sharp breath, something between a laugh and a groan, before dropping back on

MICHAEL'S POV I had barely closed the door behind me when silence settled over my room. The lock clicked into place, and for a moment I simply stood there, leaning against the wood, trying to let the whirlwind of the day sink in. The proposal. Her tears. The way her hand trembled when I slid the ring onto her finger. And then that skyscraper, the look in her eyes when she realized it wasn’t just a gift, it was her legacy.I should have felt accomplished, proud even, I had just completed that part of our now invalid contract. Instead, I felt restless.Crossing the room, I tugged my tie loose and sat heavily on the edge of the bed, pressing my palms against my knees. For once, I wanted the stillness to wash over me. But it didn’t. My body was too alert, as if even behind closed doors, some part of me remained tethered to her. Then it happened. Her voice split the quiet like glass shattering….“Oh my God!”My entire body jerked. My heart slammed against my ribs. The sound was so raw,

  • The Billionaire Broken Bride—Married To My Enemy.   CHAPTER 83: Where Hearts Belong.

ALESSA'S POV The clock had long passed eight when the warmth of my mother’s home finally began to tug at the edges of night. Soft lamplight spilled through the windows, painting gentle patterns on the polished floors, while the faint scent of chamomile and lavender lingered, wrapping me in a blanket of familiarity and comfort. Every corner of the house felt alive with memories, each familiar creak of the floorboards and rustle of curtains whispering stories of love and care. Tonight, it felt more like a haven than ever before, a place where time slowed just enough to savor the simple, human joys of family and home.I stood near the door, smoothing the fabric of my dress, and turned to Michael with a small smile. “I think I’m ready,” I said, my voice lighter than I felt, though happiness still bubbled beneath it. There was a gentle flutter in my chest, a mix of excitement and lingering warmth from the evening’s moments, hugs, laughter, and the kind of tender gazes that could only

ALESSA'S POVThe car glided smoothly through the quiet streets, its hum a low, steady purr beneath us. The leather seat was cool against my back, though warmth still pulsed through me from the applause, from the tower that bore my name, from the weight of the ring on my finger.I leaned my head against the glass, the city lights blurring past in streaks of gold and silver. My chest ached with too many emotions to name: joy, disbelief, gratitude, love.I turned to Michael, my voice hushed. “Thank you.”He looked at me, one brow lifting slightly as if I had said something foolish. “Thank me? For what, my queen?”“For everything,” I whispered. My throat thickened. “For believing in me. For today. For showing me a side of you I never thought I’d see.”His amber eyes softened, a flicker of tenderness melting through the usual steel. “You should know by now, every side of me belongs to you.”The words pierced straight into me. I let out a shaky laugh, shaking my head. “I’m glad I stayed, Mi

ALESSA’S POVThe skyscraper loomed before me, a monument of glass and steel piercing the heavens, my name blazing across its crown in bold, golden light. The Harter Collection. My brand. My legacy. My dream that had once lived only as a whisper in my heart, now standing tall enough to kiss the sky.And yet, as I stood there clutching Michael’s hand, trembling, I felt so impossibly small. The ring glittered on my finger, its weight still new, anchoring me to this reality that felt too vast to belong to me. The proposal, the kiss, the promise, it all swirled inside me like a storm of light, I had fallen in love with this man all over again. And now this tower, my tower rose in front of me, daring me to step inside and claim what I never thought I could.Michael’s thumb brushed my knuckles, steady, grounding, coaxing me to breathe. His eyes softened as he leaned closer, whispering, “It’s time, my queen.”His queen. His words struck me again, fierce and gentle, burning through my chest.

ALESSA'S POV When Michael slipped the ring onto my finger, the world did not just change. It exploded into light, into something too vast and too dazzling to belong to reality. The word yes had barely left my lips before my body began trembling, laughter and tears spilling over me in unstoppable waves. I clung to him as though letting go might cause it all to vanish, burying my face against his chest, breathing in the solid warmth of him, the clean scent of his suit, the steadiness that had always been him.My heartbeat thundered against his, wild and unsteady, yet perfectly at home, as though it had always belonged there.Perhaps that love I had carried for him back in our high school days had never truly died. Perhaps I had only buried it, trying to disguise it with denial, convincing myself it was just a memory. Yet here it was, blooming so fiercely that I could no longer contain it.Michael pressed a kiss to the top of my head, whispering words I barely caught, words that poured
