Logan and Lucas. The names of my beautiful boys, under a tradition my family has kept through generations. Claire doesn’t know how happy that made me. The fact that she even considered my feelings about their names and my traditions - even after the situation I’ve gotten us into.

I roll over to see it is five in the morning on my phone. The doctor should be here in two hours and soon after, Julia will be arriving to assist us in our pursuit to confuse Charlotte and remove her aggression towards Claire. I try to gently wake Claire as to not startle her.

“The doctor should be arriving in two hours, Claire. Would you like to shower and get dressed?” I ask quietly as she stirs.

“Okay, but I can’t get up. I need a little help.” She says groggily.

“Okay. Don’t move, I’m coming.” I get up and walk over to her side of the bed, holding my arms out for her to adjust into as I gently roll her towards me and help her up. She grunts in discomfort. “Is that okay?”

“Yes. It’s just a little hard to m

I’m just finishing the documents and shaking hands with the team at the closing table when I get a video from Mason and a text.‘Class was going well. There was a mouse situation but all is well. Your wife is a natural.” I tap on the video and watch my heavily pregnant wife properly disassemble a 9mm Taurus pistol and check the barrel before cleaning and greasing the gun properly. She then reassembles it with ease. She truly was a natural at this. I smile as I watch the video. I then get a call from my moving company.“Hello?”“Hi Mr. Leonardo, we’re at your current residence and would like to confirm the new address before heading that way.” I confirm the address with them and instruct them to furnish the home as well as unpack. They agree without hesitation and I hang up. I couldn’t afford for anything to go wrong. I wanted my wife home and I couldn’t settle for less. After the closing teams dispersed, I send a text for Arthur to pick up Elena and bring her to the new residence and

We sit in the car for a few minutes to make sure Claire does have another false contraction before heading inside. I give Claire an arm in case she doubles over and motion for Tony to bring her to the room. He escorts Claire immediately and I hear their conversation of pregnancies dwindle into a whisper as they make it down the hall. I wait until I hear the door to the room shut to call Leo.“Pick up. Pick up.” I pace as I wait for a response.“Hey man, can this wait? I’m at the closing table.” “No! Claire says she’s having Braxton Hicks. How do I know if they’re real contractions?! Or-or when I need to take her to the hospital?” I was panicked. My mother never went into detail on this part of pregnancy and right now, I really wish she had.“How many has she had?” Why does he sound calm?“One.”“Was there any sign of bleeding?”“No.”“Did her water break?” “No.”“Then she’s not in labor. The doctor said there would be repetitive contractions that would get closer together as the tim

After a long night of coming to terms with my new life and all its changes, I fell asleep with ease. Sleep was becoming a rarity at this stage in my pregnancy so any chance was more than enough reason to do so. I was surprised when I had awoken to the soften pitter-pattering of rain on the windows. It was gloomy outside but clock said it was already ten o’clock. That means I had slept for more than eight hours without stirring once. It was not only unusual but incredibly necessary.I gently rock myself until I’m able to sit up and get out of bed. I struggle to complete my morning routine as my belly felt even more heavy today and head to the kitchen where I find Nathan is already enjoying a bowl of cereal.“Mind if I join you?” I say as I serve myself a giant bowl as well.“Don’t you mean ‘we’?” He mocks as I sit down. “I’m just picking at you. How are you feeling?” “I’m feeling a bit sore. This belly is one heavy load. But I should be giving birth any day now.”“Are you ready?”“I m

I assist Claire out of the shower breathlessly as she hugs me, melting her body into mine. I loved watching her convulse in pleasure and beg for me. It showed me exactly what I wanted to see in her. She knew just as well as I did that only I could ever make her feel this way and that I intended to for the rest of my days. I hand her a towel and assist her in getting dressed before leaving for the night.“You sure you don’t want to be tucked in?” I ask with a wink.“No, I’ll be fine.” She smiles with a soft laugh.“I can be very persuasive.” I mention as I lean down and kiss her neck. She seems to melt at my touch but leads my face back to hers. We kiss for a moment until she withdraws. “I’ll see you tomorrow after my gun safety course with Mason and Tony?”“I might be a little late. I have to sign the closing documents for the house but afterwards, I’m all yours.” “Okay, maybe I’ll spend some time with Jas while you’re busy. I haven’t had a minute since the surgery and her new datin

I was surprised to have enjoyed dinner with Leo’s mother as much as I did. I had lost everything these past few months and having gained the boys and a sense of family made it all the while worth it - oddly enough.“That went better than even I anticipated. How are you feeling now?” Leo says as he drives us back to Jasmine’s place.“I feel relieved. I spent so long feeling like an outsider and intruder as your wife when it came to your family. They always made Charlotte feel welcome whereas I’d sit in the back and watched them praise her while everyone judged and scrutinized me. I never thought any of them would accept me - especially not your mother.” I feel embarrassed to even say it aloud.“Will you be allowing her to be around the boys? I know it hasn’t been pleasant and I also play a role in that but things are different now.” He was trying to convince me without forcing me to come to terms with his ideas.“I think it’s only fair that she gets to see her grandchildren. I can’t pu

After a Power Nap, I continue formulating my escape. I had found several escape routes that lead to other wings of this facility but I had yet to find the one I needed - the one leading to one of the many restricted exits. It seems that each exit was confidently designed without linkage to any ventilation. I kept coming up short ended with ever growing frustration. I look over every escape route that I’d previously written down and decide to look over those routes again. To my surprise, I had missed a few routes that had shorter distances between their ends and the exits I had monitored. There were two that landed directly in the next room over from the exit doors. All I had to do was look at the interior photos from google and mark for cameras. This would allow me to choose the optimal route for my escape and this made me more than excited. After what felt like hours of research and an impossible reach, I finally found an optimal escape route. The ventilation from the common room l

It’s almost midnight when I receive a message from my attorney. I had appointed him in discussing the parental rights’ of Celeste’s son with myself. I had offered to take fifty percent of the parental rights’ and raise him as my own, so long as documents were drafted to support this arrangement. I open the message and read it carefully.‘Hello Nathan, as requested - I communicated with Celeste’s attorney concerning the division of parental rights’ equally between her and yourself for her son. Unfortunately, Celeste feels that your interest in having said rights’ is to directly inflict harm upon her as his mother. She wishes to revoke the idea of sharing those rights’ and allow you to father the child while signing a document agreeing to never assert any rights’ legally but allowing you to sign the birth certificate. As your legal aid and advisor, I highly recommend against this action as it seems to be a direct ploy to your assets. I am fairly certain of this being an unfavorable out

“How are you feeling?” I hear Leo ask as I look for something to wear to dinner with his mother tonight.“I feel good right now. I learned a lot about gun safety.” I keep it short because my nerves were high with seeing his mother again. The last time I had seen her was on my fifth wedding anniversary when Emilia and her insulted me and chose Charlotte. That was the day my marriage came to a close or so I had thought. Her treatment over the years has scarred me and made me feel rejected and unworthy so I didn’t know what to expect from this meeting.“I think that dress is beautiful.” Leo says as I grab a viridian dress from my closet. I changed and began doing my hair to distract myself from what I felt.“How’s your hand?” Leo asks as he sees me utilizing it softly.“It’s good. I can move it but it’s very sore. I’ve been practicing on blueprints little by little over the last few weeks and I hadn’t seen any positive difference until yesterday. The lines are easier to make with the lit

I stayed behind at Jasmine’s to wait for Claire. Mason said the course would take about two hours so I thought I’d work on the dinner arrangements and wait here rather than come back later. Jasmine went for a nap so I sat in the living room, watching the news patiently.“Hey man, didn’t know you were here.” I hear Nathan say as he enters the living room and sits down.“Just waiting for Claire to get back. How are you?”“I’m good. Thanks for asking. How’s everything going with the new house?” He asks as he settles in the recliner next to me.“Should be ready by the beginning of next week.” “That’s great. How is Claire feeling about it?” He knew something I didn’t.“She’s excited.” I lie. “Okay, I know I’m not your favorite person but I have something to tell you. When Claire went to her room last night, I went to check on her and she was crying. She said she wants normalcy and she’s scared. She doesn’t feel like she’s ever going to be safe.” I listen to Nathan with wide eyes and he re
