John Pov.

The words came out unfiltered, why would I just dim it fit to run a paternit

y test on a child I knocked down.

I have no reasons to back up my actions but if for anything I wanted to clear my conscience and know I won't be full of regrets by the time his parents arrive.

The doctor in charge was my family daughter but we had to act as strangers in front of the teacher, just to be on safe ground.

“Will get right to it”. The doctor responded leaving me in his office.

I stayed in the office, looked through my phone, the only notification that popped up was the office analysis.

I tucked my phone in, staring at the empty desk, my thoughts scattered.

Who was this kid?

How come he looks so much like me?

It's no mere coincidence that our blood matches, there was more.

“He had every one of my looks, like I molded him myself”

I haven't had anything to do with a woman in three years.

My last fling was with the runaway bride, and she never called that she was pregnant for or go so far as to have a child for me.

I didn't even drop my contact, or anything just some stack of dollar notes. I hit my head in regret.

I wasn't going to just assume things, the paternity test would prove if I was in any way related to that child.

It would, definitely.

I stayed in the office for a while then the teacher walked in.

“I'm sorry, how is he?”

“I wasn't allowed inside the ward

“He’s stable now”

“I'm so sorry….i didn't mean for any of these to happen”. She apologized.

“It's okay, kids are unpredictable”. I responded smiling.

“We didn't start off on a good note, I'm John Mcqueen”. I extended my hand for a shake but she was beyond shock.

“No way”

“No damn way”

“It can't be you”. The teacher said her face lit with excitement.

“You…..yes I was certain it was you”. She said clapping her hands.

“I'm sorry, have we met?”. I asked surprised by her outburst a mixture of excitement and tears.

She shamed her head in disapproval acting dumb, I get this alot so I wasn't quite taken off guard.

“You're the CEO of Vanguard weaponry……. I have never thought I would ever be in the room with someone as influential as you”. She said giggling.

“The pleasure is mine”. I responded beginning to feel uncomfortable.

The teacher ran off again, I guess it either to check the child in the ward or to tell the parent who I was.

It had been over two hours since we got to the hospital yet none of his parent or guardians showed up.

The doctor walked in after a few minutes holding the results and pushing them over the table.

“Just tell me, there's no need to be formal”. I responded opening it up.

“Man, it is right in front of you”. He chuckled.

I went through its content and I was shocked to my bones.

“This can't be”. I disagreed.

“They ran the rest twice for clarity”. The doctor added.

“How’s this even possible”. I ran my hand through my hair.

“You never told me you had a son”

“I’m as surpass you “. I held unto the result, my hand shaking.

The doctor excused himself to attend to his patient while I sat there, transfixed.

That boy wasn't a random kid.

Our blood matching wasn't a coincidence

That child is mine, my son, my blood.

I rushed to the ward the test result still in my hand, he was still fast asleep.

I pat his legs slowly, I had a kid and I wasn't even aware, but how?.

The teacher walked in and I quietly composed myself, I wouldn't want words spilling till I got to the root of this chaos.

“Why is his mum or dad not here”. I inquired from the teacher, and for some reason, she now felt comfortable with me.

“His mom is on the way, the school called her the moment the unfortunate incident took place “. She explained.

“Oh”

“And his dad?”. I asked further.

“I can't really say, his mom is the only one who brings him to the nursery”. She responded promptly.

“Alright”.

I turned back to face the child who was still fast asleep, the teacher unknown to her had spilled enough to take me further.

I would wait patiently for his mother's arrival. The nurses came to check his temperature and the trip, instructing the teacher to get him food before he woke up, She was about to run off when I stopped her.

“You stay and watch him, I will get it”

“Oh sir, you don't have to”

“I insist, it's the least I should do”

“You are so kind, sir”

“Thank you so much sir, bless your soul”. The teacher kept on raining praises till I stepped out of the ward.

I hurried to the eatery close to the hospital to get food for him.

“What would you like sir?” The attendant asked.

“Your best treat for kids”. I responded Bring out my card.

“Noted sir”.

I pointed to almost everything on the menu like the children in the nursery were hungry strike.

The moment I swapped my card for payment and my name reflected, the sale girls face light up.

“Mr John Mcwueen”. She covered her mouth, I pulled some few cash out of my inner

pocject as a tip signaling her to keep shut.

I was hardly in the public space, I have had enough drama for the year in just few hours.

I carried two full bags filled with different food and headed back to the hospital with the hope the mother would have arrived.

I got into the hospital and headed straight back to the child’s ward.

The moment I got in, I saw a woman sitting close to the kid, weeping profusely rubbing his face.

From the back, the figures look familiar.

I dropped the food on the shelf, she turned to face me, and I felt my heart stop racing.

“Isabella?”.

John Pov.After a long hectic day at the office, designing and creating new designs for a new investor. Iwas finally home. I sat on the three cushion chair, eyes glued to the television, the reporterraised a pool about child support from both parties inviting guests to my favourite show"Fuck raw, equals child support".As the reporter kept on interviewing the guest, my thoughts diverted slowly to the strangewoman at the office" Isabella".Earlier today I had insisted on buying her lunch, my heart skipping whenever our eyes met.She agreed to have lunch with me but throughout the lunch break.I couldn't take my eyes off her. She's damn beautiful, but something about her felt strange. She had this same aura the runaway bride had, every one of her moves, the way she talked, how she looked at me, her smile. It all reminds me of Anabella, the woman from the one-night stand. This was torture at thehighest level."I'm sorry to pry into your personal life, but are you married

  • The Billionaire Legacy    Chapter 15: What If?

Isabella’s POV“Mama… who’s my daddy?”I blinked. The cartoon on the TV kept playing in the background, but my mind blanked out completely. The bowl of cereal in my hand trembled slightly, milk rippling with the sudden jolt in my heart. I turned slowly to look at Peter—my Peter—his small fingers clutched around a half-eaten cookie, his eyes innocent… curious… completely unaware of the depth of the bomb he’d just dropped.I managed a breath. “Why do you ask, baby?”He tilted his head. “Kayla said her daddy calls her and buys her cake. I want cake too.”I laughed softly, trying to sound unaffected, ruffling his curly hair as he grinned up at me. “I’ll buy you cake. Double chocolate. You don’t need a daddy for that.”He beamed, satisfied, and ran off to chase after his toys. But I stayed still. Frozen in place, the spoon still in my hand. My mind was no longer in the living room—it had taken a deep dive into memories I’d locked away long ago. Memories of mascara-streaked tears, cold cham

  • The Billionaire Legacy    Chapter 14: Unraveling Ties

John's POVThe days after Isabella's brief appearance in the conference room felt like a blur. One afternoon, Marcus nudged me. “You’ve been weird since she got here, man. You know her or something?”I forced a laugh. “No. Just... something about her throws me off.”He arched a brow. “You sure? She seemed like she recognized you too.” I didn't reply.“You good?” Marcus asked, leaning against my office door.I looked up too fast. “Yeah. Why?”“You spaced out twice during the morning meeting.”I forced a shrug. “Didn’t sleep well.”Which was true, but not the whole truth.Every time I closed my eyes, I saw her. Or worse—felt something I couldn’t explain. Like I’d lost something I didn’t know I had.As I left the conference room that day, I wasn’t really paying attention to where I was going, absorbed in my thoughts. And then, just as I rounded the corner, I nearly bumped into her. Isabella. We both froze. She blinked, briefly meeting my gaze before quickly looking away, as though she
