Aria’s belly had grown so large that during her last checkup, Amos suggested she be admitted early for observation until delivery.

“Admit me now? Isn’t it a little too early?” Aria frowned slightly, mentally counting—there was still over a month before her due date.

“Since Amos recommended it, you’d better listen.” Kane ruffled her hair, then gave her stomach a sidelong glance, his brow furrowing. “Aria, don’t you think your belly is unusually big?”

They had just stepped out of Amos’s office and were now standing in the hospital hallway, where several expectant mothers were waddling past with prominent bumps.

Following Kane’s gaze, Aria looked around and quickly realized her belly really was much larger than the others.

“Oh… you’re right. It is pretty big!” She rubbed her stomach awkwardly, then chuckled. “Maybe it’s too much amniotic fluid?”
