Frank was still admiring the winter wonderland Kane had created and was about to thank him when he noticed Kane's expression suddenly darken as he answered a call.

When Kane hung up, his tone was clipped. "Frank, something urgent just came up. I can't see you out."

Cliff slept for two full days before finally waking up.When he opened his eyes, a nurse was swapping out his IV.Seeing him stir, she smiled. "Well, look who's finally awake!""W–where... where am I?" Cliff's throat was so dry his voice came out rough and cracked."You're in the hospital. Our director brought you in," the nurse said, giving his shoulder a light pat. "Hang tight, I'll go get the doctor."Director? Frank! The realization jolted Cliff upright in panic. "No—wait! I need to see your director!"The nurse hesitated, then nodded. "Alright, stay put."She hurried out of the room.Cliff lay back against the pillows, every inch of his body aching. Even breathing felt like work.Fragments of memory flashed through his mind, and his chest tightened when he thought of Mona. Fear gnawed at him, sharp and relentless. Before long, he heard footsteps. Strolling slowly down a side street behind the main building, Frank noticed the changes around him. But his thoughts wandered elsewhere—he wondered if Mona would even recognize the place when she came back.He admitted it to himself: he was obsessed. Mona lived in his head constantly, intruding into his thoughts no matter the time or place.Even in the operating room, he'd find her face flashing through his mind without warning. For the sake of his patients, Frank had stopped performing surgeries altogether. The risk was too high. If his mind drifted to Mona mid-procedure, who knew what mistake he might make? • The Billionaire Regret After My Goodbye   He Really Was Naïve

"What couldn't wait until you came back?" Kane snapped, his brows knitting tight. "Why does everyone insist on making decisions on their own? Do we men even matter anymore?"He had made it clear to Aria that he would handle everything if she could just be patient a little longer. But instead of waiting, she faked her own death and disappeared without a single word, leaving him with nothing but silence.Seeing Kane's rising temper, Frank gave a helpless smile. "If it's about Aria, you'd better ask Caleb. He probably knows more than anyone else."Caleb's feelings for Aria were obvious to anyone with eyes."You think I haven't tried?" Kane's frown deepened. "I questioned him, pressured him, even sent people to follow him. No luck. He swears he doesn't know where she is, and I can't find a shred of proof otherwise. What else can I do?"The first person Kane suspected after Aria's disappearance was Caleb. But Caleb denied everything, and no evidence ever surfaced. Kane had no choice but to

Is that you?" she called through the bedroom door."Yeah," his voice answered from the entryway.Relieved, Mona hurried out, the dress forgotten. "The herbalist I told you about is back in town. I already bought a batch of herbs and shipped them out. Make sure Brian picks them up from the county office when they arrive."But as soon as she stepped into the hall and saw Cliff, her breath caught. He looked a mess—clothes smeared with mud, small cuts scattered across his face, eyes bloodshot and weary."Cliff, what happened to you?" Mona grabbed the first aid kit, ready to clean and disinfect his scrapes. He waved her off. "I heard a few rare herbs might be deep in the mountains near the next town, so I went searching.
