The air smelt of dust and rain. The clouds above were dense with moisture and lightning flashed in the sky now and then.
People rushed up and down the busy streets, trying to find ways to get themselves into the comfort of their homes before the rains poured down. In one corner of the road, Amanda stood with numerous bags and cartons. Her mother squatted by a corner, close to a shop wrapped up in a duvet, shielding herself from the shivering cold that came with the winds.
"We have to get a place to pass the night momma", Amanda dished out with frustration written all over her face.
"I thought you had plans already"? Her mother asked with her eyes widened with shock. "Didn't you make headway with Wolf today"?
Amanda turned to her mother and shook her head grudgingly. Tears gathered in her eyes as she tried to get their bags under a store shed, hoping to shield them from the drizzles gradually coming down.
"Amanda, didn't Wolf do anything about his promise"? Her mother persisted.
Amanda tried to shrug off her mother's questions but it was paramount that she answered.
"No Momma_______he did nothing about the rent; instead, he took from me the little I gathered ". Her voice shook with anger and she struggled to make out her words.
Estella(her mother) rained curses on Wolf, speaking vehemently.
"Take it easy mum_____ you know your health issues are getting worse. Just calm down ".
"Look at what you are going through, child______It weakens me, Amanda." A lump rose in her throat and she swallowed hard, sniffing so hard to force back the tears that gathered in her eyes.
Amanda lifted the last set of bags and set them next to the others, then she sat on the curb, next to her mother. She snuggled up to her now sobbing mother and put her arms around her.
"It's okay momma. I know we will eventually be fine. I ain't complaining. Or am I"? She tried to force a smile on her face, to make her mother relieved.
Estella let out a sigh of relief and whispered: "you're doing way more than you should be doing. I wish Wolf's case could be dealt with once and for all. I wish he'd die or be caught by the law. He is human. Why does he act like a god"? Anger swelled up in her belly. She was very devastated by the conditions Wolf was putting her daughter through.
Amanda looked away for a few minutes and her eyes caught a signpost that showed a motel was around the street bend.
"Let it go mum. I have it figured out. You are my priority and I will see that I do all I can to give you the life you deserve, momma".
Estella hugged her tightly and Amanda planted a kiss on her forehead.
"Come on ma_____ I have an idea about where we could spend a few nights till I come up with a more permanent solution".
"Where is that"?
"Over there ", she replied, pointing towards the signpost.
Estella looks ahead and her eyes catch a glimpse of the message on the post and she shakes her head slightly in disapproval.
"A motel is not a good place to be, Mandy", she muttered.
"We do not have a lot of choices, Mother. It is just for a few nights till I figure out what we could do about this whole situation ".
Estella put her head down in between her arms and lamented.
"Mum______mummy"!You have to snap out of that mood. We are going to be alright. I'd just have to flag down a taxi that would get us there before this rain comes down heavy upon us and our pieces of luggage".
She gently pulled up her mum from the curb and nudged her towards the road lane where they could be seen by a taxi.
A cab pulled up in front of them and a young man highlighted from it and paid the cab man with so many notes. The cab man yelled out to him and kept thanking him.
The man walked briskly past Amanda and her mother but not before Amanda caught a view of his face. Her head rang with recognition of the man; he was the same guy who had embarrassed her that night, a week ago.
She stood, lost in thoughts as she recalled the events of that night. Then another thought struck her, he was her next assignment; as designated by Wolf.
She had to catch up with him and know where he was headed before proceeding to lodge her mother into the motel.
She was so engaged in her thoughts that she didn't hear her mother calling out to her, asking her how much she would be willing to pay the cab driver.
A loud yelling of her name jolted her awake.
"Where did your mind travel to"?Estella asked with a quizzical look.
"I am sorry Momma. I was putting some thoughts together".
"Hmmm________you are getting me very worried sick. I do not want to lose you too, Amanda".
Amanda got closer to the cab man, "has she told you how close we are to our destination"?
He gestured towards the signpost and nodded.
"So, how much?"
"Twenty bucks," he said without hesitation "I am doing it for the culture", he added with a smile.
Amanda helped her mother get seated in the back seat before gathering their backs and piling them up in the trunk.
As they drove the short distance to the motel, Amanda wondered where her experiment disappeared to. She hoped to bump into him again before it became too late for her.

"Good evening Sir. You're welcome to the Aston Martin Villa".
Brent scanned the receptionist from head to toe and concluded that she looked slightly attractive.
"How may we be of help, sir"? She asked slightly embarrassed by his gaze.
"I am here to see Whitney", he answered nonchalantly.
"O___kay" the receptionist stuttered while fixing her gaze on the computer In Front of her. "Whitney _______who, please?"
"Brighton"? He replied with a bit of confusion, hoping he was right.
"Yes______ I have Whitney Brighton here. That would be room 213. The second-floor sir".
"Thank you" Brent muttered and walked down the hallway.
"Enjoy the rest of your evening sir" she chuckled behind him.
Brent got to the door and tapped gently on it. Whitney's voice came from inside, beckoning for him to come in.
He walked in and found her lying in bed cuddled in her pillows.
"You invited me over for a talk, and you are still in bed"?
She sat up and stretched out, yawning as well. Her hair was let down and her silky nightwear did little job of covering her body frame. Her nipples stood out in the nightwear. Her full lips caught his gaze.
She stared at him quizzically "Do you like what you see"?
Brent put his eyes down and looked away and with the most condescending voice he said:
"Get dressed Miss. I don't mix business with pleasure".
Love is the sound that breaks all silence. Love is the medicine that heals all wounds. Love is the force that brings all barriers down. Love is me.... Love is you. I hope you enjoy this romantic tale of a contractual union that eventually found love. Have fun reading
THIRD PERSON POV The clouds were dense and lightning kept flashing across the skylines. Amanda was shivering in the car as they drove back to the hotel where she was reportedly lodged. She did not want him to know that she was lodged in the same hotel where they just met, because it would seem as though she has been trailing him. So she lied about it.They were surrounded by an awkward silence, except for the breeze coming through the windows and the sound of the moving vehicle. Brent was exhausted and she was calm. They did not say much to each other. When they approached the hotel she claimed she was staying, Brent pulled up in fron of it."Can I have you phone contact?" He asked sluggishly. She took his phone and inputed her number and then she dialed herself before returning the phone to him."Do you need anything?" he asked casually. She needed money to jump into a taxi and go right back to her actual hotel but her pride would not let her so she shook her head and said " no, I
BRENT POV"Assistant Director?" I asked with my mouth agape. This woman was beginning to get on my nerves, truly. She was getting ahead of herself and I was becoming impatient. Her ego was sticking out on me like a sore thumb and it was sweeping off my patience because I was also full of ego and arrogance. Yet, I had to time down my anger."Don't you think you sound ridiculous to asking to be my Assistant Director?" I asked calmly, trying my best to maintain some level of sanity."Ridiculous? How, Mr. Brent? Am I not supposed to be your wife?" She asked with a smile that seemed to mock me. "If we have to play the act, they we should play our part well. This would make it even more convincing; the way I see it."On one hand, she was talking gibberish but on another, she had some valid points. However, I was not willing to take such a risk with a woman whose background was unknown to me."Miss Amanda, I understand that you are doing this for my interest but I cannot take such a risk. I
AMANDA (POV)Take it or leave it, the man was either crazy or plain stupid because once again, he played into my hands and I could not believe it."Marry me Amanda; I want to make you my wife."His eagerness, his pleas and the fervency of his request got me asking what he was rushing for. It was not as though I was not happy that he was asking, after all this was what Wolf sent me to achieve but the urgency was my fear."Of all the ladies that meet your class, your kind, the presentable socialite women on their high horses, why did it have to be me, Brent Kenilworth?"He was silent. He said absolutely nothing, totally ignoring my mockery of his speech. I wanted to be his nightmare, mocking him but I ended up being the mocked because he totally ignored my statement and moved on with his proposal."As my wife, you will get exotic vacations, beautiful dresses and jewelries and most of all, a monthly allowance of at least $20 000. How does that sound?"His arrogance almost peeled my skin
Pov: AMANDAWe sat by the same spot I had just been with Jake. Brent was different; calm and stern while Jake was jovial and lovable.I could also see pain in Brent's eyes but all those were not my concern. I could not bother myself with any of those details. I only needed to get my future arranged by playing my act of seduction properly till he gave in and began to desire marriage."How are you doing, Amanda"? He asked nonchalantly."I am fine, Mr Brent. Did not expect you to be here".I lied. I was here because I knew he would be here, I was here to play my cards."Same here"... He groaned, almost avoiding my eyes.He ordered drinks for us and we tried to rise past our last experience to make small conversations."Do you have anywhere you ought to be, cos I don't plan on letting you go, just yet".I smiled from the corners of my lips. Something about him was attractive, I could not figure that out yet."Nowhere yet", I gawked at him, "but you must remember I am quite pricey"."We ar
CHAPTER 16BRENTMy first night with her ended miserably; with her barging out of my house after cursing me out with foul language yet somehow, her petite image lived rent free in my head. From my little corner in the club, I could see her seated with a man whom she seemed like she was warming up to. Her slim figure was accentuated in the dress. Her lips glowed with her red lip gloss. Her shimmery dress resonated with the club lights. Her skin glow was too powerful.I struggled hard with my retentive ability to recall her name but my brain seemed squashed and dull. I stared at her beautiful frame and tried to make mind comparisons between her and Whitney.Whitney was largely blushed and chubby. Her rounded hips were my attraction and she is very brilliant too. Talking with her was also quite easy. But this lady… she is phenomenal.I absolutely fell for her the first time. The only thing was her belly bore a similarity with my dead fiancé's belly, hairy belly with a slightly folded nav
CHAPTER FIFTEEN"Mr Kenilworth I would suggest we slow down on the rate of Chemotherapy you are getting", the Doctor Wilson stated.Bradley's face dropped into a depression caused by the doctor's advice."Why is that, Doc"? He asked with pain in his eyes.Doctor Wilson let out his breath then said "because, at this point, it is becoming increasingly difficult for your body to handle the effects of the mechanical procedure. My thoughts on this would be that we just keep you alive for as long as your cells can go".Bradley's face looked colour washed, he was sad."Well, whatever decision you take regarding my health, right now, is good enough for me"."We would have to inform your family, then… at least, your wife_____""Not my wife, Doc; I cannot bear losing her to depression. She is only tough on the outside"."Hmm_____I see. Your son then. Someone is gonna have to sign some papers exempting us from the situation and showing that we had a mutual agreement".Bradley nodded. Reaching Br
