The rain was pouring heavily, thunder and lightning accompanying it. Stan wanted to stay back at the company and do some work but feeling uncomfortable with the heavy downpour and the heavy storm, he decided to leave.
As he descended the elevator, the President’s parking lot was quite different from everyone else. He took a strode towards the parking lot when he suddenly halted. At the extreme end of the entrance, where trash bins are emptied to be taken away by the sanitation department, two securities were talking in hushed voices. They sighted the President and quickly returned to their duty post. Stan, feeling something was a little off, instructed his bodyguard “find out what's wrong” he ordered and got into his car. He'd hardly sat down when the bodyguard hurried “A baby was dumped in the trash bin..” he informed. Stan snapped his head up and glared at his bodyguard in dismay. “A baby?” He asked again for affirmation. He hurried out of his car and went to the baby. In a Perforated transparent bag was a weak baby crying. He'd become weak and could hardly cry out loud. His complexion has gone reddened and he looked sickly and premature. Stan has never felt moved in his entire life like he felt at that moment. He felt pity for the baby and carefully he bent over and carried him with a shaking hands and tender gaze. He was afraid of hurting the baby but then, the transparent bag was causing harm than good. The rain still pouring heavily but Stan didn't care. He could only care about the innocent baby at the moment and not the rain. Was this baby born by a woman or did he grow out of the soil? How could someone do this to her child, an innocent baby who has done his bitch mother nothing! He carried the baby, bring him out of the bag, the baby's thin clothes could barely protect him from cold as Stan pulled off his suit and wrapped it around the baby. Hurriedly, he got into the car, taking the baby to the hospital. FIVE YEARS LATER Sophia got off the plane, waited for her luggage before walking out of the airport. No one knows about her return except her friend Gabriel and her grandfather. After she left five years ago, she got her masters and was doing well in her career until grandfather coaxed her that she should return to her home country. To please grandfather, she saw an advert and applied for a chief designer position in a multi million company in Hilltown. She got the job offer with a lot of benefits attached. Dressed in a limited edition designer gown, she wore a dark shade and her hair curly and styled. She was expecting Gabriel and just before stepping out of the airport, she heard her name. “Sophia Shawn” she turned and there stood Gabriel, staring at her with a megawatt smile. They hugged each other. Happy and excited that they meet again after a few years. “How're you doing Sophia?” Gabriel asked. He doesn't need to ask because he could tell that his friend isn't doing bad for herself. She looked stunning and prettier than he could ever remember her to be. “I'm fine. How're you doing too, Gabriel?” She asked, staring at him with a beautiful smile that exposes her diastema. “I'm good” he replied and took her luggage, leading her to his car. They chatted and were excited. “Take me to the Chevron hotel where Diana and Kabir are getting married,” Sophia demanded. She's not holding a grudge against her ex-fiance nor against her scheming sister. She'd moved on. She's built a lemonade from the lemon they threw at her. She's strong and have learnt to find happiness in herself alone. Gabriel glanced at her briefly before asking “Are you really sure you want to attend that wedding?” He demanded and before she could answer he added “Your sister is getting married to Kabir” For God's sake, only a few people do not know the kind of bond that existed between Sophia and Kabir. But how he easily discarded herband got hooked up with her sister was least expected. “Yeah, I know,” Sophia answered flippantly, glancing out of the window. They could get married over and over again, it doesn't really matter to her anymore. As she glanced at the busy city, people using the pedestrian and everyone got busy going to and from, she smiled. Nothing has really changed. Everything has only remained the way it was from five years ago except her. She'd changed. She'd seen life and embraced it. To live only for herself, to do only what makes her happy and pleased. That way, Sophia headed to Chevron hotel. She stepped in just as the bride was stepping out of the car. Sophia didn't see her at first but Diana did. She froze. The long lost bitch is still alive? For five years everyone thought she's either dead or gone in a self imposed exile because no one knew her whereabouts. Her disappearance has only helped her and Kabir to get closer. Now, that she's to be married, she appeared from nowhere to ruin her wedding? Kabir must not see her otherwise, she cannot guarantee that he would go ahead with the wedding, because she knows , that somewhere in his heart, he still cared about Sophia. What will she do now? As Sophia walked towards the door, she pulled her wedding dress up and rushed towards her. That was when her parents got sight of her and were dazed. “Sophia?” Her father exclaimed. But Beny Shawn sneered. Why did she come back? Sophia is jinxed. What has she come to do at the wedding, after having gone missing for five years? “Please, don't ruin my wedding Sophia. Kabir chose me over you when he discovered your flirty private life. This isn't my fault, don't carry out your threats…” Diana pleaded, clasping her hands together. Threats? Like drama, Sophia just glared at her speechless. Five years have passed and they've grown older. Shouldn't Diana have outgrown her scheming nature? As her parents came closer, Diana pulled Sophia's hand against her chest and fell into her chief bridesmaid hands. “Ahhh, Sophia, please don't do this, don't ruin my wedding…” Diana was still acting when Beny Shawn stepped over and slapped Sophia across the face. “How dare you hit her? How dare you use your promiscuous hand to touch her wedding dress? Who invited you here, what do you want?” She bellowed. At this moment, a few invited guests had started walking towards them. Without thinking twice, Beny Shawn instructed one of her bodyguards “keep her away from this wedding” That way, Sophia was dragged by her parents' bodyguard towards the dark area of the hotel. She tried to fight back but she couldn't. He kept pulling her, dragging her despite her pleas to let her walk because her ankle had been sprained but the bodyguard wouldn't listen to her. How would he listen to this woman who has only brought shame and disgrace to her parents. It was better that she was never brought home. They should have left her in the countryside and rot away in poverty. Sophia felt pains at her ankle due to the heels she was putting on. She was struggling but how strong can she contend with this iron fisted bodyguard of her parents. Eventually they arrived at a door and the bodyguard pushed the door open and shoved her in violently before bolting the door and going away.Stan chuckled and said “I'm sorry” and kissed her temple before pulling off his blazer. He soon stepped into the bathroom and Sophia went downstairs. She was actually waiting for him to have dinner together. Amil had eaten his dinner and gone off with his nanny. She sat at the dinning and waited for Stan. In the meantime, she decided to log into her social media account. She was amazed how her fan base had grown. Even Wayne Lisa has become a fan of hers. She was impressed. This woman is supporting her in every way possible. How can she be so fortunate to be loved by Wayne Lisa this way. Now, her status has increased in the industry and she's to participate in two more movies before the year ends. How could she have known that coming to Hilltown city meant becoming an actress? It's her son Amil that brought her such good fortune. She's impressed and gives her son a special gift to that effect. She heard footsteps approaching and she raised her head to see Stan w
Diana froze. How did he know about the jewelleries? Was he searching through her stuff? “I needed money to invest in a certain business and decided to sell off the jewelleries. Once everything is back to normal, I'll get another one in replacement” she explained. Oh goodness. How can she get rich jewelleries back so easily? Maybe one day, she will own her jewelleries again. She was quiet, expecting Kabir to respond to her, but he didn't. He was working on his computer. “I keep seeing senseless attitudes being displayed by you. I don't know why your foster parents could believe you so easily. Why are they acting like uneducated people? As old as they are, how can they let a little girl like you deceive them? First, I don't believe you were attacked. There isn't anything to show to that effect. It doesn't look like it. It's all an act, you put up a show and they were convinced by it. But me, Kabir Jamal, knows you are acting, You're an actress after all. You we
“Stop Sophia!” Stan pushed her away from him. His gaze was cold as he fixed them on Sophia. What does she think, that he'd forgotten about the whole incident of last night? He doesn't have a narrow memory at all. “Stan..” Sophia began but he interrupted her by raising his hand and stopping her. Sophia paused and sighed softly. They both stared at each other and helplessly, Sophia went to sit on the sofa. She's ready to get things straightened out between them. “Who permitted you to sit in my office?” Stan asked in a cold tone. Sophia was shocked, she raised her head and glanced at him, he was towering over her. His expression is unreadable and distant. Gently she stood up and said “If the incident of yesterday still hurts you, I'm sorry. I told Craig about you because I needed to tell him about Amil. I wanted him to know that Amil is his nephew. So I told him about our encounter. But I didn't realise that he doesn't have a mature mind. I was wrong to say

Sophia just stood there watching her. She heard what she said and didn't bulge. What is her business with that? Once in a while, someone has to have a taste of what they made others go through so they can know how it feels. She didn't expect that these old couples could love each other so much. She thought love and heartbreak were experiences of youthfulness and young men and women of the present age. She saw Craig coming over and held Benny. She expected him to be off to his grandma's burial but he also didn't leave, meddling in matters that didn't concern him. She eyed them both and chuckled aloud. “I don't concern myself with couples' lives and marriage. I am not married, thanks to your darling daughter Diana. So I don't know what to say about your marriage. But yes, aunt Mag told me the same thing to step in and salvage Dekunle and Benny's marriage. I have told her I am not interested in it. But she kept tucking me and I agreed to her request. I will go and
She squinted and kept her gaze on it. For the first time in many years, Benny calls her phone? Isn't this a mistake? How could she have made this terrible mistake of calling her instead of Diana. She didn't answer her phone. She wasn't calling her, she was actually calling Diana. Her phone rang two more times but she still didn't answer the phone. She has to be careful. If Benny isn't making a mistake, and she was calling her indeed, it means she might be sending assassins after her. She stood up, went to the bathroom, relieved herself and climbed into the bed again. The news of her award and the premier was all over the place. Then she remembered Stan, and decided to call him. It rang but he didn't answer it. She called for the second time, he didn't answer his phone and by the third time Sophia was going to call, he'd blocked her line. She tried sending a text, it's the same. Her eyes went cloudy instantly. He meant it, it appeared so the previous evening but
