The rain was pouring heavily, thunder and lightning accompanying it. Stan wanted to stay back at the company and do some work but feeling uncomfortable with the heavy downpour and the heavy storm, he decided to leave.
As he descended the elevator, the President’s parking lot was quite different from everyone else. He took a strode towards the parking lot when he suddenly halted. At the extreme end of the entrance, where trash bins are emptied to be taken away by the sanitation department, two securities were talking in hushed voices. They sighted the President and quickly returned to their duty post. Stan, feeling something was a little off, instructed his bodyguard “find out what's wrong” he ordered and got into his car. He'd hardly sat down when the bodyguard hurried “A baby was dumped in the trash bin..” he informed. Stan snapped his head up and glared at his bodyguard in dismay. “A baby?” He asked again for affirmation. He hurried out of his car and went to the baby. In a Perforated transparent bag was a weak baby crying. He'd become weak and could hardly cry out loud. His complexion has gone reddened and he looked sickly and premature. Stan has never felt moved in his entire life like he felt at that moment. He felt pity for the baby and carefully he bent over and carried him with a shaking hands and tender gaze. He was afraid of hurting the baby but then, the transparent bag was causing harm than good. The rain still pouring heavily but Stan didn't care. He could only care about the innocent baby at the moment and not the rain. Was this baby born by a woman or did he grow out of the soil? How could someone do this to her child, an innocent baby who has done his bitch mother nothing! He carried the baby, bring him out of the bag, the baby's thin clothes could barely protect him from cold as Stan pulled off his suit and wrapped it around the baby. Hurriedly, he got into the car, taking the baby to the hospital. FIVE YEARS LATER Sophia got off the plane, waited for her luggage before walking out of the airport. No one knows about her return except her friend Gabriel and her grandfather. After she left five years ago, she got her masters and was doing well in her career until grandfather coaxed her that she should return to her home country. To please grandfather, she saw an advert and applied for a chief designer position in a multi million company in Hilltown. She got the job offer with a lot of benefits attached. Dressed in a limited edition designer gown, she wore a dark shade and her hair curly and styled. She was expecting Gabriel and just before stepping out of the airport, she heard her name. “Sophia Shawn” she turned and there stood Gabriel, staring at her with a megawatt smile. They hugged each other. Happy and excited that they meet again after a few years. “How're you doing Sophia?” Gabriel asked. He doesn't need to ask because he could tell that his friend isn't doing bad for herself. She looked stunning and prettier than he could ever remember her to be. “I'm fine. How're you doing too, Gabriel?” She asked, staring at him with a beautiful smile that exposes her diastema. “I'm good” he replied and took her luggage, leading her to his car. They chatted and were excited. “Take me to the Chevron hotel where Diana and Kabir are getting married,” Sophia demanded. She's not holding a grudge against her ex-fiance nor against her scheming sister. She'd moved on. She's built a lemonade from the lemon they threw at her. She's strong and have learnt to find happiness in herself alone. Gabriel glanced at her briefly before asking “Are you really sure you want to attend that wedding?” He demanded and before she could answer he added “Your sister is getting married to Kabir” For God's sake, only a few people do not know the kind of bond that existed between Sophia and Kabir. But how he easily discarded herband got hooked up with her sister was least expected. “Yeah, I know,” Sophia answered flippantly, glancing out of the window. They could get married over and over again, it doesn't really matter to her anymore. As she glanced at the busy city, people using the pedestrian and everyone got busy going to and from, she smiled. Nothing has really changed. Everything has only remained the way it was from five years ago except her. She'd changed. She'd seen life and embraced it. To live only for herself, to do only what makes her happy and pleased. That way, Sophia headed to Chevron hotel. She stepped in just as the bride was stepping out of the car. Sophia didn't see her at first but Diana did. She froze. The long lost bitch is still alive? For five years everyone thought she's either dead or gone in a self imposed exile because no one knew her whereabouts. Her disappearance has only helped her and Kabir to get closer. Now, that she's to be married, she appeared from nowhere to ruin her wedding? Kabir must not see her otherwise, she cannot guarantee that he would go ahead with the wedding, because she knows , that somewhere in his heart, he still cared about Sophia. What will she do now? As Sophia walked towards the door, she pulled her wedding dress up and rushed towards her. That was when her parents got sight of her and were dazed. “Sophia?” Her father exclaimed. But Beny Shawn sneered. Why did she come back? Sophia is jinxed. What has she come to do at the wedding, after having gone missing for five years? “Please, don't ruin my wedding Sophia. Kabir chose me over you when he discovered your flirty private life. This isn't my fault, don't carry out your threats…” Diana pleaded, clasping her hands together. Threats? Like drama, Sophia just glared at her speechless. Five years have passed and they've grown older. Shouldn't Diana have outgrown her scheming nature? As her parents came closer, Diana pulled Sophia's hand against her chest and fell into her chief bridesmaid hands. “Ahhh, Sophia, please don't do this, don't ruin my wedding…” Diana was still acting when Beny Shawn stepped over and slapped Sophia across the face. “How dare you hit her? How dare you use your promiscuous hand to touch her wedding dress? Who invited you here, what do you want?” She bellowed. At this moment, a few invited guests had started walking towards them. Without thinking twice, Beny Shawn instructed one of her bodyguards “keep her away from this wedding” That way, Sophia was dragged by her parents' bodyguard towards the dark area of the hotel. She tried to fight back but she couldn't. He kept pulling her, dragging her despite her pleas to let her walk because her ankle had been sprained but the bodyguard wouldn't listen to her. How would he listen to this woman who has only brought shame and disgrace to her parents. It was better that she was never brought home. They should have left her in the countryside and rot away in poverty. Sophia felt pains at her ankle due to the heels she was putting on. She was struggling but how strong can she contend with this iron fisted bodyguard of her parents. Eventually they arrived at a door and the bodyguard pushed the door open and shoved her in violently before bolting the door and going away.Amil shivered. The sight of blood scares him, and the echoes of the gunshots kept resounding in his ears and just like that, he couldn't say anything again. He just stood motionless at a spot. He wasn't blinking, he wasn't crying, his mind went blank. His grandma ran over and carried him , placing his head on her shoulders. The other activities were left to the securities to handle as Stan's chauffeur drove out of the Asher's estate. Stan held Sophia's head placing it against his torso. “Hold on Sophia, don't give up” Stan mumbled, urging the chauffeur to step on the accelerator and move faster. He is really worried, one of the bullets hit her in her side stomach and the second on her thighs. He's worried about the one that hit the stomach. It's dangerous and she's bleeding profusely. She saved Amil, it's evident. If the shooter aimed at her, it would have been her head or chest. But because she shielded Amil and turned him swiftly, the bullet met her.
Dekunle Shawn simply stepped aside and watched as the car zoomed off. Sophia just placed her head on the back rest and closed her eyes. Stan Asher came to her rescue. She'd heard how he talked to that man, that was supposed to be her father and he couldn't retort back at him. She'd learnt something. Sometimes getting angry and talking from a furious side doesn't help sometimes. Stan was calm and with gentility, he was dishing the words out to him. She didn't expect that he would defend her this way. In the past, he thought badly of her. But now, it appears he now believes that she's not the way he'd thought she was. It has come to that point where an outsider now defends her. An outsider sees her and knows the whole situation more than those who claim to be related to her. “Where were you in the past five years?” Stan asked, glancing at her briefly and looking away. Her father mentioned it and he knows she wasn't within Hilltown city before she was hir
Dekunle Shawn couldn't retort back at his daughter. How can she be so annoying? He'd come to talk to her about something, but before then,he needed to scold her first. “You've grown more disrespectful as the day passes. I sometimes wonder if you have my blood in your veins. You do things without considering the feelings of the other person affected? When did you become so weird? You disappeared from this city and your return was welcome with a scandal,a putrifying attitude. I was going to ask how you've been able to make Stan Asher forgive you and got into his company as an actress. Who's going to be interested in a movie that you are featured in? You are a characterless woman and I don't know where to keep my face if I'm pointed to as your father. If only you know the ruin the company will experience because of featuring you in its movie, they would never have attempted it. And now,you schemed against Diana? What has that girl done to you? How can you not acc
Kabir wouldn't let her go and Sophia raised her other hand to slap him,he dodged it and let her go “I said I'm sorry Sophia. Please forgive me. I couldn't sleep from the day I learnt the truth about that night. I lost my peace and nothing seemed to be working out well for me. All I need from you is forgiveness. Please forgive me” he pleaded, feeling really remorseful. “Forgive you on what? That you call me a promiscuous bitch and a cheat? Or is it based on the fact that you referred to me as a betrayer? You should have believed me but you didn't. You chose what you wanted. You went after what your filthy weak heart flaunts before you. You didn't believe me despite knowing me for years before anyone else in Hilltown city does. You went after Diana and fucked her. Shouldn't you think of another woman to fuck if you want to retaliate? Should it be that same woman that schemed against me and framed me? Then without remorse, you made love to her under the same roof th
“Oh really?” Sophia chimed and stood up. She was almost done having her lunch but because of the excitement, she couldn't really eat much. So hearing that someone was there to see her,she found a convenient excuse to step aside. It's Gabriel. He'd promised to stop by and cheer her up. She stepped out and saw a certain fellow standing with his back to her and she sneered. Even in her dreamland, she would recognize his back view. She glanced around further and didn't see Gabriel nor her Aunt. She turned around and was going to leave. Kabir Jamil, turned his back against the entrance of the guest house. He doesn't want to see her face immediately when she steps out, because his conscience hasn't been at ease for many days now. And when he perceived that someone came out, he knew she must be the one. He sighed softly and stilled his heart. Turning himself to glance at her,he saw that she was going back already and he quickly called her name. “Hello Sophie” Kabir
He had spent days thinking this over and over. Will Sophia be different from Diana, will she be ready to help her brother? “What about Craig? Is he alright, is he okay?” Sophia asked hurriedly. What happened to him, such a quiet easy brother she'd got. “Nothing bad dear. Two years ago, he was offered admission to study medicine. We couldn't afford the tuition fees and we asked Diana to assist us with whatever she could. She blatantly refused to help, saying she doesn't know us. I sent a message to you as well, but you never replied. So he couldn't go to school for two years now. But your mother and I have been saving all we could and this year he was offered admission again. We've managed to raise the tuition fees but we don't have anything else to support him with his accomodation and feeding. That's why I have called you. Can you speak with your parents to hire him for a part time job while schooling? He could work as a gardener, a cleaner or security so
