I gasped, “You?!”

Laura's eyes darted from my face to his, confusion and bewilderment engraved on her features. She shook her head slightly, as if trying to clear her thoughts, and then blurted out, "Excuse me, can someone please explain what's going on here?” She asked, intrigued.

"Hmm—seems we've met each other already," he said, giving me a smirk.

I regarded him for a long, long time, trying to recall the whole incident, if I'd in any way talked badly at him. And it seemed I did not.

“Is this true, Scarlett?" Laura asked, staring at me with eyes lit up with interest. “I would like to know more about it." She said,

“Well, it wasn't pleasant at all." He said, shoving his hands into the pockets of his slacks as he moved over to where Laura stood.

“How was it then? Pleasantly unpleasant?" Laura teased.

“Well, I nearly ran her over with my car, at Madison avenue. I wasn't thinking. I'd just been trying to clear my head after an argument with Leah. You know how it goes Mom.” He explained
