Her words lingered long after the silence swallowed them.

Damian's POV:

I wasn’t sure if she meant to tease me or warn me — but either way, I was already in too deep. The way she looked at me, with that blend of mystery and quiet defiance, did something to me. For the first time in a long while, I wasn’t the one in control.

I tried to laugh it off, to push back the weight of what I was feeling, but her eyes held me still. That night wasn’t supposed to mean anything — it was meant to distract me, to make me forget. Yet here I was, remembering every second.

"We'll finish what we came here for" I said giving her a mischievious smile, the demon in me had woken.

In a second, I grabbed Aria to the bed, taking her silver silk gown from her. I could hear her soft breath lightly over her skin.

Her skin stood flawlessly, smooth and perfect, shining bright like glass. Before she should realize it, I grabbed her soft, plump lips into mine. The kiss lingered and left us panting lightly.

"Something is off' I muttered.

"What is it?" She asked her eyes were fixed on me while, hands carressing my skin softly

"The light!"I didn't waste a second I switched it off immediately. Her bare body poured its shape into the whole mattress like a masterpece's work.

"You are beautiful " I said brushing her lips intimately.

"You are such a fine man, you must have been trained well," She replied, admiring my biceps.

"Well, my dad was strict to his bones," I chuckled the tension easing

"Maybe you have his traits" She teased, her grin wide and playful.

I laughed. She had seen through my polished exterior, the CEO title, to the man still scarred by Lila, she was indeed something. No one else had done that. Not in years.

I leaned closer my forehead resting against hers.

"Why do you do this, Aria? You're so...... different. You don't belong here"

"It's just a means to end it" she said quietly.

"College, my family—they need me to keep going.”

“Then why does it feel like you’re running from something?” The question slipped out, bolder than I meant.

Her eyes flickered with something. "You don't know me, Damian," she whispered, but her voice lacked conviction.

"I want to," I said, surprising to myself.

"This doesn't have to be one night"

She shook her head, pulling back slightly. “The agency doesn’t allow it. You know that.”

“Rules can be broken,” I countered, my voice firm. “I’m not letting you disappear.”

Her gaze softened, she reached out for her gown, slipping it back on with practiced grace.

"The time is far spent," she said. I stared at the clock, realizing that it was five in the morning, and we hadn't done what we had agreed on. That's off. Aria doesn't belong with this rubbish agency. The time i would spend with her is over.

“You’re a good man, Damian. Don’t get caught up in someone like me.”

Before I could argue, she stood, grabbing her purse. A small card fell to the floor, it's her student ID her name printed in bold Aria Hawthorn. She didn't notice but I did

A clue. My heart raced at the possibility.

“Aria, wait—” I started, but she was already at the door"

“Goodbye, Damian,” she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

The door clicked shut behind her.

I stood frozen. My eyes stared at the ID card on the floor, it was my only trace to her. I sank onto the bed, her scent still lingering on the sheets.

Lila’s betrayal had broken me, but Aria… she was a spark I couldn’t let fade.

My phone buzzed, pulling me from my thoughts.

It's Kace, my assistant.

“Sir, we have a problem. The new contract—the board’s panicking. Someone’s leaking our bid details to your rival. They’re undercutting us.” she said panicking.

I froze the ID still in my hands.

"How bad is it?" I asked, trying to control my emotions

“Bad,” Kace said. “If we don’t act fast, we could lose millions. The board’s calling an emergency meeting. Now!”

"I'll be there" I stood on my feet grabbing my shirt.

I stared at Aria's ID.

What could this be? Is this is a setup? My rival, the one Lila married!

I quickly finished my shopping. It took quite some time to arrange everything I bought into the black Cadillac car. Fred and I beamed with joy as we went through all the protocols required for us to travel back home.We were very joyous, and we couldn't wait to see Damian.I knew Damian would be happy—but not entirely. When I arrived, I quickly called my friend Salome to ask how she was doing.I had memorized her number years back, so it wasn't difficult calling her.“Hello?” I waited for the receiver on the other end.“Hi, who is this?”“Am I speaking with Salome?” I asked, because her phone was normally with her siblings.“This is Salome speaking, and who are you?”“It’s me, Aria. Salome, how are you doing?”“Aria… Aria…” Salome burst out crying.“Salome, I’m sorry. My phone had a problem, so I wasn’t able to call you.”“I’ve been looking for you everywhere! Your house got burnt. I heard you were harassed by thugs. I was so worried. How are you?” she wept.“Baby, I’m fine. I’m doing

We had a smooth flight and arrived just in time. Fred pulled up in a stark black Cadillac Escalade, the type that screamed money without trying hard. The windows were tinted so dark I couldn’t even see my reflection until I leaned in close. The afternoon sun glazed over the airport as I adjusted my silk hair, making sure every strand sat perfectly in place. "If I am going to play this game am going to play it well" I sighed. We pulled up to the valet at Dolphin’s Mall, Fred gripped the black card like it was his destiny. “Dolphin Mall, Ma’am. Are you ready?” I smiled slowly. “I was born ready. Let’s show the billionaire what he signed up for.” Fred swallowed. Dolphin’s Mall wasn’t just a mall — it was where price tags didn’t exist, because if you had to ask, you couldn’t afford it. “Which store first, Ma’am?” Fred asked carefully. “Gucci.” The glass doors slid open and heads turned immediately. The sales associate hurried toward us with a polished smile.

"You! I know you set her up! Who was the client? Wei, give me a name" I ordered Wei didn't flinch "Be careful Salome. Some names are too heavy for a girl like you to carry" A girl like me? Wei had the nerves to insult me!A drunk and weirdo like him. "Wei, how dare you?" my voice sounded dark and deep, I walked slowly around the office like the boss himself. "You gave me a threat right," I slammed his desk again and he got scared this time " I am giving you two days to find Aria immediately!" I stormed out of his office, banging the door behind me. Everyone in the agency knew me as a nice, cool girl. I was quite popular but what they didn't know was— I knew all if not everyone's secret. I was fondly called the scorpion by my old pals because my sting always left a scar. My legs moved swiftly. I ran away from Tourist Street, it was quite a distance but my body surged out of the area with a force I can't fathom. I knew what I have signed for, Wei won't just back out.

"Take her to the mall," Damian instructed, handing over the card to Fred. "Not just any mall. Take her to the Dolphin mall. And Fred? Make sure she doesn't come back with just one bag. " My breath hitched The Dolphin mall? I have seen it in magazines— a place where a single pair of shoes cost more than my old apartment. I looked at the black card in Fred's hand, it seemed like a ticket to luxury, a golden chain linking me and Damian. I could feel a swarm of butterflies erupting in my stomach, a mixture of nerves and pure excitement. "Is there a limit?" I teased Damian paused at the door, glancing back over his shoulder. "Try break it, Aria I dare you" He smirked— the first real one I have seen this morning. "Let's see" I grinned, biting my index finger softly, as I watched him turn away. He left me then, but his scent was still strong in the room. I hurried to the window, peeping through the heavy silk curtain. I watched as his BMW 7 series glided down the driveway

The silence that followed was defeaning. It wasn't just quite, it was the kind of silence that rings in the ears.Heavy with the weight of secrets I had just strip bare I could not bring myself to look at Damian's face anymore. The arrogance I usually saw there has been replaced my something raw. His look fueled a fire in me. "Pride" I hissed loudly. I rolled my eyes trying to mask the fact that my hands were trembling. "Fred" Damian called "Yes sir" He replied choking lighty The staff member— Fred— left the scene his eyes darting between us. He looked like he wanted to vanish into the floorboards. He did not wait a second, he gathered the start napkins and vanished towards the kitchen, until it was just two of us.Just the two of us and the ghost of the night we wanted to forget. Damian didn't move. His fingers still resting near the edge of the table, his knuckles still white. His gaze remained locked on mine, dark and unreadable. "Aria! is that all I was to you?" his

“Madam, is anything the matter?” a knock came followed by a familiar voice. I stood up quickly and wiped my tears. Opening the door, I saw the staff member standing there. “I'm—I'm so sorry to disturb you…” I stammered. “No need. Tell me, what can I help you with?” he asked kindly. I bit my lower lip, studyingat him. I didn’t know if he wanted to help me out. “Em… it’s my phone. I was in the rain, so I guess it developed a fault, and I wanted to call my friend.” “Ah! See, ma’am, I am not a phone repairer, but I am going to get one early this morning,” he reassured me. I nodded to myself. I felt like jumping out of my skin, I hadn't realize he could hear me crying. “Is that okay?” “Yes, very well,” I replied. “And?” he questioned, studying my face. I was confused at the moment. “You must be hungry” he asked. “Y-yes!” “You could simply have told me. It's no problem at all,” he said, leading me out out of the room. “Okay, I understand now!” I smiled. He led
