A visit to Caspian Power

Lucy.

With delight, I sat on the bed, with my legs crossed. I squinted my eyes at the screen light and read the message carefully.

"First, business matters with me are not discussed through emails."

Oops! I was not expecting that. I went ahead to read the second message.

"Secondly, Every business problem should be brought to my office."

I shut the laptop and placed it back on the table. This meant that I would be going to Caspian Power tomorrow.

I felt anxious, I felt scared at the same time. I have never been there, and I have never interacted with an important person like Mr. Christian before. Of course, my Boss, Mr. Frederick, was a famous man, but not as famous as Mr. Christian.

I was not even a worker there, which made everything difficult for me.

I sat in bed, with my eyes closed. I made a sign of the cross and asked God to give me the grace to deal with this.

After that, I  got out of bed.  I went to my closet and rummaged through it. I had to choose my best clothes.  Something presentable.

I was to look smart and appealing because I knew that, that's what some of these rich people wanted. However, I wouldn't pass myself. I barely had enough money to buy flashing clothes and all that stuff.

After picking out my outfit, I finally went to bed.

Morning came, and I stood in front of my bathroom mirror. I checked out my outfit. "You don't look bad at all, girl." I smiled at the mirror in front of me.

I was dressed in a white long-sleeved shirt that fitted my body. I paired it with black tailored pants, whose edges ended above my ankle.

I shrugged on a red blazer over the shirt. My waist-length coffee brown was in a low bun. To complete my dressing, I slid my feet into my red stilettos. I grabbed my black Fendi handbag and exited my room.

I couldn't afford to be late. I had a light shade of red lipstick on my lips. Because I didn't like makeup that much.

"Where are you going, all dressed like this?" I rolled my eyes in boredom, the moment I entered the front room to find my younger brother sitting on the black couch, with a bowl in his hands.  Whatever he was eating this morning.

"To work".  I said shortly not having time for any of his questions.

" I have never seen you dressed like this smart to work"

God, he never stops talking.  When I was at the door, I spun around to catch him still staring at me with a doubtful expression.

" I'm going to work, Brandon.  If I don't return early, tell Mother not to worry too much". I rubbed my forehead.  I might develop a migraine on my way to work if I didn't stop talking with him.

" I hope you have taken enough food with you. If not, at least some chips." He let out a sheepish smile.  As earlier said, I didn't have time for him this morning.

I got in the black Audi that my father had gotten for me, about three years ago.

I drove to Caspian Power.  It was about an hour's drive from my house.  Thank God for the GPS I had in my car.

The company was in a secluded area. While driving, I noticed that the cars roaming the streets had Caspian Power written on them.

My car came to a stop a few meters away from the main entrance.  It was an open space, with the company located inside.

I got out of the car and decided to walk into the company.  Once I was close, I was welcomed with a beautiful view of tall cypress and Avenue trees, at each corner of the road that led inside the building.

The area inside was large such that it could harbor a whole community.

The building was long and had more than 50 floors.  The windows were made up of aqua-blue glass material.  Some of the windows were opened and others closed.

Just above the 10th floor, there was a big signpost with the words  Caspian Power written in red and bold.

I inhaled and exhaled, taking a few steps in front.  I didn't know where to start looking for Mr. Christian.

If not for that old man called Mr.Frederick, I wouldn't have been here.

Voo-Voom!.

I almost stumbled to the side, when a red car drove past me at full speed.

Just wow.

"Do you have an appointment?" I stopped dead in my tracks when a deep masculine voice echoed behind me.

I could hear my heart thumping heavily in my chest.

"I-I -want to..."

I stammered, not knowing exactly what to say. I didn't have an appointment.  Hell no, I did. I did have one. Realization hit me.

I quickly spun around, my eyes came in contact with a security guard.  He was tall and had large muscles.  His head was bald. He held this murderous look on his face.

"Yes, I have an appointment with Mr. Christian. He asked me to come this morning."

I said in one go. The man scoffed and looked at me in disgust. He had a bait in his hands.

"Are you one of those lost ladies in the city that would try to seduce my boss ?"

He squinted his eyes under the rising morning sun. I was dumbfounded at what he just said.

Like how good was his Boss that I would waste my time to do that? I mean I had important things to do.

"If your Boss were a God sent to deliver mankind, I would have attempted to do that." I scoffed.

These rich people were something.

Before anything, he stomped towards me.

He roughly grabbed my risk and tried to drag me outside.

"You don't have any reason to give. So leave, don't come back." He growled, dragging me roughly this time.

"I need to see your Boss.  Do not drag me out".

I  tried to peel his hand away from mine, but his grip only tightened around my hand.

"Perhaps you want me to use this bait on your head".

He groaned. I couldn't go back, without seeing Mr. Christian. At this point, I had to use the only defensive method in my head. As he dragged me along, I managed to bend and took off my shoes.

Taking him by surprise, I smashed the heels on his forehead, the pain welcomed him as he quickly let me go.

"You low life." He groaned in pain, He tried to catch me. I dodged him. Again, I used all the power I had in me and kneed him in his groin.

He stumbled to the floor and let out a loud shout.

Just great Lucy.

You have started so well.  Mr. Frederick would be pleased with you.

I rolled my eyes hard as I thought of the old man.

Such a nuisance.

Well, if only the guard had let me in.

I grabbed my shoe and ran towards the entrance of the company.

Confused about which road to take, my eyes darted to a pot-belly man, dressed in a sky blue shirt, and black trousers entering a door other than the main one.

I took that direction.  "I'm sorry sir."

I quickly apologized as I  ran past him to an open elevator.

With no idea to which room it was leading, I mapped inside and almost immediately, I was carried to a floor, a quiet floor at that.

The door to the elevator opened and behold, I froze, the moment my eyes landed on two heavily armed policemen standing in front of me, with dark expressions on their faces.

My legs immediately go limp. Did they see what happened outside? Of course, a company like this should have cameras everywhere.

How sweet, Lucy.

I wanted to bang my head against the wall, next to me. Realizing that I still needed my head to function in order to talk to Mr. Christian,  I put up a straight face and looked at the  policemen

"What?" I shrugged my shoulders. Why were they staring at me like that?

None of them said a word. The next thing they did was to drag me through a long corridor,  till we came to a stop at the end of a glass door.

"Let go of my hands. You are going to ruin my dress"  I barked. If they kept up like this, Mr. Christian might send me outside because of my twisted clothes.

I tried to seize my hand from them, but they were a hundred times stronger than me.

Before anything, the door in front of me swung open. I was roughly pushed inside such that I almost stumbled to the floor.

They immediately closed the door behind me.

"Was that the best way to get into my company? By hitting my guard on the head and kneeling him in the balls."

A deep, husky voice echoed in the room I was pushed in. I looked forward to seeing ...

"Mr. Christian!" I mumbled, not believing that my little show out there, let me directly to him.

"Oh, my good God. How am I still alive? Is that you, Mr. Caspian?"

I was lost, I was dumbfounded. I  didn't know if I should run to him, and give him a tight hug. It was just like me seeing my favorite celebrity.

"I asked you a question, peasant." He growled.

Peasant! Ah, my favorite celebrity is getting me mad now.

However, I decided to ignore his unpleasant comments toward me and decided to answer his question.

"Oh about that..." I glanced around his amazing office before my eyes settled on him seated across the table, with a steady hand under his chin. "That was just a pair of balls. It can be replaced with the balls of a goat, cow, or pig. Just to name a few. Balls are a cheap commodity nowadays.  You. Can. Find. Them. Literally.  Anyway. " I dragged out the words as my eyes landed on his already dark expression.

I watched him struggle to say something, but nothing was coming out.

Perfect!

"You know, even his skull that I banged, can be replaced with the skull of any of the animals I mentioned above."

His dark wavy hair was neatly brushed behind.

I was not believing it. I was standing in front of Mr. Christian of Caspian Power

"God man, is that you?" I never in a million years thought that I had been meeting him

I was tempted to run over to where he was seated and give him a tight hug.

God! My favorite celebrity.

"You are just so beautiful, handsome to be true." I rambled on. But felt disappointed as he was not saying anything at all.

I pouted my lips and faked a sad face. And maintained silence. Perhaps I was talking too much.

"I asked you a question, young lady? Do you know that is  a criminal act and could result in years of imprisonment?"

He flexed a brow at me and I gulped.

"But I did answer you..." I defended myself.

My legs were already hurting from me standing.  I needed to sit down.

I almost forgot the reason I was here.

"H- he wouldn't let me in and I..."

"You decided to forcefully make your way inside". He completed my sentence, with a frown on his face.

"But sir/ boss, I already told you my reason for doing that. Had it been he had let me inside, I wouldn't have done that to the poor guy."

I bit on my lips, with my hands behind my back.

He looked furious. It was left just the slightest bit of provocation for him to lose his mind and then I had been in police custody.

A few minutes passed by without him saying anything. But then, he picked up his phone and typed something on it, before placing it back on the table.

He then looked at me. That's when I noticed his deep sleepy sea-green eyes and his pink plum lips. His angular brows raised in a questioning glare as he looked at me.

He had a perfectly chiseled face, with high cheekbones.

What a man.

"Where did you come from and what brought you to my office?"

He yelled from his seat, which caused me to shudder.  However, being me, I had to sit down, before answering any of his questions.

"Ummm..."

My eyes glanced at his office one more time, finding the perfect place to sit, and there; my eyes met the black couch in front of a bookshelf.

Perfect.

"Do you mind me sitting down first?"  That was a question but not necessarily for him to answer because I already made my way there.

"What is that? Why are you sitting on that couch, you peasant? Don't you have any respect?"

He slammed his fist on the table, which made looked at him.

For calling me  a peasant the second time, he would  deal with this.

I leaned into the couch like I didn't hear what he said.

These rich people were typically rude and arrogant for no reason.

Maybe, he just met his match.

"Ahem!" I cleared my throat and said

"My Boss, Mr. Frederick was hoping you could give him some time to pay the light bills since he can't pay at the moment..."

I rambled on, hoping that what I said made sense.

A half-lip smile danced on his lips and I wondered if I just cracked a joke.

Just then, he got up from where he was sitting and before I could register what was happening, he was standing right in front of me, with his hand around my neck.

"You sure have some nerves to leave the gutters where you belong to come act in my company like I'm in a partnership with your father.

 "You are..."

Before I could finish my sentence, the door behind him opened, and his next words made me wish that I shouldn't have  acted the way I did.

"Lock her up".

A thunderous voice echoed in the room and I turned to Mr. Christian, who had this cold and dark expression on his face.
