After minutes of driving through quiet roads and dim-lit streets, Kyle finally pulled the car to a gentle stop. I blinked, adjusting to the stillness. The hum of the engine faded, replaced by the softer sounds of the night leaves rustling in the breeze, the distant hum of life somewhere else.

We were here.

We stepped out of the car, and I looked around, wrapping my arms around myself instinctively against the slight chill in the air. My eyes widened when I realized where we were.

The observatory.

It stood quietly in front of us, its dome like a crown beneath the sprawling night sky. The path up to it was lined with small lights, leading us like stars on the ground.

“Well, we’re here,” Kyle said, sliding his hands into his pockets.

I turned slowly in a circle, taking it all in.

“Wow,” I breathed, and I meant it. The beauty wasn’t extravagant, it was calm, reverent, almost like the univers

  • The Billionaire’s Contracted Bride   The Truth about the pregnancy

Kyle was the one who invented the experiment? But how could that be possible? My fingers trembled slightly as I scrolled down, heart thudding in my chest like a quiet drumbeat of panic.•••• "Little Kyle was a genius. He knew too much more than any child should. At just his little age, he scribbled down something in a notebook. A strange formula, a theory... whatever it was, it got into Mrs. Prescott’s hands. From that moment, things were never the same."I could almost picture it, a child sitting at a table, eyes too focused for his age, writing something no one should understand at that age. And then that notebook finding its way to the wrong hands.••••• "With the little I managed to find out, that idea of his became the foundation for what later turned into the experiment. At first, they tried it on animals. It failed. A doctor then suggested they use a child, claiming the blood of children was... different. Pure. Full of potential. They tried. And it worked. That was how it all b

  • The Billionaire’s Contracted Bride   The Inventor

As I opened the box, I saw several small pieces of papers like letters, from the look of them. And then, nestled in between, was a necklace with the letter ' N ' on it.He must’ve wanted me to have it.I stared at the necklace, the soft silver catching the light, and I couldn’t help but smile a little. I placed it gently beside me and continued rummaging through the box. That’s when I noticed an envelope. It stood out from the rest not crumpled or aged like the others. It looked new, like someone had just placed it there.Still, I decided to read the old letters first. Even though there were quite a few, I took my time. Some made me smile. Others made me pause and question things I thought I understood. Most of the letters were DK pouring his heart out, how much he admired me, how much he hated living at Sunshine Home Orphanage. His words were raw, unfiltered. I could feel the loneliness he’d carried all these years. A part of me a

When I got to the orphanage, it was locked. Not a single soul in sight passing by the surroundings. The building was more silent, like it had been holding its breath all these years.I walked around the perimeter, past the familiar fence, and made my way to the back of the orphanage. For a moment, I just stood there, staring at the place .That’s when I noticed it.A rusted, broken steel cover lay crooked over a hole in the ground, barely concealing it. I bent down, hesitated for a second, then carefully moved the rusted steel aside. A musty scent rose up from the darkness beneath. I adjusted my dress, gathered the courage that seemed to be slipping away from me, and climbed down into the narrow tunnel. It led me directly inside the orphanage.Dust and cobwebs coated the floor and walls, and my dress picked up smudges of dirt, but I didn’t care. I had one thing on my mind. The tree.I stepped outside to the backyard,

Kyle stepped closer and gently took the knife from my hand, though I wasn’t even sure when I had let go. My fingers loosened on instinct, as if they no longer belonged to me.Without a word, he walked over to where Freya was still on her knees. Then, to my surprise, he crouched in front of her. He didn’t look at her right away. Instead, he stared at the knife in his hand, his expression unreadable.“So… you were planning to drive this through my chest?” he asked quietly, his tone calm, just too calm. His eyes never left the blade as he traced its sharp edge with his index finger, completely unbothered by the risk of cutting himself.“I’m really sorry,” Freya choked out again. “I’m sorry…”Kyle looked up and gave a slight nod to the two guards, who understood the silent command and left without a word. Then, he turned to the other maids. One glance from him, and they all vanished too

After we got home, the maids were still moving around quietly, and Kyle went straight upstairs without saying a word. I stood there for a second, watching him disappear, his footsteps fading as he turned the corner.I was about to go check on Freya when one of the maids approached me slowly and bowed her head slightly.“Ma’am… Freya is gone,” she said softly.I turned to her sharply, my heart skipping. “What? Gone? What do you mean gone , where?”“She got a call… from someone,” the maid explained nervously. “She seemed in a hurry. We tried to stop her, but… she… she threatened us with a knife before leaving the house.”Her words hit me like cold water.A knife?Freya?I stared at the maid, unable to say anything. My brain was trying to process the pieces but nothing was clicking.Who had called her?Where could she have gone in that condition?“You can go,” I said quietly, and she bowed again and walked away.I went upstairs, my heart beating fast, and walked into my room. I looked at

  • The Billionaire’s Contracted Bride   Last Moment

I stood frozen, unable to move from where I was as the room filled with urgency. The doctor rushed in first, followed by a team of nurses and then Kyle. My eyes were still glued to DK’s body on the bed, his chest motionless, his hand still slightly outstretched as if he had been reaching for something. For me.I took a few shaky steps backward, almost stumbling, as I watched the doctor place the defibrillator pads on DK’s chest.“One… two… three!” he called, and I saw DK’s chest jerk upward from the shock, then fall back again. His body looked so fragile, too still, like it could break into pieces with just one wrong touch. My hands began to tremble violently, and I didn’t even realize Kyle had stepped beside me until I felt his hand wrap gently around mine. His grip was firm, grounding but I couldn’t feel anything except the stabbing ache that spread through my chest. Why was this happening? Why now?Why him?I tried to steady my breathing, but it was no use. The room felt smaller, s
