MARIA

“THIS IS A CASTLE, MARIA!!!” Ann gushed with her mouth agape the moment she walked through the front door. She dropped her bag by the door without taking her eyes off the house, staring like Alice in Wonderland, her eyes wide as saucers.

“Thank you for coming, Ann,” I said with a smile, simultaneously engulfing her in a hug.

“No. Thank you for inviting me. Shit. I can only see this kind of house in my romance novels, Maria.” She gushed, trailing her fingers over things and whistling.

Her excitement was contagious, and I couldn’t stop the grin from spreading across my face.

Just then Isaac and his nanny Riley walked into the room—well, more like Isaac ran in while Riley chased after him. The moment he saw me, he ran into my arms and I picked him up.

“Oh no, Marie,” Ann shrieked. “This is just unfair. You have a beautiful man, a fairytale house, and a striking son. What is your life!!”

She rushed over to Isaac, still in my arms, and greeted him. She opened her arms and, being the

ELIAS“This wasn’t what we agreed on, Elias!!”I looked up from my laptop at the sound of my door crashing open. My secretary stood there, blocking Giana from entering, but Giana had already pushed her way past. The two of them were locked in a useless standoff until I raised my head.“I don’t recall us ever having any sort of agreement, Giana,” I grumbled, snapping my laptop shut. With a flick of my fingers, I dismissed my secretary. If she couldn’t stop people from barging into my office, I might need to replace her.Giana huffed, marching over to the chair in front of me as if she owned the place. She dropped into it heavily, her eyes red and blotchy. She looked like she had crawled out of hell itself, but that wasn’t my problem.“I didn’t tell you what I did so you could threaten him. That wasn’t the plan!!” she cried, slapping her small palm against my desk. It barely made a sound, but I supposed it was the effort that counted.“What exactly did you think I was going to do with t

MARIAElias froze mid-motion, tucking in his crisp white shirt. He turned, his face serious. “Stop what, princess?” His expression was straight as a soldier at parade. My stomach churned. My pulse hammered in my throat. There were only two paths this conversation could take: he would shut me down, or he would listen.“I want you to stop hunting down the men who killed your father,” I said softly. His face didn’t change. He stood there, silent, watching me.“I know it’s hard,” I whispered, dragging in a shaky breath. My eyes dropped from his piercing green gaze. “It’s hard to know the people who destroyed your family are still alive and breathing. I know how hard it is, Elias.” I forced myself to look back at him. His eyes were still on me, steady, burning. “But you have a family now. Isaac, yourself… and maybe me?”At that last part, his jaw tightened. He began to move toward me, slow and heavy, his hands deep in his pockets.“Maybe you?” he repeated, his voice sharp, like that was th

  • The Billionaire’s Deaf Wife   Chapter 53: Warmth

MARIAThe warmth of last night lingered in my body, but it wasn’t enough. The pleasure I felt lying with Elias, being taken by him, wasn’t strong enough to carry me through the long hours of the night. It wasn’t enough to silence the storm in my chest or the racing of my heart.Usually, whenever my heart raced like this, it was because of Elias, because of how much I loved him, or how much I longed for him. But not this time. This time my heart pounded for an entirely different reason. Fear.I was afraid. Afraid for Elias. Afraid for my little boy, Isaac. Afraid of what I saw in Lucia’s eyes the night before, the cold determination that promised she wouldn’t stop until she got what she wanted. Afraid of the faceless man who seemed to be pushing her, feeding her hatred, and who clearly had unfinished business with my husband. And most of all, I was afraid of the thought creeping into my own mind. Afraid of what I might have to do, and what it might cost me.Elias had known without me s

Elias’s POV“You were right, boss. He is on the move already. We confirmed that he and Lucia met at the bar two weeks ago.”Kola filled me in the moment he entered my office. His face was tense, his words clipped. He had just dropped Maria at home after her meeting with her sister and had mentioned that she remained stiff and quiet throughout the entire car ride.If my guess was correct—as it almost always was, Lucia had told her that they, her and him, were coming after me.“Do we have his location?” I asked, collecting the documents from Kola’s hands. My eyes ran through them, scanning every detail. It was almost identical to what Damon had shown me. His face was always covered, but it wasn’t too hard to recognize him, even if pretending I didn’t know him in front of Damon and Maria was the only way to cover my ass.Kola growled a heavy “no boss” under his breath, the sound low and frustrated, perhaps annoyed that, for once, things weren’t going according to his plan.I hummed, lean

MARIAWhat could be worse than knowing my twin sister had touched herself to the thought of my husband, and in his bedroom of all places? The thought was enough to make my stomach twist and my throat tighten.Lucia did not even give me a moment to breathe or digest the weight of what she had just confessed before she went on, her voice calm, almost detached, like she had rehearsed these words for too long.“There were times I eavesdropped on him dressing up for work,” she said, her eyes far away as if reliving the memory. “Elias somehow knew I was there, but he didn’t acknowledge me. He never looked my way once after we had that first argument about Isaac.”Isaac. At the mention of his name, fresh anger clawed its way up my chest. My son—why had she not cared for him all this while? Why had she left him to me alone, despite all the plans we had made together, all the training we endured? But deep inside, I already knew the answer. She never cared.Lucia’s voice broke into my thoughts,
