I had been married to Declan Davenport for ten days, and I still couldn’t bring myself to accept that. We didn’t go on a honeymoon because he was busy with launching a new project.

It wasn’t like I wanted to go on one anyways. Honeymoons were reserved for those who were in love, and we weren’t.

However, I had to say that Declan was incredibly nice to me. He was so nice that I sometimes found myself wondering if this was all an act, and he had an ulterior motive.

It was Saturday already, and I made a rule when I first started working as a freelancer that Saturdays were for myself, and I wouldn’t work on them. Since I didn’t have anything to do, I decided to bake something. I liked to bake from time to time, and it had been a while since I last baked something.

I was in my room all morning, lying down on my new comfortable bed. The room Declan had given me was perfect. I only ordered a few things online to make it more welcoming and personal, but it was elegant in its own way.

I changed into a pair of shorts and a sleeveless top when we returned home. What Declan had done tonight caused emotions to catch up in my throat. I couldn’t understand why he was doing all of that for me, but I was grateful for everything he had done.I heard a knock on my door, and I knew it was Declan. There was nobody but us in the house.“Come in,” I called out, tying my hair in a high ponytail.“Hi,” he said, making his way toward me.I didn’t know when it happened, but the more time passed, the more I realized I wanted to spend more time with him.“Hey.” I smiled, sitting down on the edge of my bed. What brought him to my room?“There’s something I want to show you,” he said, standing in front of me.“What is it?” I tilted my head. He had also changed into black sweatpants and a slim-fit light grey tank top. I couldn’t stop staring at his muscles. His body was perfect. How was I not supposed to stare when he looked like that?“Close your eyes,” he said. I did, curiosity suddenl

One look at my wife made me forget how to breathe properly. Tonight, she was dressed in a sparkling indigo dress that would never look that good on any woman but her.“You’re dressed in my favorite color,” I commented with a smile, silently admiring every inch of her body. Kendra Davenport was a masterpiece.“I didn’t notice I was wearing your favorite color,” she smirked, walking over to me. She had a tie in her hands that matched the color of her dress.“You were planning to surprise me, right?” I chuckled as she wrapped the tie around my neck and started tying it.When I asked about the color of her dress a few days ago to match my tie with it, she told me she was going to get it for me. I asked her last night if she had gotten it for me, and she told me I was only going to see it right before we left the house.“Do you like the surprise?” She was so close to me, and all I wanted was to kiss her plump lips. I had been craving them like crazy ever since we kissed on the couch almost

My heart threatened to burst. No one had cared about me like that since Mom’s death. The Davenports hadn’t left me on my own ever since I had the surgery. When I woke up at the hospital yesterday, I found Declan, Lana, and Meryl with me in the room. Their presence took away all the fear I had in my heart.Mom died in the OR when I was young, and since then, I absolutely despised hospitals. I knew that she was terminally ill, and the surgery wasn’t the main cause of her death, but that didn’t stop me from hating hospitals.“I promise I’m fine. You don’t need to mess up your schedule for me,” I tried to convince Meryl not to stay to take care of me, but she wasn’t having it.“I’m not messing up anything. Stop worrying, and just rest,” she said as Declan helped me lie down on the couch.“Can you just focus on recovery and nothing else? Nobody is bothered by taking care of you,” Declan told me, looking me in the eyes.My heart raced whenever he looked at me like that. It was hard not to f

I headed to the kitchen when I woke up, thinking I’d find Kendra there, but to my surprise, I didn’t. Ten days ago, we agreed to be friends, and while I didn’t know how to be friends with someone I wanted to kiss whenever I saw them, the deal was a good start.I made my way back upstairs and headed to her room to see if she was awake. She told me last night she was going to wake up early because she had a meeting. Maybe she slept in.I knocked on her door and waited for her to give me the cue to walk in, but she didn’t. I opened the door slowly and found her curled up on the bed.I approached her and frowned when I saw her clutching her stomach tightly. What was wrong with her?“Kendra,” I said in a soft voice, not wanting to startle her if she was asleep. Was she a light sleeper?“Yes.” The sound she made was more of a whimper.“What’s going on, flame?” I sat down beside her, suddenly worried. She was okay yesterday. What happened?“My stomach hurts a lot.” She sniffed, hugging her s

A knock on my door made me zone out of the state of concentration I had been in for a while.“Come in,” I said, getting up from the stool.I was surprised when Declan walked into my room because I wasn’t used to him coming here. For the past two weeks, we had been on good terms. We didn’t talk much; however, when we did, it was done in a friendly manner. I even found myself enjoying our small conversations.“Hi,” he said with a small smile. He was dressed casually in some sweatpants and a dark blue T-shirt.“Hey.” I smiled back, heading towards him.“Have you been drawing?” he wondered, and I nodded. It had been a while since Lana mentioned me on her account, and I already had three paintings that I needed to finish within this month—not including the one I promised Ares.“I want to show you something,” he said, and I wasn’t sure if I was imagining things, but Declan looked slightly nervous. Why would he?“Sure,” I said.“Come with me.” I expected him to show me something on his pho

I was in the living room, waiting for Kendra to finish getting ready. She told me her dress was emerald green, and I ended up buying a new tie that matched its color because I didn’t have a matching tie.I heard the sound of her heels against the floor, so I stood up. When I turned around, my heart skipped a beat. She didn’t just look beautiful—she was an absolute goddess. Her dress perfectly hugged her body, making me wonder if it was possible to look this good. The beaded bodice and the sleek satin skirt made her glow. The dress was long, reaching the floor, and it had a slit that gave the design a sensual touch.“You’ve been staring for a little while. Should I be worried?” I liked the playfulness in her voice.“You look stunning,” I said, unable to prevent myself from smiling as she walked toward me.“You look good, too.” Her rose-tinted cheeks got pinker. “Your tie is exactly the same shade as my dress.” Her hazel eyes were bright as she looked at me.“It took me a while to find
