I froze.

For a split second, I wasn’t sure I’d heard him right.

Bend?

My pulse thundered in my ears, heat blooming in the back of my neck. My thoughts were already running wild when his taunting chuckle echoed in my ear.

“I’m talking about the game, Scarlett.”

My stomach dropped and my shoulders stiffened as a wave of embarrassment slammed into me.

Right. The game.

How else would I play if I didn’t bend?

Scarlett Bennett, get your mind out of the fucking gutters.

“I know...can you step back a l

“Keep your elbow down.”I lowered my arm.“Not that far.”“Then stop telling me to lower it.”Cassian laughed behind me. “You’re remarkably argumentative for someone holding a loaded weapon.”We were at the shooting range. Of course a place this huge had one. Cassian had shown me the polo lounge, the equestrian center, and then we ended up here. Somehow, I was now awkwardly holding a loaded pistol while he’d been expecting me to take a shot for the past ten minutes. The thing was, I wasn’t cut out for this. But Cassian wouldn’t give up on me, which was quite touching and funny at the same time.PAWW!Shots echoed through the room as the other shooters fired at their targets.I flinched at the sound and immediately lost my stance again. I sighed, dropping my hands, and turned to look at Cassian, who kept a straight face.“Earmuffs. Shouldn’t I have those?”He snapped his fingers like I’d just given him the brightest idea. “Ah, yes. You know, I was wondering what was missing.”I chuckle

  • The Billionaire's Dirty Obsession   87. Old Flame

-Lucien thought the best way to make those twenty minutes interesting was to spend them teasing and edging me until I was begging him to take me.I think I may have cried at some point. It had been unbearable how aroused I was.But on the bright side, I did not blow him in the car. Though, considering how quickly I’d drop to my knees if he asked me to now, there was nothing bright about that.“Sweetheart. Still with me?”Lucien stood by the window, leaning forward on his elbows against the glass as he stared at me with a knowing look.I blinked, trying to shake off the fog of desire. When did he get out of the car? No, when did he even stop the car?My eyes darted through the windshield, taking in my surroundings. Ahead of us was a huge building complex, with an open field beside it. A few people were riding horses across it. Other than my brief confusion about where we were, the place looked like some sort of recreational center.Drawing in a deep breath, I shot Lucien a glare. “I h

  • The Billionaire's Dirty Obsession   86. A bore.

~Scarlett:-“Where did you say we were going again?”I asked once the tension in the car had finally settled. We’d left the restaurant about twenty minutes ago, and Lucien had been driving south ever since.Initially, the drive had been great. The playlist was mine, so we spent most of it discussing my immaculate taste in music until we got caught between two truck drivers engaged in what could only be described as vehicular warfare. And all Lucien had done since we got trapped was tighten his jaw and sigh like the city had personally offended him.The situation had been bad, but that didn’t mean it wasn’t funny. I’d laughed at his expense so much, I think he might be mad at me.Lucien glanced at me, a crease forming between his brows. “Are you tired of laughing?”Another fit of giggles burst out. “You looked so done, it was entertaining,” I said, trying to muffle the sound. He scoffed. “Is that something you should say to your boss, Ms. Bennett?”“My boss is a kind and perceptive ma

  • The Billionaire's Dirty Obsession   85. I don’t offer commitment

~ Lucien:Scarlett’s expression shifted almost instantly after I said the word marriage. It wasn't dramatic. She was too composed for that. But something in her eyes cooled. The waiter returned with our coffees on a tray and said something about our breakfast coming in ten and then went off to the back.Scarlett reached for her cup like she wanted something to ground her. She then cleared her throat, her gaze darting away for a split second before returning to mine.“What exactly do you want to know about it?”Yeah, what exactly. “You can start wherever you want.”“Why are you even asking me this now?”“Curiosity.” I shrugged one shoulder. Her lips pursed as her eyes flicked toward the anniversary couple beside us.Right.Not exactly subtle. The truth was, outside of knowing Stephen Kane was an asshole and that the marriage had ended badly, I knew almost nothing about that part of her life.Which shouldn't have bothered me.Scarlett was my employee. The rest of whatever existed betwee

  • The Billionaire's Dirty Obsession   84. Divorced with opinions.

Lucien’s breath left him roughly against my neck as he finished, one hand tightening hard against my waist while the other steadied my hip like he didn’t trust either of us not to fall apart completely.Which was fair.Because I already had.A shaky exhale left me as I slumped back against his chest, my head dropping back against his shoulder while both of us tried to catch our breath. For a few seconds, neither of us moved.Morning light spilled through the glass around us now, warm against overheated skin.My legs had given up after the first orgasm against the glass, and apparently, Lucien’s solution to that had been hauling me into his lap on a lounger facing the city afterward and continuing like gravity, dignity and common sense no longer applied to either of us.Now sprawled across his lap — completely naked, exhausted and exposed to the thankfully highrise-free skyline — I was still trying to process the fact that I’d just had sex overlooking New York in broad daylight. It was

  • The Billionaire's Dirty Obsession   83. Portable Binoculars

Scarlett:The universe had impeccable timing.Lucien did not seem to appreciate that. The naught in his eyes when he looked ready to continue whatever sinful idea had just cross his mind was now replaced by a hint of irritation as his phone lit up against the marble. His expression shifted as he glanced at the screen.“Marla,” he muttered.Right.He reached for the phone but not before his hand settled against my waist and pulled me forward onto the stool, then his fingers flexed once like he disliked having to step away at all.“Stay right here,” he said distractedly before answering. And then just like that, he shifted. Not completely. I could still feel traces of whatever had been happening between us lingering in the air. But the second the call started, something sharper settled over him. Colder. Focused.Business Lucien.I picked the mug and took a sip of the coffee while pretending I wasn’t staring at him. That failed miserably. Because unfairly attractive included listening to
