“You told me it was over," she spoke. "Do you have feelings for this slut?"
"I love her. I want to be with her, not you," he replied. "There is nothing you can do to change that."
"I don't understand," she screamed, "She is nothing, a nobody. Have your fling like you always do, and be done with her. I am not moving out of the way for that, that woman."
"No, you don't understand," he declared. "You never meant anything to me. You were a business deal—a marriage of convenience. I have what I want from you. I fulfilled my obligation. Now I want a divorce."
She picked up the crystal vase and threw it in the direction of his head. He moved just in time to dodge it. It struck the fireplace brick and shattered in a ton of jagged shards.
"ARE YOU CRAZY?" He stared at her, bewildered.
"You're the one that has lost your mind," she said coyly. "I will take you for EVERYTHING you are worth. Let's see how long it lasts when your reputation is smeared all over the sidewalk."
"Are you threatening me?" He laughed.
"Call it what you want. I will destroy you," she responded.
"You seem to have forgotten two very important points," he snarled at her, "First of all, you signed an ironclad prenup agreement. Second, I have the photos, remember?"
"You wouldn't!" She yelled.
"Try me."
"You will regret this," she threatened. "You both will regret this."
"The only thing I regret is the fact that I married you in the first place," he replied. He turned and walked out the door, leaving her standing there.
As soon as the door closed, she reached for her phone. "Come on, pick up the phone," she said with disdain.
"Hello," a male voice answered.
"Evander, we need to meet," she advised.
"When?" Evander asked, "Same location as usual?"
"Tomorrow, 10 am. Regular location," she demanded. "I will pay 4 times the regular rate. This is a special request. It needs to be done quickly and discreetly."
"You can count on my team," Evander said.
"Good," She hung up the line.
The maid walked in. "Clean up this mess," she barked at the maid and sashayed out of the room.
NEXT DAY
"How long do we have to wait for this lady," the dark-haired man said to his partner.
"As long as it fucking takes," Evander replied, "She is paying us enough to retire."
"Really? She must want these people dead," the dark-haired man shook his head.
The room was so dark that he barely knew she had entered except for the sound of her high heels clicking their way across the floor. He shivered as a cold aura of power hit his body as she approached.
“You understand,” she said in an elegant voice. “It needs to look like an accident.”
“Yes, ma’am,” Evander said, “my team is the best there is. No one will even question their deaths.”
“For what I'm paying you,” she declared, “it better be good. I want them gone. I want them to feel the pain they have given me for all these years. I want everyone that loves them to suffer. To live with pain for the rest of their lives. You have one week.”
“Yes, ma’am.”
Once again, her heels clicked along the floor, this time signaling her departure. The door snapped shut.
Evander shook his head, “That is one cold-hearted bitch.”
Amelie’s POVWe spent the next few days celebrating Logan’s birthday. We had a big family breakfast with Carrington on the Friday morning before he headed out for his meeting in Miami. Then we took the family to skate at Rockefeller Center. Logan was so thrilled to be on the ice, and Eliza, although she was wobbly on her skates, was grinning from ear to ear. Logan, obviously, skated laps around everyone, well, except for Dante, who decided to join us as well. Of course, Dante’s presence caused a scene, and a bunch of groupies were screaming his name.I sat next to Dante on the bench. “Does it ever get to you, all this attention?” I asked.“It’s what I signed up for, Amelie,” Dante answered. “The positives far outweigh the negatives. Yeah, sometimes I wish I could do simple things without anyone noticing me, but the important thing is that my friends let me do regular stuff with them, and they don’t treat me like a celebrity. I appreciate you and Nathan the most. Days like this, when y
Nathan’s POVI was happy the talk with Logan went so well. I was, however, even happier when I returned to the room. I opened the door and there, perched on the edge of the bed, was Amelie, wearing a lavender push-up bra, garter belt, stockings, and tiny lacy panties. She looked so innocent and sexy at the same time, if that was possible.“Dr. Michaels, I’m here to apply for the job you posted,” Amelie said, all sultry, and then stood up. “What are your qualifications?” I asked, moving closer to her.“I’m very determined. I always go the extra mile to give the best service, and I comply with any demand,” she said, biting her lip.Fuck me.“This particular position has, well, many… positions,” I smirked.“I’m a fast learner, Sir,” Amelie purred, rolling the word ‘Sir’ off her tongue.Fuck me twice.“You’re hired,” I declared. “Get on your knees.”“Yes, sir,” Amelie said, with a glint of naughtiness in her eyes. She knelt down in front of me. Running her hands down my chest as she lowe
Amelie’s POVTiff is in California with Samuel, how very interesting. I haven’t talked to her since the wedding. With everything happening, I just haven’t had time to reach out to anyone. I’m so glad Kimmy and the gang invited themselves over tonight. Now, Nathan and I are lying in bed watching TV with Biscuit lying between us.There is a knock on the door.“Come in,” Nathan shouts. The door opened, and it’s Logan.“What’s up, Logan?” I asked.Biscuit immediately runs to the edge of the bed, Logan comes forward to give him pets, and in return, Biscuit gives him sloppy kisses.“Umm, I was just wondering if, maybe, like..” Logan stuttered out and ran his hand through his hair. “I mean, can Biscuit sleep in my room tonight?”“Absolutely, sweetie,” I told him. “Any time you want him, just let us know, OK?”“Thanks, Amelie.” Logan turns to leave with Biscuit in his arms.I lean over to Nathan. “Go with him and check if he’s OK,” I whispered.“Hold up, Logan,” Nathan said. “Let me help you
Nathan’s POVI reached the front desk, and Henrique had a worried look on his face.“It’s ok, Henrique,” I advised. “Obviously, they are watching the place.”“That’s what I was thinking,” Henrique replied. “I’m going to get a security guard to stand in the lobby. That way, no one can leave anything when the concierge is gone.”“That’s a good idea, Henrique,” I agreed.“Dr. Michaels, I’m Officer Anton,” he said, reaching out to shake my hand. “Do you want to see what the box contained?”“Yes, I do,” I said.I walked to the counter and glanced in the box. It was a picture of Amelie and Zander walking down the aisle. Their faces had been scratched out, and what looked like red paint, representing blood, was splashed across the picture. Again, the picture was accompanied by a note.Related by bloodCrimson redJoined togetherIn life and deathFuck. An actual death threat. This is getting too serious. I ran my hand through my hair. The worst thing is I had no fucking clue who was doing th
Amelie’s POVOn our way home from Carrington’s, Kimmy called.“Hey,” I said excitedly. “What’s up?”“Well, everyone thought you and Nathan needed a break. We are all coming over with pizza,” Kimmy said.“It’s a nice gesture, but you don’t need to do that,” I replied.“Nonsense, we are already on our way,” Kimmy scoffed. “I hope you don’t mind, but I invited Madison, too.”“That’s fine. We are about 10 minutes away from home, but Zander is there if you beat us,” I advised.“See you soon,” Kimmy said and hung up the phone.“Kimmy?” Nathan asked.“How did you know? I giggled.“She’s so loud,” Nathan laughed.“Well, you’ll get to hear her up close and personal tonight, they are all coming over and bringing pizza,” I smirked.“Pizza! Awesome. I’m starving,” Logan announced.“Logan, you’re always hungry,” Eliza replied. “I think you must have two bellies.”“I do, but one is to eat up little Lizzybugs,” Logan teased and grabbed Eliza’s arm and pretended to chew on it.Eliza squealed and laug
Nathan’s POVAfter the funeral, we spent the afternoon with Grandfather at his mansion. He seemed really lonely. I can’t fathom what it’s like to lose both of your children to horrific accidents. My dad and Aunt Virginia were actually really close. I remember her coming over for dinner a lot when I was a child. My mother hated her, probably because she was so happy with her life. When Aunt Virginia was over, my Mother was always nowhere to be found. Now my mother has decided that she has to be here for ‘comfort’. Quite hypocritical, I feel. Amelie was outside with the kids and Biscuit when my mother cornered me.“So, you are seriously taking Logan and Eliza in?” my mother asked. “They are not your responsibility.”“We have already taken them in,” I indicated, “and other than marrying Amelie, it’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.”“I’m just concerned if anything happens to Amelie,” Mother explained. “You would be left with raising kids by yourself.”“What do you mean if anythi
