Ethan’s pov

The first thing I noticed when I woke up was the cold air and the soreness on my body.

I turned over to my back groaning. My body aches, not from pain but from memory, every nerve remembering the way Alex held me the night before, the way he took everything I had and made me want to give more. I stare at the ceiling for a long time, feeling empty.

He didn’t stay even though I asked him to. Even though my voice begged in a way that still embarrasses me when I think about it…….he still walked away. No hesitation, no looking back. After everything that happened, after the way he made me surrender last night, how could he leave without a second thought? Maybe I was stupid to think that last night meant something more than what it was…..a reminder that my body belongs to him.

It shouldn’t hurt this much, but it does. How am I supposed to betray him after that? How can I help in destroying the man who makes me feel things I’ve never felt before?

I throw on a robe and walk into t

Ethan’s povI'm in love with a cold blooded murderer. That’s what has been going through my head since this week. I kept seeing the words in the file, the sealed reports, all the tragedies Alex allegedly had a hand in. The betrayal by William Stallin had cost Alex’s father the company leading to his suicide. I know Alex well enough to believe he isn't one to just let that type of thing go. That's one of the reasons I believe he might have been behind the tragedies…… . My father had warned me. He had told me Alex wasn’t a man anyone should trust, that behind his quiet power lays destruction. I chose to turn away from that warning. Maybe I did it because I wanted so badly to believe that the darkness in Alex was not real. Maybe I did it because I needed him to be the one good thing I found for myself. Maybe I did it because loving him was easier than admitting I was walking willingly toward a fire.If he could do all that to someone for one betrayal to his father, what then will he do

Alex’s pov“Are you here to gloat?”This new confidence of his was really starting to get on my nerves…..badly.“Of course not Alex. I just thought we should talk before the circus begins.”I gestured toward the chair opposite me. “Talk then.”He sat down slowly, crossing one leg over the other. “You look tired. Long nights? Or maybe you’re running out of allies.”“Choose your words carefully,” I scowled at him. “You’re still on my board, for now.”He smiled. “I’m aware. That’s why I came. To make sure you know I’m not your enemy, not yet.”“Your last move says otherwise.”“That was just business, you would have done the same if you were in my position.”I leaned back in my chair looking at him. He was right, this was exactly the type of thing I excel in….hostile takeovers. Under different circumstances I would have felt a bit of admiration for the man“I have a proposal for you. One that might interest you.” He says smiling.I didn’t reply. I just stared at him and he took the silenc

Alex’s pov“Three votes secured,” Marcus muttered, pacing across my office. “We need one more to tip the board.”Damian leaned on the desk, his arms crossed, watching Marcus with a lazy sort of irritation.“You’re counting Delaney as loyal? That man will sell his mother if the offer’s high enough.”“Delaney owes me,” Marcus shot back. “He wouldn’t risk—”I stood by the window, the faint reflection of the city lights flickering over the glass. Damian and Marcus’s voices blended into background noise as my mind drifted to the message I had received earlier this morning. _I’m only just beginning_. Those were the first and only words in the text. No greetings, no threats. Just a simple statement that carried the weight of a loaded gun.The man had never reached out directly to me before. Not once since he betrayed my father and I took over the company. For years, we had circled each other like predators, trading silent blows through the market, through company takeovers and through the

“Stop looking at your phone. You’re thinking of him again.”Lena’s voice pulled me back to the white hospital room. She sat up on the bed with her legs crossed like it was her living room, not a place where machines hummed beside her. She always found a way to make things feel lighter. I smiled, trying to act normal, but my thoughts were far from here.“I’m listening,” I said, placing the phone face down on the bed.“No, you’re not. You have that look again. The ‘I’m daydreaming about a certain man who ruins my sleep’ look.”Her grin was too wide for someone who had spent years in a hospital gown. I leaned back in the chair, watching her push her dark hair out of her face.“You talk too much for someone who’s supposed to be resting.”“It keeps me young,” she said, then reached for the cup of juice beside her. “So, tell me. Did you two fight again or something? You’re too quiet today.”Quiet was safer than the truth. Images of last night kept returning like flashes. Alex in the elevato

Alex’s povThe city rolled past my car’s window as I tried to drown the memory of the warehouse in whiskey. The blood, the screams, and the way the men looked when they finally told the truth. It doesn’t fade, no matter how much distance I put between myself and the place. It was necessary. They had sold me out to Victor Ballmer. They had tried to hand my company to a rival…….Its simply business……….Nothing personal. So why do my hands feel so unclean.I watched the reflection of my face in the window. Calm and unreadable face in an expensive suit still crisp. On the surface, no one would think I had just spent the evening dragging truth from cowards. They would see only Alex Veyron, CEO, strategist, investor. The man who never loses control. The mask fit too well now that sometimes I forgot there was a person under it. I took a slow breath and loosened my tie. The taste of whiskey filled the space where guilt tried to live. Why did no one ever stay in their lane? Why did men like Stal

Alex’s pov“Please, I swear, I don’t know what you are talking about!”The man strapped in the chair yells, blood dripping from his mouth and his nose as his eyes moved from Mike, who stood behind him, to Sebastian, who had just given him a blow on the nose and cheek, and to me. I sat at the table in front of him with my arms folded, looking down at him. Being back at the warehouse for this isn’t what I dreamed of doing again so soon…….why can’t people just be fucking loyal for once.“I think you are lying, Mr. Langley, and you know how I feel about liars,” I said, my voice low and calm as I tilted my head. His eyes widened in fear as he tried to struggle free from the ropes that held him in place. I watched his chest rise and fall rapidly as he looked around for an escape route but found none. This pleased me, and I couldn’t stop my smiling.“Alex, I swear to you, I didnt know anything about this. I am just as shocked as you are right now,” the man in the other chair says, his voice
