“The only way to get better at something is by consistently doing that thing.”

….

~ Alyssa ~

I stood in front of the full-length bathroom mirror for far longer than usual this time as I stared at my well-rounded baby bump. It’s so hard to believe that I have been on this pregnancy journey for six months already. And in eight to ten weeks’ time, I’d be cradling my twins in my arms.

Part of the reason I hadn’t engaged myself in a relationship in my teens was the fear of getting pregnant and having to go through the nine months of pregnancy alone and also navigating single momhood. But it turns out I didn’t totally escape that as I slowly navigated what I once dreaded.

So far… I have trained my social media algorithm to only show me content from thriving artists and single moms rather than pregnant moms with the most amazing and doting husbands.

I once thought I could handle watching content like that. But soon I found out how dejected and lost they always made me feel.

  • The Billionaire’s Nanny   “You don’t want me?”

“And I hope you know that you matter too. Far more than you think you do.”….~ Austin ~The past few hours have been tough, as I have been craving solitude more than ever. Though it was grossly impossible, as I was constantly surrounded. This time, not by memories of Joanna but by Joanna herself. “My love, should I make pumpkin soup or melon soup?” Her voice echoed from the kitchen, interrupting my train of thought. Though it’s been just a few hours, she’d found ways to make herself feel at home. Like she always does.“Pumpkin soup.” I replied, grabbing the daily newspaper from the coffee table. It’s hard to believe that it had been twenty-four hours already since I read the last one. I leaned back on the couch as I began reading the daily news, which consisted of news from the business world and the entertainment and creative industries. I’d just opened the next page when I paused… The headline was “Alyssa Stewart seen working with Jake Fredrick at his art workshop in Paris.”I

  • The Billionaire’s Nanny   He brought a girl home.

“Tiny steps made in the right direction make a heavy difference.”….~ Alyssa ~The socks I was knitting slowly came alive, one yarn after another, almost rhythmically. I stared at the half-finished blue stocking with a smile. “This will be for Kevin.” Ever since my last scan, where it was confirmed that I was indeed carrying mixed-gender twins. I have been ever so eager to create something timely for my little ones. Lydia had suggested I try knitting stockings and little cardigans for them. Though knitting hadn’t been something that came naturally to me. I had grown to love it over time.My cellphone rang, and I swiped up the answer button after seeing the caller’s ID. I had my phone set up on a mini stand, so I was able to continue knitting while on a video call. This had been Lydia’s and my daily routine ever since she found out about my pregnancy. At first, I had been hesitant to tell her. Given her loyalty to Austin and all… But she’d been nothing short of nice and support

  • The Billionaire’s Nanny   I’m your Mom, Joanna.

“Time keeps moving, and you should too.”….~ Austin ~I reread the first paragraph of the document before me for the umpteenth time. Yet, I was unable to grasp what it meant. I leaned back on my chair as a knock echoed at my door, which was followed by Jordan’s entrance. “Boss, your fifth cup of coffee.” He said, his tone tight, as he gently placed the cup of black coffee on my desk. “Thank you.” I picked up the spoon from the tray and gently stirred the contents of the cup before taking a sip.“You appear to be stressed, Boss.” Very.“Maybe you should take a one-week break from work.”“And do what actually?” I stared at him, and he tightened his lips. Work was the only thing that was going on well for me now. I hadn’t had the courage to reach out to any of my friends nor been able to respond to Lydia’s calls. They were worried about me, yeah. But the guilt I felt was far greater than anything I knew. And… anytime I look into my daughter’s eyes, I can’t help but catch a hint of

  • The Billionaire’s Nanny   Jake Fredrick

“Whatever time you wake up is your morning.”….~ Alyssa ~“You should make that place lighter, so the nose would blend perfectly well with the rest of the body.” My instructor, Jake Fredrick, said, staring closely at the image on my canvas. “Oh… thank you.” I responded with a smile. Though he was said to be quite strict with newer students of the program. So far he’d been all but nice to me. “You are welcome. How are the little ones doing?” He asked, and my face turned red. Though I had tried my best to keep my pregnancy hidden from everyone. The morning sickness that had hit me in the first trimester didn’t make it possible. Though I was grateful, it was just Jake that found me in the bathroom vomiting after classes.“They are fine.”“Any chance we’d be finding out their genders soon?” “In about a month or two.” I replied. “That’s great. Are you excited to know?” “Maybe.” I smiled. “I’ve got a hunch of what their genders are, so finding out from the ultrasound results would sim

  • The Billionaire’s Nanny   “She left...”

“Maybe we are not meant to have all the answers. Maybe we are meant to simply trust in the one who knows it all.”….~ Austin ~I noted something different about the house the second I stepped into it. Unlike days ago, when it had been a beacon of hope and laughter. This current atmosphere feels dull and lifeless. I found my way into the room I shared with Alyssa, and my heart sank when I caught sight of the wedding ring on the divorce papers I had placed on the bedside table yesterday.I hadn’t been thinking straight when I asked my lawyer to draw up some divorce papers. He was stunned at my request and hesitated. Probably because he hadn’t expected me to move on so quickly from Joanna and obviously didn’t expect me to annul my months-old marriage. But I did. I opened the document, and as expected… her signature was there. As neat as day. The wardrobe called out to me, and I ran towards them… opening their little doors frantically. I took a step back when the empty lockers star
