LOGINEmma's Pov
I looked at the Carter Group building with tears in my eyes, I was about moving my eyes away, when I noticed Logan. He was standing by the window, his hands in his pocket and a smile gently crossing his lips. Wait could he be behind this, I thought to myself, without thinking twice I dashed into the Carter Group building. “Ma, you can't just barge in here anyhow.” That was Logan's secretary trying to stop me from entering Logan's office, but with all her efforts and struggles, I managed to reach Logan's door, I pushed the door aggressively, flinging it open. “Was it your doing?” I asked him, immediately I entered his office. “You may return Diane,” said Logan to his secretary. “Alright sir,” she replied, closing the door behind her. “Answer me, was that your doing?. Did you send those men to my house?.” I asked, looking at him with eyes almost burning from anger. “What if I told you yes,” he replied. “Are you that heartless?” I asked him, why would you even do such a thing?. For a second silence filled the room, we just stayed there looking into each other's house. “I just instructed them to deliver a reminder,” he said finally. “You call that a reminder, no Logan that was a threat, a threat to my family especially to me.” “Wait” I said, stopping to think, “was this your plan all along, to put me in a position where I have no other option but to accept your demands.” “It wasn't the plan and it's not like you don't have a choice,” he said. “What choice, what choice, you mean just sitting down and watching my family lose everything.” “Well I didn't say that, you did,” he replied, ignoring my eyes. “You know what, I'll do it,” I said. “Sorry, I didn't hear you,” he said, putting a hand behind his left ear as if to listen to me. “I said I'll do it,” I screamed at him. “Okay, okay I heard that," he said, walking over to his desk. He opened a drawer and brought out a document titled marriage contract. “Read it and sign, you may sit down and take your time," he said, opening his computer and getting back to work. I opened the contract and I couldn't believe my eyes, how on earth did he even think of all these clauses, I thought to myself. There were 10 clauses here. They must live together immediately after marriage. They must share the same bedroom. Public display of affection which includes the partners exchanging kisses when necessary. No dating other people through the contract period Emma must always accompany Logan to business events. They must eat dinner together with Grandpa and family every evening. They must not do anything to embarrass the other partner in public. Emma isn't permitted to work during this period, Logan will pay her a monthly salary twice any company's pay. I just had to stop there, I couldn't finish reading it. “What the hell Logan, this is ridiculous especially the kissing aspect, how can we exchange kisses without any feelings attached? and what do you mean we can't date another partner?.” “If you read number seven then you'll understand number three, cause how can you date someone while being married.” “What if the public gets to know, it will be a stain to my reputation and if it was you, your already damaged reputation will only get worse,” he explained. “Also if we went for an interview and we were asked to kiss, if we refuse won't our marriage be doubted.” I thought about this for a moment and it did make sense. “Alright” I said and signed the contract. I signed both documents, gave him his own and kept mine. "Now that you've signed, it's only right that I fulfill my end of the bargain,” he said to me. “What do you mean?” I asked him as he opened another drawer and brought out a document. “Open it,” he told me. I collected it and opened it and to my amusement it was the lease to my dad's house. “Sign and it's yours,” he said to me. I looked at him, feeling lots of emotion at the same time, I was happy, but also crying at the same time. “Thank you,” I said, finally finding the right words. I closed the document without signing and stood up. “Wait a minute” he said, he brought a car key and handed it to me. “That's your dad's car, it's parked down stairs, now I owe you nothing,” he said to me. I looked at him, and for the first time that day, I didn't see a wicked man. I just saw an honest man who fulfilled his end of the bargain. “Also tomorrow I'll come pick you up so we can change your wardrobe so you'll look like you are a part of the Carter family,” he added before I could say a word. “No need for that, you've done enough already.” I replied smiling. “Hello, I am not doing it for you, it's for publicity, just a little thing to spark rumors online before our engagement news gets announced.” he said as if to wake me back to reality and it did just that. “I knew it, for a second, I thought you were a gentleman, see you tomorrow then,” I said, walking out of his office. I went downstairs and like he said the car was already parked there, thank God I could drive. I entered the car, switched on the engine and made my way home. On the way all I could think of was how my parents were going to react to all that happened today. At home I didn't know if my parents were now asleep, even though it was just past eight, but I didn't want to disturb them so I stepped out of the car to open the gate myself, after that I drove in and then went to close the gate. “How did you get this car?” I was scared for a moment as I jumped forward, turned around and saw my dad, arms folded akimbo, looking at me as if trying to read his answers. “Dad, I can explain,” I simply replied. "Yes girl, you have a lot of explaining to do cause I noticed my frozen account was suddenly unfrozen, so you better start talking about what you did,” he asked again but this time more strictly. “Can we move to the sitting room?” I requested. He simply nodded and we moved to the sitting room where mum was already sitted, it seems they've both been waiting for me. I dropped the house lease on the centre table. Dad took it and opened it, immediately he turned and looked at me. “Emma White, what on earth did you do?" he asked me. “I signed a marriage contract with Logan Carter,” I blurted out suddenly. “What did you say,” asked my dad, jumping on his feet immediately he heard what i said. The glass cup in mum's hand fell and shattered on the floor. Mum covered her mouth with her hands, and dad's face immediately went pale. Oh no what have I gotten myself into? What next?
Logan's POV We walked in the eatery and found our way to a seat beside the window.I loved sitting beside windows at cafes and restaurants, the view is what makes eating out special, I thought as I drew out a sit for Emma and went to sit myself.“Thanks,” she said. While eating, I looked out through the window and I saw someone come down from a car.It was Melissa, my ex, we had broken up for almost 5 years now but everything I see her, I always feel a rush of emotions.Emma noticed me gazing out of the window and tapped me, I jilted a bit coming out of my thoughts. She looked out through the window and saw a woman locking her door and walking towards the entrance.“Do you know her she asked,” turning to me.“Yes,” I replied and continued scooping my food into my mouth.Emma dropped her spoon and crossed her arms on the table.Seems you guys have an experience together, so aren't you going to share. The door opened almost immediately and Melissa walked in, she walked towards a seat c
Emma's Pov I woke up the next morning to the sound of my ringtone.I picked up my phone, squinting my eyes to see who the caller was, and it was my mum.I answered the call while sitting up.“Good morning mum,”“Good morning Emma, please just get out of bed right now and come downstairs.”“What for mum?” I asked.“What do you mean, what for?, Emma you're getting married in three days, I know you guys agreed on a small preparation, but we still need to plan some things.”“Alright mum, I'll be down in a minute,” I said then dropped the call.I threw the blanket aside and stood up from the bed.I then went into the bathroom to brush my teeth before I headed downstairs.Climbing down the stairs, I saw mum flipping through a magazine and other magazines were scattered around her, covering almost all parts of the chair.“What is this mum?” I asked as I arranged the magazines into a bulk.“Nothing much Emma, just some magazines, I am trying to choose the perfect wedding shoes for my princes
Logan's POV“Grandpa!”My voice echoed through the house as I rushed over to him.Emma had caught him before he could land on the floor as she was sitting next to him.I rushed over to Emma and lifted grandpa from her hands, “get the car key,” I screamed to no one in particular.Miss Grace came out, saw the situation and immediately ran to bring my key.I looked at Emma and I saw the panic on her face, she was scared out of her skin.We rushed out and placed grandpa into the car then, Emma entered resting his head on her lap.“Miss Grace, you're now in charge of the house, I'll contact Nathan and Julian but you also should try contacting them to inform them about what happened,” I said as I walked over to the driver's seat.I sat in the car, closing the door while starting the engine.Few hours later We were now at the hospital, Nathan and Julian rushed in.“I heard what happened bro, said Nathan as he gave me a hug, don't worry, the old man is going to be okay,” he said tapping my b
Emma's Pov The alarm on my phone went off at exactly seven AM.I groaned as I stretched my arms above my head as I stood up from my bed.Today was the day I'll be meeting Logan's grandpa. I know he said his grandpa would surely accept me but I couldn't help but make an effort.I stood in front of my wardrobe for almost ten minutes not knowing what to wear.“What do I even wear?” I muttered. The door opened and mum walked in.“I guess you're not able to decide on what to wear,” she asked as she sat on the edge of my bed.“Good morning mum,” I said, smiling as I walked over to her to give her a hug.“Morning my dear,” she said, giving me a peck on my cheeks.“As I said the other time, you must have been confused on what to wear cause I heard when your alarm rang and you didn't come downstairs,” said my mum as she walked over to my wardrobe.“Yes mum, I've been standing before my wardrobe for almost fifteen minutes but I just can't decide on one cloth.”“I think the pink gown would do,”
Logan's Pov The rest of the conference went by quickly, it seemed we convinced the reporters with our kiss as they asked just a few more questions and we rounded everything up. “Finally” I murmured, as we stepped out of the hall. “I never knew answering questions could be this stressful,” said Emma as we stepped down the stairs. “You did great today, you handled yourself well," I said casually. She raised an eye brow “Was that a compliment?” she asked. “Not exactly, I am just stating facts.” “There you go again,” she said, raising her head while rolling her eyes. “What?” "It seems you do find it difficult to admit when you're being nice to people, and you never compliment someone straight forward," she said. "Well I wasn't being nice, and complimenting someone is no big deal, just that most things you see as compliments are mere facts, I am just saying what I think." “You see it as saying your mind, I see it as fact,” she said smiling. By now, we were now a
Logan's Pov “Next phase for what?” I asked, suddenly showing up behind him. “Ohhh Jesus!, he exclaimed, holding his chest and breathing heavily. “Logan, you scared me,” he said, smiling while trying to catch his breath. “I asked a question Nathan, next phase for what and who were you even talking to?” I asked, raising my voice slightly. “No one Logan, no one important, it was just one of our project managers.” “So what was he supposed to do but sent someone else,” I asked. “He was supposed to present a proposal to a client but he sent someone else,” he said, taking a deep breath. “Which project?.” “The green valley project,” he answered, taking a minute pause as if to think of what to say. I knew that project, it was one of the projects we've been working on for a while now. “So what phase were you talking about?” “Well the client rejected the first proposal,” Nathan explained, “so now that the first phase has failed we need to move on to the second phase.” “And what's w
