INICIAR SESIÓNEmma's Pov
“Mum, are you alright,” I asked her.
“Yes I am fine, but what did you just say,” she asked.
“Am sorry mum, sorry dad, it was the only way I could have saved us and this house.” I answered.
“Then you should have left it,” added my mum, “signing a deal with anyone from the Carter family is the same as selling your soul to the devil,” she continued.
“Mum, it can't be that bad,” I protested.
"I'm sorry Dad,” I said facing him, “when mum called this evening, crying I lost my mind for a minute,” I said near tears.
“See daughter,” he said, finally calming down,he stood up from where he was seated and sat near me.
“I know how much you care for your mum and I, but you shouldn't be entering a loveless marriage because of us.”
“Not at all dad, it's just for a year, after that we'll get to keep the house. Also within this one year no one will disturb us about the loans, giving us more time to find the money.” I replied immediately before he could over think things.
“Also during the marriage period, he'll be paying me a good sum of money every month and maybe after that one year we might have gathered enough money to redeem the company.”
My father's face lit up at the sound of this, but the happiness soon melted away.
“I understand, daughter, but not at the cost of you pausing your life for a year.”
“Dad, I am not pausing my life or anything so please let's forget about it.”
“The best thing that ever happened to us was having you as our daughter,” said my mum, she came and sat beside me and dad, we all hugged, smiling.
“So dad, you have your house back so please sign here,” I said to him, handing the document over to him and pointing to a spot he was supposed to sign.
He looked at me with heavy looking eyes filled with tears, he signed the paper and pulled it tightly to his chest.
“Thanks Emma,” he said, smiling.
“You're welcome Dad,” I replied, grinning from ear to ear.
We talked for a few more minutes, mum served my food and I ate dinner.
Logan's Pov
The day went just as I expected it, I now had a fiancee and now I could finally give Grandpa some good news.
It was past nine and I was just getting home. I am sure Grandpa must still be awake waiting for me, I thought to myself as I drove into the Carter compound.
I walked into the sitting room and just as I expected, there was Grandpa waiting for me.
“Welcome home son,” said Grandpa, who was resting on a sofa.
Since mine and Nathan's parents died 15 years ago, Grandpa had been the only family member that truly cared for me like my parents did.
Waiting for me has been Grandpa's routine for as long as I can remember. Even before my parents died, back then they always told Grandpa he was being soft on me, and till date Grandpa never stopped waiting for me at the door.
With my Grandpa I could be considered a kid or even a baby.
“Hello Grandpa,” I said, giving him a hug.
“How long have you been waiting? I have told you that anytime you see I am running late you can just go to bed, what if I am stuck in a meeting and can't make it home that night.”
“Then I'll stand there till the next morning waiting to receive you,” he replied.
We both laughed at his joke, though it wasn't really one, I knew that was what Grandpa could do.
I just couldn't imagine life without him, a tear dropped from my eye without me even noticing.
You're thinking about it again right he asked, knowing fully well I was thinking about life without him again.
“Am sorry Grandpa, I just couldn't help it,” I said, giving him a hug.
That's why you need a wife, you need someone to keep you company while I am gone, he said.
“About that Grandpa,” I said. I want to tell you something.
“I'll be getting married soon, I have a fiance already.”
“Wow, that's the best news I have heard today, grandson, you just made my day,” he said smiling.
“I am happy I did Grandpa,” I replied.
“So can I see a pic or something,” he asked.
Oh shit, I just remembered I didn't have any picture of Emma, what was I to tell him now, I thought to myself.
“Uhmm.. Grandpa, I'll show you tomorrow, you no I don't like taking pics, so because of me we barely take any pics.”
“No problem dr, but tomorrow you must show me a picture of the girl who stole my grandson's heart or maybe bring her to see me on Sunday," he requested.
I thought about it for a moment.
“No problem Grandpa, I'll bring her over.” I replied.
Someone should bring Logan's food, said Grandpa to no one in particular, but almost immediately, a maid came out and served me my dinner.
“Dinner is served sir,” she said to us and walked away.
We moved to the dining table and I started eating, while still talking to Grandpa about my day.
“So you're home brother, welcome back,” greeted Nathan, my elder brother.
He was seven years older than me, yet we are so free around each other that we talk casually.
“Thanks bro, where's your wife,” I asked.
“Ohh she's in bed already,” he replied.
“So how was work?” He asked, drawing out a seat and sitting beside me.
“Work was fine,” I responded.
“Nathan, can you believe your brother finally has a fiance?” asked Grandpa.
“Really Logan, who's this girl you've been hiding from your brother, tell me about her,” asked Nathan.
“Well ..” I took a pause recalling all that happened today.
“Bro all I can say is that she's a feisty one and she always stands up for people she loves,” I replied casually.
“Like you right,” he replied laughing, "Grandpa, someone is really in love.”
They both laughed at me, I just kept eating my meal.
“So which family is she from?” asked Nathan.
I was expecting that question, but not this fast I thought to myself.
“She's from the whites,” I replied, paying all my attention to the plate in front of me.
“What do you mean by the whites?, if it's the same whites I know, he continued. Then I am sorry,
bro but you haven't found a wife yet,” said Nathan with a harsh and serious tone.
This marriage will never happen.
Logan's Pov The rest of the conference went by quickly, it seemed we convinced the reporters with our kiss as they asked just a few more questions and we rounded everything up.“Finally” I murmured, as we stepped out of the hall.“I never knew answering questions could be this stressful,” said Emma as we stepped down the stairs.“You did great today, you handled yourself well," I said casually. She raised an eye brow “Was that a compliment?” she asked.“Not exactly, I am just stating facts.”“There you go again,” she said, eye raising her head while rolling her eyes.“What?”"It seems you do find it difficult to admit when you're being nice to people, and you never compliment someone straight forward," she said. "Well I wasn't being nice, and complimenting someone is no big deal, just that most things you see as compliments are mere facts, I am just saying what I think."“You see it as saying your mind, I see it as fact,” she said smiling.By now, we were now at the car, the report
Logan's Pov “Next phase for what?” I asked.“Ohhh Jesus!.“Logan, you scared me,” he said, smiling.“I asked a question Nathan, next phase for what and who were you even talking to?” I asked, raising my voice slightly.“No one Logan, no one important, it was just one of our project managers.” “So what was he supposed to do but sent someone else,” I asked.“He was supposed to present a proposal to a client but he sent someone else,” he said, taking a deep breath.“Which project?.”“The green valley project,” he answered.I knew that project, it was one of the projects we've been working on for a while now.“So what phase were you talking about?”“Well the client rejected the first proposal,” Nathan explained, “so now that the first phase has failed we need to move on to the second phase.”“And what's with all these questions bro, did something happen today,” he asked.“Nahh bro nothing important, I think I am just being paranoid due to stress, I'll go to bed now.”“You should bro,” h
Emma's Pov For a second I just stood there motionless, with water dripping from my hair, I used my hand to wipe water away from my face. The entire restaurant was now looking at us, with their phones out taking pictures and recording videos.“What was that for?” asked Logan.“Mr Logan, I am here to save you, I received information about this woman, saying she has something on you and that's why she's forcing you to marry her.”“But don't worry, I don't care what that is, I'll make sure to free you from her grips,” she said as she reached out for Logan's glass of water. But before she could throw it, a large hand grabbed her wrist.“Don't you dare lay another finger on my fiancee,” said Logan with a possessive and icy tone, releasing the woman's hand suddenly and that sent her crashing to the floor.“But Mr Logan, she's just a shameless woman, who's trying to trap you with marriage so as to save her bankrupted family.”My heart skipped, it was true my family was bankrupt but who would
Logan's Pov “Calm down bro,” I said to Nathan trying to calm him down, not understanding his sudden outburst.“What problem do you have with the Whites,” I asked looking confused.“Yes Nathan,” added Grandpa, “what's wrong with the whites”His anger suddenly changed into a smile though his eyes were visibly still full of anger.“Nothing Grandpa, but bro am just looking out for you,” he replied trying to hide his displeased tone.“You know the whites have been our rival in the construction industry for years now, how are you sure that they didn't plant their daughter in your life so as to drag us down?”“You know misfortune just befell them,” he continued, "they must be looking for who to vent their anger on, they must be seeking revenge.”If I hadn't asked for the marriage and made her sign, I might have believed my brother.“Bro I understand where you're coming from,” I replied after a long pause.“See I trust Emma,” I continued, “and she loves me, so she is not after me for revenge

Emma's Pov I looked at the Carter Group building with tears in my eyes, I was about moving my eyes away, when I noticed Logan. He was standing by the window, his hands in his pocket and a smile gently crossing his lips.Wait could he be behind this, I thought to myself, without thinking twice I dashed into the Carter Group building.“Ma, you can't just barge in here anyhow.”That was Logan's secretary trying to stop me from entering Logan's office, but with all her efforts and struggles, I managed to reach Logan's door, I pushed the door aggressively, flinging it open.“Was it your doing?” I asked him, immediately I entered his office.“You may return Diane,” said Logan to his secretary.“Alright sir,” she replied, closing the door behind her.“Answer me, was that your doing?. Did you send those men to my house?.” I asked, looking at him with eyes almost burning from anger.“What if I told you yes,” he replied.“Are you that heartless?” I asked him, why would you even do such a thing
