“How can I get pregnant?”
Jaxson choked in shock and coughed incessantly after hearing what I said.“I mean, how did they get to the conclusion that I was pregnant?” I tried to clarify myself as it seems that he didn't appear to expect that question. “I don't think my stomach is huge enough to fool you into thinking I'm pregnant, is it?”It just seemed like what had happened previously flashed back to me, and everything that is happening now gradually made sense to me.“Wait…” I grumbled.“What is it?” Jaxson asked aloud as he instantly jolted from his seat. “What? Did you remember something? Are you really pregnant-”“No!” I snapped, interrupting him. “I'm not pregnant, Jaxson. Okay? How can I be pregnant with just a-” I came to a halt, unsure what to say because I don't want to remind him of our kiss.“Then what are you trying to get out of your mind?” He replied, with a frown on his face as his chest moved upwards waiting for my response.“Did they speculate that I'm pregnant after I was on the verge of vomiting in the meeting?” I asked, and noticed Jaxson contemplating for a while before nodding at me. “I knew it!” My voice reverberated across the room as I exclaimed. “It was right after you introduced me to them as your wife that I felt my stomach tightening and my gut whirling. Perhaps what they assumed was we should get married as soon as possible because we are expecting a child.”Jaxson just gave me a scowl. “How can things be so messed up…” he pondered quietly.“Then, in the restroom, two employees noticed me stroking my stomach, which may also have sparked their pregnancy speculations!” I yelled in panic. “That's what the two of them are talking about that is now scattered among the people in your company. And that's certainly the reason why, as I walk to your office, every single person's eye is fixed on me."We lost in the depths of our thoughts as silence suddenly engulfed us.That explains why their stares at me are so extreme.I'm afraid what's on their minds right now is that I was the one who caused Daniella and Jaxson to split up. That their marriage could not continue just because Jaxson had accidentally got me pregnant. That's why he decided to marry me so quickly.“Oh my god…” I grumbled. “How could things have turned out this way?”Perhaps Jaxson is already a vile person and a cheater in their eyes. Daniella will then be the victim and receive all of the sympathy.“I just want to make it obvious that it wasn't my fault that I felt sick earlier.” I defended myself before giving Gunther another scowl. “It was your fault. If you hadn't pushed me to eat so many leaves, I wouldn't have felt sick in front of those people. So if there's anyone to blame here, it's you.” I pointed fiercely at Gunther and then slowly slid my index finger toward Jaxson's seat. “And, you.”"What are you talking about?” Jaxson murmured, astonished, as I returned the grimace in my face.“Hello? Do you really need to ask? Aren't you the one who told this man to bring me a bunch of plants and fruits instead of plain water?” I replied, furious, because every time I remember how horrible those leaves taste, a wave of irritation washes over me. “Gunther, on the other hand, even though he knew I couldn't handle it any longer, he nevertheless forced me.”“Could you perhaps also explain to Mr. Madrigal, why you were so determined to finish the food?” Gunther fired back instantly.I was going to say anything when Jaxson barged in.“What the hell is going on here?” He clamored. “I don't recall asking you to bring her some leafy greens for lunch. Didn't I tell you to go ask her what she'd like for lunch and then get it for her?”As I became more agitated, my nose swelled, and my eyes grew slightly bigger.“You mean you made the decision on your own?” I retorted, glaring at Gunther. He chose to remain silent and did not respond, which infuriated me even more. He, not Jaxson, was the one who tried to turn me into a goat by stuffing those leaves into my mouth.“But, why did you say it was entirely Jaxson's idea?” I yelled loudly to him. “I knew the amount of food was excessive, that I was on the brink of bursting. And also, you said it was because Jaxson told you that I should eat healthy. I just can’t understand why you lied to me?”I caught a glimpse of Jaxson's tactful stares as they darted between me and Gunther. His eyes twitched as his stare became more deeply centered on me.“Gun?” He called in with a tone of voice I hadn't heard before. “Go outside,” he said, which confused me.I scowled at Jaxson. I couldn't tell what he was thinking or why he abruptly kicked Gunther out of the room.As Gunther walks out the door, I get the feeling Jaxson's piercing looks haven't let go of me.“I will clarify things to the people of Ruegold after it cools down. But for the time being, let us refrain from speaking and let them think as they please.” Jaxson stated coldly, with his eyes devoid of emotion.“But what if you turn out to be a bad person in the eyes of the public? Jax, you're not to blame for them. They are the ones who did something wrong to you.” I forbade him.I'm not sure if being silent and not speaking was the best move he could have made because it could have worsened the situation.“Things are fired up at the moment, so let the issue burn with it. Besides, it can help us in some ways.”I didn't quite understand what he said so I just kept quiet.“With the people thinking we are expecting a child just as Lance and his fiance, even without confirming it, we are already one step forward.”“But... doesn't it seem like you're just making things worse?” I asked, my voice concerned. “What if it backfires and they start looking for your successor or a baby bump months later? Jax, I can’t do anything further for you.”“Having a child with you will never happen. Don’t worry. I’ll never ask you for that. ”As I fiddled with my feet, I nibbled my lips. All I could do was stare at Jaxson and his workspace from every angle.I just sat silently in front of him, while he focused his attention on his laptop and papers that I had observed were being signed by him after he read them.I let out a long sigh before leaning slightly on the plush sofa and laying myself down. I'm not sure how many more hours I'll have to wait before the wedding planner arrives, so I'm becoming bored. I'm stuck at Jaxson's office with nothing to do.I took up a newspaper from the small table in front of me and opened it, hoping to find a way to pass the time. This is better for me though, I reckon, than to be with Jaxson's mother again. If the only people I could spend time with inside their mansion were Aunt Elsie and Lovely, it would be even easier for me because they appear to be interesting and good people.I'd also like to get to know Gunther better because he's always around me, but it doesn't seem like it will
“Mr. Chairman, the wedding coordinator, and the bridal consultant have arrived. Is it the right time for me to let them in?”After the phone that was placed on the left side front of him rang, I was interrupted from making fun of Jaxson. He turned up the volume of the telephone so that maybe I could hear what the man on the other line was saying too.“Yes, you can let them in.” Jaxson replied sparingly to the man, while his gaze remained fixed on mine.I wanted to chuckle when he choked earlier because of the unexpected words that came out of my mouth. That was also not something I expected. But I believe Jaxson is indirectly asking me out on a date. What else was it called if it was just the two of us and we were going out to eat? Am I right? Or am I losing my mind?“Stop giving me those grins, Cattleya.”My grin widened even more as I heard him speak again. It's because his face can't be painted right now due to the weird expression showing on his face.“But at least now I'm not just
After the exhausting planning for our wedding, I find myself alone inside Jaxson's office then again.I'm not sure whether my responses to the wedding coordinator are completely right because I'm not familiar with any of them. I just chose whatever sounds familiar to me. Then I pondered why there were far too tiny food portions and asked if there was a whole meal that could fill the entire plate because the servings that they would give to the guest appeared to be for a taste test only. They were taken aback by what I said and looked at me as if they couldn't believe it, but they pledged to show me other options tomorrow. The wedding design I chose was simply based on what I personally preferred. I'm just not sure if Jaxson will like it as much as I do. But, as he had said, it is up to me to make the decision, so perhaps he will not be upset with those I choose. I can't wait to see how he reacts on the wedding day. The only thing that mattered to him was that we could get through the w
“What the hell...?” I grumbled beneath my breath. What kind of debauchery are they committing? I'm sure that they know exactly where they should be doing this. At this point, Jaxson should have realized that these two were doing this on purpose to sabotage his strategy. Perhaps if Jaxson chose to get drunk today, I would no longer look after him and instead get really frustrated with him.Even though I know he's hurt, he'll make a fool of himself if he gets hurt by what they're doing. Obviously they are just doing that for the show. As the two give each other greater pleasure, I shut my eyes in disgust.I gently pulled Jaxson's arm, hoping to get his attention in some way. After all, this is why I came to his workplace. I had no idea what was going on around me or what Jaxson's reaction was because I kept my eyes shut. When I felt my hand stretch as Jaxson continued to walk, my eyes widened. I attempted to look for Jaxson's eyes to look at it, but I couldn't see his face. When we
I wasn't expecting Jaxson to be popular not only at his company but also everywhere. And I have officially confirmed it after being met with glances as soon as we walk inside the mall. There were also security guards who approached us and offered Jaxson if he wanted security for safe shopping and lodging in their mall. However, he declined it, as I predicted. I am starting to feel conscious of how people gape at us whenever we pass by them. I'm not sure if it was because they know Jaxson and he is famous, or it’s his appearance and how he shines out in a crowd that they are acting this way. Honestly, I can't even deny that this man is quite attractive. “Wait,” I murmured meekly to the man beside me, who was still grasping my hand and the laptop he had gotten for me in the other. “Am I the only person in this country who doesn't know who you are? How come people know you everywhere? You're not a celebrity, slash a model, slash a chairperson… Are you?” I heard Jaxson's feeble scoff,
“Go grab yours,” I urged quietly to Jaxson as I lifted a tray full of food. But he just stared at me, puzzled, as if he didn't get what I was saying. “Why are you the one carrying that, Cattleya?” He asked. “Of course, Jax, no one else is going to do it for us. Now, hurry up and carry that so we can find a seat and make the customers next to us get their food too.” “Are you serious...?” He mumbled as his eyes shifted behind us, seeing the line stretched clear around the corner, so he had no choice but to slowly approach the tray of food and gently carry it as I said. “Can’t I just call some staff and ask for assistance?” I started laughing quietly because of how Jaxson ended up looking now. I tried my hardest earlier to contain my laughter so he wouldn't be embarrassed, but I couldn't help myself and burst out laughing at the way he carried the tray with a puzzled expression on his face. I caught a quick look at people secretly snapping photos of him and also trying to hide their
“Hey, you'll end up harming your throat if you do that. Bottoms up, this isn't an alcoholic beverage to swallow all at once-” I was interrupted by knocks on the window. I saw a little boy as I turned my head on my left side. The baby girl we met earlier was exactly the same age as this one. Why are we being targeted by children today? When the boy gestured as if begging for food, and rubbing his stomach, my heart was broken into pieces. I shifted my gaze to Jaxson to see his reaction, but he was just staring straight back at the child. I couldn't tell what was on his mind, so I just waited for him to do anything. I searched for any food on the table and found a piece of burger that I haven’t touched yet. I took it in my hands and began to rise from my seat, wanting to give it to the little boy through the back door. Jaxson surprised me when he stood up and began to walk straight to the back door near us because there's also an exit here that is closer to the boy outside. “Hey,” J
My feet were propped up on the bed's end seat. I just realized I haven't gotten any sleep since last night. I guess I unconsciously drank a drum of coffee because I didn't feel drowsy at all. I'm not really sure why I've remained awake and active till now. After going home from the mall, I'm currently here in Jaxson’s room. He had been silent while we were driving home. I kept asking him questions and assuring him that we will go back there and see if we can treat the child next time because he looked so disappointed. Jaxson was sitting on the sofa near the bedside table with tons of documents and a laptop in front of him, as I rested on his bed and watched him. “It's far too late, and you're still at it. You've just gotten home from work, yet you're still working nonstop instead of resting. You are so dedicated,” I commented. But Jaxson didn't even bother to look at me as he sipped his coffee and kept his eyes fixed on the papers. I was a bit disappointed, so I just decided t
