Deeply Engraved

It was a dark and gloomy day. At that time, he was waiting outside Angie’s house day and night, but there was no news of her. Then, after many years, on the day of his marriage with Avery, she returned with a body riddled with scars.

Eva sat on the sofa with a cold expression. Tammy pulled the corner of his clothes and asked in a low voice, "What exactly happened to you two? Avery drove away. "

"Which way did she go? I'll go find her. " Blake frowned, he picked up the car keys and ran out, completely ignoring his mother's complaints.

The sky gradually darkened as neon lights flashed on both sides of the road. Blake’s car drove very fast, and finally found Avery’s little beetle at the end of the road. The car crashed into a tree branch, and the window of the car shattered. His heart was thumping hard, he stepped on the throttle and parked the car, then got off the car in a hurry to check.

The door to the car was opened, but there was no one inside, while Avery was curled up, sitting under a street lamp at the side. She raised her head and blankly stared at the sky. She didn't even blink her eyes. She was completely immersed in her own world. No one knew what was going on in her head.

"Are you hurt?" Blake anxiously hugged her, and only after seeing that there were no injuries on her body did he finally relax.

When the temperature dropped at night, Avery’s body was cold.

Blake hugged her as if he was holding a sculpted ice sculpture. "It's a good thing you crashed into the front passenger seat, otherwise you would have been lying in the hospital by now."

"…"

"Scared? Let me change the car for you. It's not safe if the car is too small. "

"…"

No matter what Blake said, Avery did not react. Her clear eyes were glazed over and there was not the slightest bit of light in them.

"Avery, what's wrong?" Blake propped up her pale little face with his palm.

Avery looked at him, her pitch-black eyes finally focused. Her thin lips trembled, and her voice was even colder than her body as she asked, “Who is Angie to you?"

Blake frowned as he stared at her. He pursed his lips and did not say a word, the look in his eyes as deep as the ocean.

"Who is Angie to you?" she repeated stubbornly.

"A stranger. Why are you mentioning her?” Blake replied indifferently, but he subconsciously averted his gaze, no longer looking into her eyes.

There was a long period of silence, and then, Avery left his embrace. She stood in front of him, her back to him. She nodded with difficulty, her eyes filled with bitter tears.

If he said he was an unrelated person, she would be willing to believe him. If he said he was lying, then she would lie for the rest of her life. At least this way, they could continue all the way to the end of their lives.

Blake quietly looked at her back. Her back was thin, with a sense of loneliness and desolation. His heart inexplicably throbbed a few times.

Blake took off his jacket and placed it on her shoulder, before hugging his chest with his clothes. He rested his chin on her head and let out a long sigh, ”Avery, let's go home."

Avery shook her head indifferently, leaving his warm embrace, she turned and walked to the Land Rover that was parked by the side of the road, "Take me back to the hospital, I'll be on duty tonight."

Blake’s car drove very smoothly, there was not a lot of traffic on the road at night, and his driving speed was not considered slow.

Avery turned her head to look out the window, and the scenery on both sides of the road started to change, like a movie about a fast-moving movie.

The car slowly stopped in front of the main entrance of the hospital. She indifferently took off his jacket and returned it to Blake. "Explain to me.”

"It's okay, it's my fault." Noab gave a gentle smile as he covered her cold little hands with his own, "Avery, have a snack when you're free, go and check your body if you have time."

Avery suddenly flung his hand away and coldly shifted her gaze away. It was as if he was infected by a bug and she avoided it in fear. “Why don’t you accompany me?” She realized how ridiculous she was. Blake was the dignified CEO of the season, and she was a woman who had just miscarried for him!

The atmosphere inside the carriage instantly turned cold, Blake stared at her pale white face, and the mocking smile on her lips became even more dazzling. After a moment of silence, he once again clasped his hands together with her. His voice was deep and gentle, as pleasant to hear as a bass cello. "Alright, I'll get my secretary to set up a schedule for the next two days. I'll check it out with you."

Avery bit her lips, and without saying anything, she opened the door and got off the car.

Blake watched as her figure quickly disappeared in front of the hospital's gate. He formed a fist with his hand and smashed it onto the steering wheel in front of him. He fretfully fished out a cigarette and took a few deep breaths. Smoke filled the narrow space. He leaned against the back of the chair and frowned even more.

How was he going to explain it to Avery? He urgently wanted a child, in hopes that he could resolve all the conflicts and allow them to have a connection that he would never be able to break. Oh, forever? If they were so persistent, could there be an eternity between them?

Blake was in a dilemma like never before.

On the other side, Avery pushed open the door to the infirmary. Two nurses on duty were busy preparing medicine in a fluster.

"Doctor Foster, why are you here?" a nurse asked in surprise.

Tonight was obviously not Avery’s night shift, she just did not know how to face Blake and made an excuse.

"Doctor Foster, it's great that you're back. The doctors on duty are doing surgery, but another patient was just delivered to the emergency room. The patient doesn’t look good. Hurry up and go take a look." The other nurse pulled Avery out and did not give her time to change into a white coat.

The long corridor of the hospital was dead silent at night. The doctor in the emergency room was currently examining the patient, and on the bench outside, a tall and handsome man was sitting with his head lowered, causing Avery to be unable to see his current expression. However, that figure was extremely familiar, it was someone that had once been deeply engraved in her heart.
