Tiffany stared at him like he had just grown an extra head. She walked slowly toward me, then turned to Emris. I knew what that slow walk meant. It meant that she needed answers.

But unfortunately, words couldn’t form in my mouth. Not even a sound. I just stared.

When Emris noticed I wasn’t going to speak up, he stepped in. “Hi, you must be Arielle’s roommate.” He brought out his hand to shake hers. “I’m Emris, Arielle’s friend.”

Tiffany ignored him and moved close

Arielle I froze completely. For some reason, the news hit me harder than I expected. Joel’s reaction was even worse. “What in the bloody hell happened?” I asked in disbelief. Tessa exhaled heavily before answering. “According to Summer, Tiffany helped Blake rob her boss after she got fired. The same boss, by the way.”My eyes widened. “What?” Joel asked sharply. “What do you mean by fired? We talked three days ago.”“Look, maybe we shouldn’t talk about her right–““No,” I cut in quickly, turning to Tessa. “Keep talking.”Tessa blinked slowly. “Tiffany got fired two days ago,” she explained calmly. “Apparently, Darius actually meant it when he threatened her. After she lost the job, she needed money. Blake came up with the idea to rob her boss.”I stared blankly. “And now she’s in jail while Blake disappeared.”Of course she did. “Wait–““That’s not even the worst part,” Tessa added quietly. There was more?“This one’s about you.”I frowned instantly. “She’s been telling peo

Arielle They both exchanged glances for a few seconds. I waited until they were done.“Y–yes, ma’am,” the doctor finally answered. “What did he tell you?”“He said you both had a little misunderstanding last night,” he explained carefully.“And?”“You became emotional and left the room. While going downstairs, you suddenly collapsed.”What the fuck? My eyes snapped to Darius instantly. “He lied to you,” I said immediately. “Darius shoved me onto this bed and grabbed me by the neck. He tried to kill me. He didn't say a word. Not a single reaction. “Can’t you see the marks on my neck?” I asked bitterly. The doctor hesitated. That tiny pause alone told me everything. Oh. He knew. For a moment, I couldn’t even speak. I just stared at the ceiling, feeling completely helpless. The doctor knew what Darius had done. And he still stood there pretending everything was normal. “You knew that, didn’t you?” I asked. The doctor didn’t react. I let out a short laugh. “Alright,” Darius

  • The Billionaire’s Pretend Wife    The Day I Almost Died

Arielle Darius snapped out of it and released me instantly. He stepped back slowly like he’d only just realized what he’d done. Darius stared at his hands for too long. I coughed violently the second his grip loosened. My lungs burned so badly that I rolled off the bed and hit the floor beside it. I couldn’t breathe properly. Every cough scratched my throat raw like broken glass was lodged inside it. My chest tightened painfully while tears streamed uncontrollably down my face. What the fuck just happened? Just hours ago, he had been buying me jewelry. Carrying shopping bags. Acting almost normal. Now he’d nearly killed me. My fingers trembled slightly against my neck as I kept coughing. I could still feel the imprint of his hand around my throat. Then the door opened. “I apologize for barging in, sir. I thought someone was in trou–“ The voice stopped abruptly. A familiar voice. Darius paced backward frustratingly, dragging his hands through his ha

Arielle “What are you doing here?” He asked. I ignored him. What was he doing in the bags section? Did he come with Amber? Oh God. This was bad. I turned quickly, walking away like I hadn’t heard him. But the footsteps behind me followed, steady, and persistent. My mind refused to admit the truth. Emris was following me. Before I could get back to Darius, a hand grabbed mine and yanked me into a corner. My breath caught. His palm covered my mouth instantly. “Shh.”My heart slammed against my chest. My thoughts scattered in every direction. Why was I even here? Why was he here? And why was Amber here, too? I didn’t like the combo. Slowly, he removed his hand. I tried to step away immediately, but he caught my wrist again. “Would you relax?” He muttered. “Let go of me.” His eyes shifted past me, toward where I’d been heading. Darius. “I’m letting go,” he said quietly. “You don’t need to run. I just want to talk.”I stayed still, breathing unevenly. “What are you doing

Arielle I’d barely spent a week in his house. And yet, everything already felt too deep. Too planned. What could this possibly be about? What had my mother done this time? My chest tightened as I leaned closer to the door, trying to catch every word. “Your father buried this years ago,” Lisa said. “Why bring it up now?” “Mother,” Darius replied, controlled. “I have work to do–“ I didn’t hear the rest. I tiptoed downstairs quickly, forcing my face into something normal. By the time I reached the living room, I was already seated. Legs crossed, posture straight, like I had been there all along. When Lisa appeared, I stood immediately, smiling. “Oh…you’re leaving already?” “Yes, my darling,” she said warmly. “I’m sorry, we’ll talk another time.” “Aww,” I said, feigning disappointment. “I just told Ryan to prepare something for you before you leave.” The lie slipped out easily. She touched my shoulder gently. “Next time.” I held the smile until she walked o

Arielle Could this be it? Could this be the only way to beat Darius? Through his mother. The last time at the office, he had tried to avoid her. I thought it meant fear. Weakness. Something I could use. Now…I wasn’t so sure. “There’s my son,” her voice rang through the house as she walked in like she owned every inch of it. Darius’s hand slipped away from mine instantly as if I’d burned him. I froze. She rushed forward and pulled him into a hug. I waited for tension or resistance. I waited for something. Turns out he was a mama’s boy. “Hey, mother,” he said calmly. Calmly. I stood by the stairs, watching. The staff had gone still again, like statues trained not to react. “Joel stopped me at the door,” she said, laughing lightly. “Imagine that. He wouldn’t let me in.”Darius chuckled along as he glanced at Joel behind her. Somehow, Joel understood him and walked outside. “How are you?” Darius asked. “I’m fine. And you?”“I’m living.”Darius chuckled again. Her eyes drif

Arielle “Arielle, I can’t let you do this,” Tiffany said firmly. “You’re not accepting that son of a bitch’s deal just because he’s forcing you to.”Tessa clearly didn’t want me to either. Arielle Darius's eyes stayed on me, unblinking, as if he was waiting for something to fall from my lips. The silence between us stretched, thick and heavy, broken by only the hum of the engine and the faint rush of the wind against the windows. I folded my hands in my lap, staring s
