The first thing I look for as I enter my room is my phone. It was still on the vanity table. 13 missed calls from dad and a text from an unknown number. “Don’t be stupid” this time, from the real Zion. I immediately start gathering my things. My life has taken a dangerous turn in the last few hours, I am just on autopilot. The look on father’s face when he saw Nate, (oh, I found out his name from father’s lips) was of pure fear. So, he was right. We were in a lot of soup. Who was this man? I picked up my phone and searched for Nate Scot. His name and face popped up, but Zion was also in the picture. There were so many headlines. “Nate Scot dead?” “Who is to takeover Scot Holdings?” “Zion Scot takes over Scot Holdings twenty four hours after his brother’s death” “Nate Scot back from the dead” I clicked on that. Two years ago, Nate Scot who had been announced dead showed up, and his company, became rival to none. “Rumored to have business in the underworld”, read a particular piece. “What is this?” I threw my phone on the bed and sobbed. At this point, I think I might be running out of bodily fluid. “What have you done?” Father demanded, coming into my room. “You tell me” I challenged back. I didn’t know where this new morale was coming from, I’m guessing it’s from the adrenaline of today’s events, and being tossed around like a football by everybody. “What were you thinking? Doing business with a man who is rumored to be criminal?” I asked “I had no idea it was him, until it all came crashing down” Father sighed. “And we don’t know it’s a criminal. It’s just a rumor” he murmured. “He is going to ruin us. His plan is to take Zion down, and everything else. He won’t spare us” Father noted I shrugged and continued packing. “We didn’t do anything to him” “We cannot take any chances” he muttered. Why was he whispering? He always spoke as if the world listened to his every word. “You should have stood your ground” he stated flatly. “And we’d all be on the streets by now. You, in jail” I remarked dryly. I felt fear from the tone of Father’s voice. The power and prestige of old money had always given him boldness, but now, he was scared. Who was Nate? And what exactly had he gotten himself into? “Listen to me, dear girl” he said, holding my shoulders so I look up at him. “Your duty is to your family, always. If I go down, we all go down. Your mother, your sister and you” Now, I was scared. “You need to play your role well. Win his love, win his confidence, play a good wife. And then, when he is most vulnerable, we strike.” “How do you expect him to trust me?” “Not now, but eventually. You must be a good pretend wife to him. You and I, we are on Zion’s team.” “This is dangerous” I sobbed. “Then you better be smart.” Father straightened himself and put back his facade of control. “Hurry now, Nate will not be kept waiting”. I couldn’t sleep. How could I? All I could think of was father and Nate and Zion. Was I really on Zion’s team? Can I really trust him? Nate seemed like the kind of man not to mess around. How do I win his trust? I stepped out of the bed and strolled in the hallway. Everything was elegant, and simple, like my style. Is this who he is? A simple man but hard and complicated to the world? The door was slightly open. I could see him staring at the moon from his window, smiling a cigarette. I knocked once. “What?” He looked at me, irritated. What was I doing? Why am I here? How am I supposed to win the favour of a man who is disgusted by the very sight of me? I cleared my throat and stepped inside. I can do this. I’ve always played pretend my entire life, this isn’t different. “I wanted to know if you need me” “For what?” He asked again, irritation rising in his voice. “To consummate our marriage” I almost puked.Simone Green eyes, sharp with something….hate, disgust, or something else I still cannot name stared at me, rooting my feet to the ground. Casually, like he didn’t just catch me ogling him, he took off his buds and turned around to look at me. Now, it wasn’t his reflection I was seeing, and even though I hate to admit it, the man was endowed. “What?” He asked, disgust evident in his voice. It seems I have disturbed his personal space, and it gave me some level of satisfaction. My life wasn’t the only one in ruins, great! “What did you do?” I asked, marching across the room to stand in front of him. “What?” He asked again, walking away from me to pick up a towel. Like a stray dog, I followed him, haste in my words, “You tell me” “Who gave you the right to block access to our accounts” I asked, my temper rising as adrenaline pumped through me. “Oh, that” he muttered, picking up the bottle of water on the table and opening it to take a sip. “Oh, that?” I asked, my hands on my wa
Simone My eyes fluttered open and the events of yesterday, came rushing back. I had gone into Nate’s room to search it. I couldn’t find anything there, but I tried as much as possible to keep things the way they were. How he knew I had been in his room is still surprising. By any chance, does he have a cctv camera in the house? Instinctively, I looked up, then sideways. My eyes scanned the room, searching for a red light or dot, but nothing. Good, no camera. I mean, how paranoid is he if he has a camera installed in his own house? But something was nagging at me, a feeling I had been trying to not acknowledge. When he had barged into my room, I was ready to answer whatever questions he had, but I couldn’t form a single sentence. It was the way he looked at me, it was there for a second, and then gone in the next. There was something in his eyes, something I couldn’t decipher and it bothered me. The sound of my phone ringing brought me back to reality. “Hey sis” I answered
NateI walked down the hallway heading to her room, and thinking of the best way to handle this. I knew I couldn’t trust her, but I didn’t think it would be this early. I mean, she didn’t even try to get comfortable first. So, she was playing detective now? Funny!! Her door was closed, music softly blaring through the closed door. I turned the knob and was instantly taken aback by what I saw. She was staring at the mirror, her pajamas shirt on the table as she wiped her hair. The only thing covering her ass was her towel. Her eyes instantly widened and she turned around to look at me, “what are you….can’t you knock?” She asked, her voice cracking and rising at the same time. I rested my back on the wall, and folded my hands clearly enjoying the view. Her curly brown hair was all over the place, wet and covering her tiny breasts. I could see a birthmark on top of her right breast, and as she breathed heavily, her hair moved a little out of the way, exposing perfectly round tits.
Nate The room was loud. The speakers boomed with music and the Dj was being extra loud on the mic. “C’mon Nate, drink up” Zion laughed, bringing his glass to his lips. “I’m good” I tell him. I’ve never been one to have too many drinks, and I think two glasses were enough. “You just need inherited an entire empire” Zion mocked, “drink up man”. I stare at him. I know he’s hurt that dad left everything to me. Dad has always questioned Zion’s ability and character. But I was not going to do the same. “Look Zion. You are as much the CEO as I am. You are my brother” He looked at me, displeased. “Since you won’t be drinking, let’s go home” he said. I stood up, leaving the bills on the table. “You go ahead, I need to use the restroom” he tells me. “Be quick” I say. I stood at the entrance waiting for the valet to bring the car over, fumbling with my phone. Everywhere seemed quiet, too quiet for the outside of a night club. I looked up to see there were no bouncers or se
Simone My dress was a simple floral gown, perfect for a family dinner. The neckline was a little low, but it was appropriate. Nate had come home earlier and spat orders about getting ready for a family dinner. He gave me ten minutes. “You took more than ten minutes” Nate hissed as I stepped in the car. I didn’t respond. I didn’t know what to say. The drive took almost an hour, and by the time we arrived, everyone was already seated. “It’s nice to have a new member in the family” Gramps smiled at me. He was old, but he seemed to have control over his body. He wasn’t feeble and everyone on the table seemed to respect him so much. And when I say everyone, I mean, Nate and Zion. “Thank you” I smile sheepishly. It isn’t nice to be in the middle of this war. “How did Nate get to marry you? Zion told me you were his bride” I looked to Nate. How was I supposed to answer that? Tell his grandfather he kidnapped me? And dangled my choices over my head? “It’s okay dear. I know t
Nate She is staring at me, brown eyes that cannot hide the hate it holds. “What is your game?” I ask her. This marriage isn’t what she wants, I bet she would prefer Zion over me. “Nothing.” She states. I walk over to her, dragging on my cigarette. She was short, her head reaching my shoulders. I bent over her and exhaled, smoke forming a wild circle before dissipating in her face. She coughs, but doesn’t shy away. Her stubborn brown eyes meeting mine. This one was tough, maybe I was mistaken about her. “You aim to please, huh?” I teased. “If you wish” Now that I look at her, she was pretty. Her brown eyes complement her brunette hair, that seemed to be all over the place. Her skin was fair and her cheekbones were high. She reeked of old money elegance, and pride. One that she is struggling to hold on to. “I know what you are doing” I circle her. Her nightdress hung loosely on her body, revealing curves that would be tempting to any man. “You want to
