Camilla Varela’s Point of View

I thought starting over would be easy. I even convinced myself that Lucas wasn’t serious when he threatened me the other day. But I was wrong. He meant every word. He made sure I wouldn’t get hired anywhere I applied.

He turned my life into a nightmare. Sometimes, I found myself wondering—can I really do this? Can I really survive without him? Can I stand on my own two feet without relying on anyone?

Right now, I have Cassandra, and that helps. But what if one day she’s no longer around? Where would that leave me? Would I end up with nothing again?

Life is sucks!

As I sat on a chair for another job interview, I felt a flicker of hope — only for it to be crushed almost immediately.

"You’re Mrs. De Luca, right? But why does your resume say Varela?" the HR officer asked, looking at my resume with a puzzled expression.

My heart sank, and the small smile I had disappeared. How long was I going to be seen only as Lucas’s wife? When would people stop tying my identity to him?

"I’ve already divorced him, ma’am. And with all due respect, I think that question is a little too personal," I said, keeping my voice polite but firm.

The HR officer shook her head, clearly unimpressed. She handed my resume back without another glance. "I am sorry but you’re not qualified for the position."

I knew I was qualified. I met every requirement listed in the job posting. But I also knew Lucas was working behind the scenes, making sure I never got the chance to prove myself. It was cruel and exhausting.

Still, I managed a weak smile, thanked her for her time, and left the office with my head held high — even though inside, I felt defeated.

This wasn’t the life I had imagined for myself. If I had known that marrying Lucas would lead me down this painful road… I never would have said yes.

But back then, I was young. Naïve. Blinded by love.

Later that day, I sat on the couch in Cassandra’s condo, watching as she packed her bags for a business trip.

"Camilla, I have a work trip with my boss. You’ll be in charge of the condo while I’m gone, okay?" she said while neatly folding her clothes into a suitcase.

I nodded, but deep down, I felt something heavy in my chest. Sometimes, I couldn’t help but feel sorry for myself. When I looked at Cassandra, I saw a woman with a successful career, earning a good salary, moving forward in life. And me? I had nothing to be proud of. No job. No security. Just endless rejections.

Cassandra suddenly stopped what she was doing and turned to me. "Why don’t you just accept the job my boss is offering?" she asked, giving me a knowing look. "The position is still open, Camilla. Plus Lucas has no power there. No connections. He can’t sabotage you.”

Her words made me pause. Maybe… maybe this was the fresh start I had been looking for.

When Cassandra left for her business trip, I decided to stay in the condo. I didn’t even bother looking for a job anymore — after all, every time I tried, it always ended the same way. Rejection. Disappointment. And I knew exactly who was behind it.

But Cassandra’s words kept running through my mind. She told me to accept the job her boss was offering. It was a really good opportunity — I’d be the head of the finance department, which perfectly matched my education. I graduated with a degree in Accountancy and had plenty of knowledge about business. The position paid well, too.

Should I take the job?

As I sat there thinking, my phone suddenly started ringing from the table. I reached for it quickly, but my heart sank the moment I saw the number on the screen. I didn’t even need the name to know who it was.

I had already deleted Lucas’s number from my phone — but it didn’t matter. His number was still burned into my memory. I hated myself for knowing it so well.

I took a deep breath, trying to keep my emotions in check, and answered the call. “What do you want?” I asked, my voice flat and tired.

“Still holding on, huh, Camilla? When are you going to give up?” Lucas’s voice came through the line, full of arrogance.

I couldn’t stop the bitter smile that formed on my face. “Let me ask you something instead — what exactly do you get out of making my life miserable? When are you going to stop?”

I heard him chuckle quietly — that same mocking laugh that always made my blood boil. “I’ll stop when you finally come back to me. When you beg me to take you back. I’m giving you a chance here, Camilla. Just crawl back to me, and I’ll accept you with open arms.”

That was it — I couldn’t help myself. I laughed. A loud, bitter, genuine laugh. The idea was so ridiculous it was almost funny.

“Me? Crawl back to you? Lucas, even in your dreams, that will never happen. I’ve finally woken up from the nightmare I was living in — and guess what? You were that nightmare. Marrying you was the biggest mistake of my life.” I paused for a moment, trying to steady my voice. “But you know what? I will survive without you. And when I finally do, I promise you — you’ll be the one filled with regret.”

Before he could respond, I ended the call and immediately blocked his number. I wasn’t going to let him have any more power over me.

He really thought I couldn’t live without him. That I’d be lost and helpless without him in my life. But I proved him wrong. I can stand on my own two feet. And that starts right now. I’m taking the job!

When Cassandra returned from her business trip, I immediately told her that I had decided to accept the job offer. She was so happy for me. Without wasting any time, she helped me prepare all the necessary documents and even accompanied me to the company to meet her boss.

"Thank you for accepting my offer, Miss Varela. I know you’ll do great," Mr. Del Castillo said with a warm smile.

Mr. Abdul Del Castillo was my new boss. He owned Del Castillo Tech. He was kind, handsome, and tall — and the shape of his body suited him perfectly. He carried himself with confidence and elegance.

"It’s my pleasure to work for you, Mr. Del Castillo. I promise to do my job well," I replied sincerely, feeling hopeful for the first time in a long while.

"No worries. I trust you, Miss Varela," Mr. Del Castillo said warmly.

Our conversation went well, and after that, Cassandra and I left his office. She accompanied me to the Finance Department to introduce me to my future team.

Cassandra worked as Mr. Del Castillo’s executive assistant.

"Good morning, everyone! May I have your attention, please?" Cassandra called out as we entered the Finance Department floor.

Everyone stopped what they were doing and turned to look at us. Some of them focused their attention on me, so I gave them a polite smile.

"This is Camilla Varela, and she will be your new department head. All your reports, concerns, and questions should go through her. Don’t worry, guys — she’s kind and easy to work with."

"Good morning, Miss Varela! Welcome to our team," one of the employees greeted me warmly.

"Hello, everyone. It’s my pleasure to work with all of you. I hope we’ll have a good working relationship and grow close as a team," I said shyly.

"Aww, Miss Varela’s shy! Don’t be shy, Miss — everyone on this floor is shameless!" someone teased, making the whole team laugh.

I shook my head and smiled at their playful attitude. Turning to Cassandra, I noticed the amused smile on her face, too.

"Thank you, Cass. You can go back to work now," I told her gratefully.

"Yeah, I better get back before the boss turns into a dragon again," she joked, laughing.

She patted my shoulder before walking away, still chuckling.

"Alright, everyone — get back to work. I’ll just set up my workspace," I told the team before heading toward my new office.

As I stepped inside, I took a moment to look around. The office was well-organized and spacious. All it needed now was my personal touch and a few essentials. I figured I could get everything arranged by tomorrow.

Just then, the door opened, and a woman with curly hair walked in, smiling warmly.

"Miss, would you like some coffee?" she offered politely.

I shook my head, smiling back. "No, thank you. By the way, what’s your name?"

"Vanessa Alcantara, ma’am," she replied cheerfully.

"Nice to meet you, Vanessa. Uhmm… before I started here, who was the head of finance? I just want to know."

Vanessa’s face scrunched up a bit as if she was recalling something unpleasant. "Oh, her? She was a bit rude. What was her name again…? Ah! Monique Delos Reyes."

Monique?

Was it… the same Monique who had been my husband’s mistress?

  • The Billionaire's Regret: The Ex-Wife Return with a Baby   Chapter 4

Camilla Varela’s Point of View It had been a few months since I started working at Del Castillo Tech, and I couldn’t be happier with how things were going. My job was fulfilling, and I was finally doing something I loved. On top of that, I was building great relationships with my team. They respected me not just as their leader but as a person — and I truly respected them in return. It felt good to work in a place where I was appreciated and valued. What surprised me the most was how quickly things started falling into place. In just my first month, I received a generous salary — far more than I ever expected. With that, I was able to start saving money and even help Cassandra with the expenses at her condo. It felt amazing to finally stand on my own two feet and contribute in some way. But just when everything seemed perfect, my body decided to betray me. Of all days to get sick, it had to be today — the day of an important meeting with the board members. I couldn’t believe my bad

Camilla Varela’s Point of View As soon as we arrived at Cassandra’s condo, I went straight to my room. My mind was a mess—I couldn’t think clearly. Everything felt like a blur. I couldn’t even recall what the doctor said after hearing the news. Maybe Cassandra paid attention, but I didn’t. My thoughts shut down the moment I heard it.I was still trying to accept the reality—I was pregnant. And to make things even more complicated, my ex-husband was the father. What should I do now? Should I just hide? Maybe I could walk away and make sure Lucas never finds out that I’m pregnant. But for how long could I keep this secret?I shook my head. That wasn’t possible! I couldn’t hide forever. I couldn’t hide my child from him. But what if he finds out? Should I run away again?I sighed deeply and stared at the ceiling, holding my womb gently. “Baby, if your father were a good man, we wouldn’t have to leave him. But he’s not... I’m so sorry, sweetheart. You’ll have to grow up with just Mommy.”

Camilla Varela's Point of View It was already late at night when Cassandra arrived at the condo. I stayed quiet, but inside, I was really scared — not just for myself but also for my baby. At the same time, I couldn’t stop myself from feeling frustrated with my friend. Because of what she did, my life was now in danger. If she hadn’t revealed my ex-husband’s affair, he wouldn’t be threatening me now. "Do you realize that because of what you did, Lucas won’t leave me alone?" I asked, looking straight into her eyes. My voice sounded upset, and I knew she could hear it. "I know you’re worried about me, but I never expected you to do something like that, Cass." Cassandra lowered her head and shook it slowly. "I’m sorry, Camilla. I didn’t really think it through. I just wanted to stand up for you against your ex-husband," she said softly. I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself. "He called me earlier. He thinks I’m the one who spread those rumors. He warned me, Cass — he said

Cassandra Ravamorte’s Point of ViewAs soon as I arrived at my condo, frustration immediately washed over me when I saw Lucas — Camilla’s ex-husband — standing right there. My patience was already running thin. I stopped in my tracks and faced him, my voice sharp with irritation."What are you doing here, Lucas?" I demanded, my arms crossing over my chest. "How many times do I have to tell you that Camilla isn’t here? She already left. She’s gone!"But Lucas just stood there, his expression hard and unconvinced. "I don’t believe you," he said, his tone firm and accusing. "I know she’s inside your condo."I let out a long, tired sigh. This was getting ridiculous. It had been months since Camilla left. Before she went, she left me a letter — a heartfelt one — where she thanked me for everything and apologized for the trouble she’d caused. In that letter, she also told me she was going to Los Angeles and begged me not to tell anyone where she was going. I kept my promise, no matter how m

Cassandra Ravamorte’s Point of View"She’s not here. She already left," I told Camilla's mother sitting on the couch, my voice calm but firm. I studied her face, trying to gauge whether she was telling the truth. "But… why are you only looking for her now?"The woman’s eyes softened with sadness, her shoulders slumping as if the weight of regret had been pressing on them for years. "Believe me, I’ve been searching for her for a long time," she said, her voice trembling. "Someone told me you might know where my daughter is… please, I just want to see her."I felt torn. Should I trust this woman? Should I tell her where Camilla had gone? But I had made a promise — and I wasn’t about to break it.I shook my head slowly, choosing my words carefully. "I don’t know who told you that, but they’re wrong," I said, trying to sound convincing. "I honestly don’t know where Camilla is. Ever since she left here, we haven’t been in touch." That last part was a lie, and I could only hope she wouldn’t

  • The Billionaire's Regret: The Ex-Wife Return with a Baby   Chapter 9 (PART 1)

Camilla Varela’s Point of View It’s been four long years since I walked away from my past and left them behind. Those years weren’t easy for me — in fact, they were some of the hardest times of my life. But despite everything, one thing I’ve always been grateful for is Clint. He’s been by my side through it all. He helped me without asking for anything in return. He never left me — not once — and his support has meant the world to me. Over time, Clint and my daughter, Tamara, grew very close to each other. They share a special bond, and she absolutely adores him. But even at her young age, Tamara already understands that her Uncle Clint isn’t her real father. And besides — for goodness’ sake — Clint is gay. That’s never been a secret. One afternoon, while I was busy preparing food in the kitchen, Tamara came to me with a cute little pout on her face. "Mama, T-Tata is bad," she complained in her sweet, childish voice. The sight of her sulking expression made me smile — she was just t

Clint, being the helpful friend he was, assisted me in arranging the food on the table before we called for Tamara and Yaya Angie to join us.As soon as Tamara sat down, she eagerly dug into her food, eating at a speed that made it seem like someone might take it away from her at any moment. Seeing this, I couldn’t help but gently scold her."Baby, slow down! Camilla Varela’s Point of View “Aunt was right—you really do work here.” I froze mid-step when I spotted Monique lounging on the couch in the building’s lobby. Her expression was sharp, her eyebrow arched as she looked me over with thinly veiled disdain. She rose from her seat and approached me, each step radiating confrontation. “So, are you planning to seduce my boyfriend now?” she asked, her voice laced with accusation. I let out an exasperated sigh at the audacity of her question. Was she seriously accusing me of that? She was the one known for this kind of behavior. “Really, Monique? You’re going to say that to me?” I shot back. “Between the two of us, aren’t you the one with a track record of stealing someone else’s man?” Her eyes narrowed, her stare turning even more hostile, but I didn’t flinch. I simply smiled, calmly meeting her gaze. “You’re the one who stole my husband,” I reminded her. “Well, he’s mine now!” she snapped proudly. “Then keep him. I have

Lucas De Luca’s Point of View I couldn't stop watching her. She sat at her desk, focused intently on her computer screen, her fingers dancing across the keyboard as she worked. I found myself at a loss for words, unsure of how to respond to what she had said earlier. Deep down, I knew she was right. She was absolutely right—I really am just like my mother. I had failed her. I stood by in silence while my mother continuously belittled and insulted her. I acted like a worthless husband, unable—or maybe unwilling—to stand up for her. I allowed other women, the ones I brought into our home, to treat her like she was beneath them. I let all of that happen, and I didn’t protect her when she needed me the most. I sighed quietly, shaking my head as I turned my attention back to my own computer screen. I glanced at the time—it was already 11:00 AM. Almost lunchtime. Should I ask her to grab a bite with me? But what if she said no? Would it just make things more awkward between us? Cle

Camilla Varela's Point of View "What are you doing here in my son's building?" I looked up, startled, at the woman who had just stepped into the elevator I'd only recently entered. My breath caught when I recognized her—it was Lucas's mother, my ex-mother-in-law. Her eyes were sharp, filled with obvious hostility as she glared at me. Never in my wildest thoughts did I imagine we’d run into each other like this. Ever since I told her I was leaving her son, we hadn’t crossed paths. We parted ways with anger and silence, and I honestly thought I’d never see her again. Of course, fate just loves playing games. Perfect timing, really. I shook my head slightly, unable to hide my disbelief. She must’ve noticed, because she immediately snapped at me again. "Why are you shaking your head like that, you piece of trash?" she spat. "Now answer my question. What are you doing here?" Even after all this time, she still sees me as nothing more than garbage. Some things never change. S

Camilla Varela’s Point of View “What?!” Cassandra blurted out, completely shocked after I told her everything that happened earlier at the office. “I honestly thought he recognized Tamara’s voice during that call,” I admitted, leaning back against the couch with a heavy sigh. “But thank God, he didn’t.” I was exhausted. Work had drained me completely. Lucas had been making my life harder than usual—sending me off to do tasks that clearly weren’t part of my job description. Errands, side work, unnecessary meetings… It’s like he’s trying to push me to my limits. “It’s probably for the best that he didn’t realize,” Cassandra replied, her voice slightly wary. “Because if he ever finds out the truth, I swear he won’t let you go that easily. He’ll make your life a living mess. He’d turn your whole world upside down just to get answers.” I gave her a weak smile. I knew she was right—but I didn’t want to talk about him anymore. Not now. Not when I was finally out of the office. “A

Lucas De Luca's Point of View I could feel my jaw tightening as I overheard Camilla speaking with someone on the phone. Her voice sounded unusually sweet and affectionate—way too affectionate for my liking. She kept using pet names like "sweetheart" and "baby," her tone filled with warmth and happiness. It hit a nerve I didn’t know I had. Damn it. Annoyance surged through me so strongly that I didn’t even bother acknowledging her presence. Instead, I walked straight past her without a word and headed into the elevator. I caught a glimpse of her face—she looked visibly startled by my sudden reaction. That made me pause for a second. Why did she look so pale the moment she saw me? What was she so shocked about? Was it because I might’ve heard what she said? Tsk. Suspicious. She nervously asked, "H-have you been there long? D-did you hear all of that?" Her voice was shaky, uncertain. I raised an eyebrow at her, partly confused and mostly irritated. Why would she even ask that?

Camilla Varela's Point of View "Alright, I'll agree to work at your company again," I said, my voice unwavering and cold. "But don’t expect things to go back to how they were." Lucas simply gave me a smug look. "Naturally. You're here for the job, not for anything personal, Camilla." I couldn't help but roll my eyes, irritated by his tone. "Whatever. Just sign the contract now, and I'll make sure it gets sent back to Los Angeles. The company is waiting for it." "There's no need to hurry, my dear ex-wife. We'll get there soon enough," he replied, his smirk widening. "When exactly am I starting?" I asked, trying to stay calm. "You can begin tomorrow as my secretary," he answered without hesitation. It was clear—Lucas was putting me back in the same position I had been in before, as his secretary, just like when we first met. "Alright, I’m leaving now. I’ll be here tomorrow morning—probably even earlier than you," I said as I turned my back on him and started walking towa

I frowned, crossing my arms over my chest. "Lucas, can you stop with your mind games? I have no interest in whatever nonsense you’re up to this time!" His smirk only deepened. "Who said I was playing games, Camilla?" He casually placed his hand on his chin, as if deep in thought, before flashing me another infuriating grin. "Shouldn’t I be the one asking you that question instead?" I let out a frustrated sigh, my patience wearing thin. "Do I look like I’m playing with you?" I shot back. Camilla Varela’s Point of View I chose a simple business outfit—nothing too flashy, just professional enough for the occasion. I applied light makeup, just enough to make me look presentable when meeting with the investors. Even though this was just a contract signing, I couldn’t shake off the nervousness creeping up inside me. Taking a deep breath, I stepped out of the car I had borrowed from Cassandra. I had insisted that Zach didn’t need to pick me up; instead, I told him to just wait for me outside the restaurant. I didn’t want to make a big deal out of this meeting—it was strictly business, nothing more. As I entered the restaurant, a staff member immediately approached me with a polite smile. "Do you have a reservation, Ma’am?" she asked. I gave her a brief nod and replied, "Yes, under Mr. Miller." "Right this way, Ma’am," she said, gesturing for me to follow. She led me through the restaurant toward the reserved table. As we neared, I spotted Zach raising his hand slightly
