Camilla Varela’s Point of View

“Have you lost your mind, Camilla? Why are you divorcing me?” Lucas asked, his voice sharp and angry.

“I’ll go insane if I stay in this marriage, Lucas,” I replied, looking straight into his eyes. “Why are you even surprised? Isn’t this what you wanted from the start? That’s why you kept bringing other women into our house,” I added, making sure to emphasize his affairs.

“Camilla…” He took a deep breath, clearly trying to control his anger. “Go home now, or you’ll regret it. I’m willing to give you a second chance.”

Go home? Second chance?

Coming from him? The man who destroyed our marriage?

I let out a bitter laugh, shaking my head in disbelief. “You want me to go home?” I asked, pointing at myself while still laughing. “You actually think I’d be foolish enough to come back? No, Lucas. Just sign the divorce papers. I’d rather live alone than stay with someone like you. You’ve been the worst nightmare of my life.”

He glared at me, his eyes burning with rage. I saw his jaw tighten, his hands clenching into fists as he took another deep breath. “You’ll come crawling back, Camilla. You’ll beg me to take you back — you can’t survive without me. I’ll give you three days… you’ll see.”

I smirked, completely unfazed by his threats. “You really think too highly of yourself, Lucas. You don’t know me at all.”

I stood up, straightened my clothes, and gave him one last cold, defiant look before walking away.

This café used to be our special place — where we’d sit for hours, sharing our favorite meals and making memories. But now, it was just another reminder of how far we’d fallen.

And Lucas thought I’d ever beg him to take me back? That would never happen even in his fucking dreams.

I walked back into Cassandra’s condo with a big smile on my face. I still couldn’t believe it — I had finally stood up for myself. For the first time, I chose me over my unfaithful husband.

Cassandra noticed right away. “What’s with that smile, Camilla?” she asked, curiosity in her voice.

I shook my head, feeling light and free. “Nothing… I’m just really happy for myself,” I said, my heart swelling with relief.

Cassandra squinted at me, trying to figure out if there was more to it. But when she saw I was genuinely happy, she just shrugged and went back to what she was doing.

After a moment, she spoke again. “So… what did you two talk about? Is he asking you to come back?”

No. He just insulted me.

I smiled, trying to keep things light. “Well… sort of. Lucas was furious. He even asked me if I’d lost my mind just because I told him I wanted a divorce,” I said, shaking my head at the memory. “But then he told me that if I couldn’t stand him anymore, I should just leave the house.”

Cassandra froze, her knife hovering above the vegetables she was chopping. She looked at me with warmth and concern. “Did he insult you? Did he try to make you feel small?” she asked softly.

I nodded, my smile fading a little. “He said… he said I’d come crawling back to him. That I wouldn’t be able to live my life without him.” My voice broke a little, but I pushed the hurt aside.

Cassandra clicked her tongue in frustration. “Ugh, he thinks way too highly of himself!” she said, her eyes flashing with anger. “Don’t let his words get to you, Camilla. I know you — and I know you’re going to live a beautiful, happy life. You’re going to be untouchable, and nothing he says can change that.”

Her words filled me with warmth. For the first time in a long while, I started to believe them.

Days turned into weeks, and I was still searching for a job so I could support myself. I didn’t want to depend on Cassandra for everything. It was already enough that she let me stay at her place — I couldn’t keep burdening her.

The sun was hot, and I wiped the sweat off my forehead as I stood at a waiting shed. In my hands was a folder filled with my credentials — my resume, my certificates — everything I needed for my job interview today at a fast-food chain. I was just waiting for a ride, feeling a mix of nervousness and hope.

But it seemed like fate had other plans because a car I knew all too well suddenly pulled up in front of me. My heart sank. I didn’t even have to see the driver’s face to know who it was. It was him — Lucas — the very person who had hurt me over and over again.

He rolled down his window, his eyes full of arrogance. “I told you, Camilla… you can’t live without me,” he said in a cold, mocking voice. He even shook his head as if he pitied me. “Just look at yourself now… you look pathetic. Like trash.”

His words stung, but I refused to let him see that. I kept my head high and stared at him sharply, hiding the pain I felt inside.

“At least I finally woke up from the nightmare I was living in,” I said, my voice steady. “I’d rather struggle and look like trash than stay with someone who acts like trash.”

The smug smile on his face disappeared in an instant, and his eyes darkened with anger.

“You’ll always be trash in everyone’s eyes,” he spat.

But I just shrugged, refusing to give his words any power. “I don’t care what you or anyone else thinks, Lucas. You’re not part of my life anymore — so stop wasting your time trying to bring me down.”

His face twisted with rage. “I’ll make sure you regret this, Camilla. Your life will be miserable. You’ll never find a job,” he threatened  before speeding off, leaving me standing there — but I refused to let his words break me.

  • The Billionaire's Regret: The Ex-Wife Return with a Baby   Chapter 18

Camilla Varela’s Point of View “Aunt was right—you really do work here.” I froze mid-step when I spotted Monique lounging on the couch in the building’s lobby. Her expression was sharp, her eyebrow arched as she looked me over with thinly veiled disdain. She rose from her seat and approached me, each step radiating confrontation. “So, are you planning to seduce my boyfriend now?” she asked, her voice laced with accusation. I let out an exasperated sigh at the audacity of her question. Was she seriously accusing me of that? She was the one known for this kind of behavior. “Really, Monique? You’re going to say that to me?” I shot back. “Between the two of us, aren’t you the one with a track record of stealing someone else’s man?” Her eyes narrowed, her stare turning even more hostile, but I didn’t flinch. I simply smiled, calmly meeting her gaze. “You’re the one who stole my husband,” I reminded her. “Well, he’s mine now!” she snapped proudly. “Then keep him. I have

Lucas De Luca’s Point of View I couldn't stop watching her. She sat at her desk, focused intently on her computer screen, her fingers dancing across the keyboard as she worked. I found myself at a loss for words, unsure of how to respond to what she had said earlier. Deep down, I knew she was right. She was absolutely right—I really am just like my mother. I had failed her. I stood by in silence while my mother continuously belittled and insulted her. I acted like a worthless husband, unable—or maybe unwilling—to stand up for her. I allowed other women, the ones I brought into our home, to treat her like she was beneath them. I let all of that happen, and I didn’t protect her when she needed me the most. I sighed quietly, shaking my head as I turned my attention back to my own computer screen. I glanced at the time—it was already 11:00 AM. Almost lunchtime. Should I ask her to grab a bite with me? But what if she said no? Would it just make things more awkward between us? Cle

Camilla Varela's Point of View "What are you doing here in my son's building?" I looked up, startled, at the woman who had just stepped into the elevator I'd only recently entered. My breath caught when I recognized her—it was Lucas's mother, my ex-mother-in-law. Her eyes were sharp, filled with obvious hostility as she glared at me. Never in my wildest thoughts did I imagine we’d run into each other like this. Ever since I told her I was leaving her son, we hadn’t crossed paths. We parted ways with anger and silence, and I honestly thought I’d never see her again. Of course, fate just loves playing games. Perfect timing, really. I shook my head slightly, unable to hide my disbelief. She must’ve noticed, because she immediately snapped at me again. "Why are you shaking your head like that, you piece of trash?" she spat. "Now answer my question. What are you doing here?" Even after all this time, she still sees me as nothing more than garbage. Some things never change. S

  • The Billionaire's Regret: The Ex-Wife Return with a Baby   Chapter 15

Camilla Varela’s Point of View “What?!” Cassandra blurted out, completely shocked after I told her everything that happened earlier at the office. “I honestly thought he recognized Tamara’s voice during that call,” I admitted, leaning back against the couch with a heavy sigh. “But thank God, he didn’t.” I was exhausted. Work had drained me completely. Lucas had been making my life harder than usual—sending me off to do tasks that clearly weren’t part of my job description. Errands, side work, unnecessary meetings… It’s like he’s trying to push me to my limits. “It’s probably for the best that he didn’t realize,” Cassandra replied, her voice slightly wary. “Because if he ever finds out the truth, I swear he won’t let you go that easily. He’ll make your life a living mess. He’d turn your whole world upside down just to get answers.” I gave her a weak smile. I knew she was right—but I didn’t want to talk about him anymore. Not now. Not when I was finally out of the office. “A

Lucas De Luca's Point of View I could feel my jaw tightening as I overheard Camilla speaking with someone on the phone. Her voice sounded unusually sweet and affectionate—way too affectionate for my liking. She kept using pet names like "sweetheart" and "baby," her tone filled with warmth and happiness. It hit a nerve I didn’t know I had. Damn it. Annoyance surged through me so strongly that I didn’t even bother acknowledging her presence. Instead, I walked straight past her without a word and headed into the elevator. I caught a glimpse of her face—she looked visibly startled by my sudden reaction. That made me pause for a second. Why did she look so pale the moment she saw me? What was she so shocked about? Was it because I might’ve heard what she said? Tsk. Suspicious. She nervously asked, "H-have you been there long? D-did you hear all of that?" Her voice was shaky, uncertain. I raised an eyebrow at her, partly confused and mostly irritated. Why would she even ask that?

Camilla Varela's Point of View "Alright, I'll agree to work at your company again," I said, my voice unwavering and cold. "But don’t expect things to go back to how they were." Lucas simply gave me a smug look. "Naturally. You're here for the job, not for anything personal, Camilla." I couldn't help but roll my eyes, irritated by his tone. "Whatever. Just sign the contract now, and I'll make sure it gets sent back to Los Angeles. The company is waiting for it." "There's no need to hurry, my dear ex-wife. We'll get there soon enough," he replied, his smirk widening. "When exactly am I starting?" I asked, trying to stay calm. "You can begin tomorrow as my secretary," he answered without hesitation. It was clear—Lucas was putting me back in the same position I had been in before, as his secretary, just like when we first met. "Alright, I’m leaving now. I’ll be here tomorrow morning—probably even earlier than you," I said as I turned my back on him and started walking towa
