Chapter 30

I did look okay, though a little flushed.

The ballroom was only half full when I arrived. I made my way back to the table and found a drunk James waiting for me. He was saying his goodbyes to the only couple left at our table and who desperately tried to pull themselves away from James’ clutches.

It would seem that James was an emotional drunk. I said my goodbyes before they escaped. I sat down next to James.

He looked at me and frowned.

“Tonight was a bust!” he exclaimed, defeated.

“Why is that?”

“I didn’t even get so much as a wink, let alone an ass grope,” he harrumphed.

“Sweety, he was too busy to do that.”

“Is it too much to ask for the sexiest man alive to get out and mingle with people? How else am I ever going to get a chance to grope his ass?”

“Really?” I chuckled.

“Shush. Where have you been?” he said seriously.

“I was kissing the sexiest man alive,” I whispered into his ear.
