Chapter Two

There was a massive crowd in the area waiting for Hazel De Valle and his actress fiancee

"Let's sit somewhere and wait for them, I'm sure we might have that opportunity for the autograph," Stella said and led the kids to a safer place from the crowd, she wondered how on earth they would have that opportunity to speak with actress Joelle but she has to try for the happiness of Melvin.

Soon, they sighted a convoy and Melvin jumped up in joy, "they are coming"

"Mom, I want to pee" Maris, Stella's daughter interrupted

"Oh sweetie, can't you hold it? They are already here"

Maris scrunched up her nose, "I can't hold it any more mom, I need to pee now"

"Oh dear", Stella replied in confusion, she gazed at Melvin

"Come on Melvin, let's go with Maris to pee"

"No way Aunt Stella, they are almost here, I can't leave now" Melvin replied 

"Mom, it almost coming out" Maris shouted, she was already on the brink of tears

"Alright baby, let's go and look for a restroom" She stared at Melvin sternly, "Make sure you stay put, do not go anywhere"

Without waiting for her reply, she dashed off with Maris.

Melvin stared in awe as her mother's idol stepped out of the car with Hazel, she was even more beautiful physically than in the movies

The crowd cheered wildly as she stepped out in style from the car and held onto her fiance's arm

"Today is the commissioning of one of the branches of the biggest car-producing company in the country, De Valle's corporation, and the CEO, accompanied by his fiancee, is already here. You can see the massive crowd that turned up to watch this event...." The reporters were saying and Melvin forgot about staying put and rushed forward.

Hazel De Valle did not waste time in his speech and cutting the ribbons, the crowd went wild, most of them were fans of Joelle and they wanted to get a piece of her while some of the women were drooling over Hazel

Melvin stared around and frowned when there was no sign of Aunt Stella, "they'll leave soon" he muttered and decided not to wait for her, he weaved his way through the crowd but suddenly, there was a stampede as Hazel and Joelle were led to their car, someone pushed Melvin and the more she tried to get to them, the more pushes he got.

Melvin tried to get away from the crowd but got stamped on, in the commotion, he was pushed violently and he fell close to Hazel's car and banged his head on the hard floor and everything went blank.

Hazel was about to enter his car when he sighted the little kid who was already bleeding profusely and unconscious, he gazed around and quickly went to the child

"Who is the mother of this child?" He yelled as he lifted the unconscious child in his arms but no one stepped forward to claim the child.

Hazel frowned, if this child bleeds more than this he will surely die, his tuxedo was already soaked with blood

"Hurry, drive to the hospital" he ordered his driver and stared at Joelle, "You have to go home with Nathan" Without another word to her, he entered his car and the driver zoomed off.

Hazel stared at the little child lying unconscious on his leg, what kind of parent would leave a child all alone in a crowd like that? He wondered angrily, they must be one hell of a careless parent

"Mother!" The boy suddenly called out in his subconsciousness 

"Hush! You'll be fine" he mouthed, for the first time, he noticed that the child's hand was clenched around a photo and Hazel gently pried it off from his hand

He frowned as he gazed at the picture of a lady with long dark hair and turquoise eyes. Even in the picture, she was looking too thin and her eyes looked tired.

A picture of Joelle has been carved out from a magazine clipping and carefully attached to the picture, it was obvious that the kid wanted an autograph from Joelle.

Soon, the driver parked in front of Orleans' hospital and Hazel rushed in with the child in his arms 

"Mother" Melvin kept muttering over and over again in his subconsciousness

"Where is his mother? Her attention is needed"

"I don't know anything about her, I don't even know the kid, I found him already severely injured and unconscious"

The doctor tried to revive Melvin and placed oxygen on him, "we have to contact his mother soon, he is losing a lot of blood"

Melvin's eyes fluttered open, "Mom, I want my mom....her number...in my pocket" Melvin muttered and stared at Hazel,

"Please don't go" he murmured and his eyes fluttered closed while holding on to Hazel's hand.

The doctor quickly checked his pocket and saw a small notebook that contained a few numbers and sighed in relief when they saw his mother's number clearly written there.

Anabelle picked up her bag to go home, grateful that she was done for the day, she had a lot of preparations to do for her son's birthday

"Going somewhere?" She jerked at her voice

"Yes Sir.... I am done for today"

"Did you just say done? How about the files of the Rohan company that I asked you to compile, they are supposed to be in my office"

Anabelle almost groaned aloud, that file would take her at least another hour or two to compile, "Sir... please can I do it tomorrow? Today is my son's birthday and I want to be there"

"I don't care about your son's birthday, he can freaking celebrate it next year for all I care, I need that file in my office today or you're fired" her boss snarled and stomped off

"It's okay Ana, I can help you with it and you can go" her colleague Julia offered and Anabelle stared at her gratefully

"Are you sure?"

"Of course I am, go on and celebrate your son's birthday"

Anabelle quickly hugged Julia, "Thank you so much" She picked up the files from her desk and handed them to Julia before rushing off the office.

She just got out of the elevator, excited about the gift she has bought for her son, he will so love it

Her phone rang and she smiled when Stella's number displayed, "Hello Stella, I just left the office, I will be there shortly"

"Hello Ana, I...."

Anabelle frowned and removed her phone a fraction from her ears to stare at another call that was coming in, it was an unknown number, so she placed her phone right back in her ears

"I have to go, Stella, I'll call you back" She quickly hung up on her before she could say anything more and picked up the unknown number

"Hello, calling from Orleans Hospital"

Anabelle frowned and her heartbeat shot up a bit, why should she be getting a call from the hospital?

"I want you to come to Orleans' hospital right away, your son was involved in an accident"

Anabelle's heart stopped beating for a moment, Melvin was in an accident? She ran frantically across the road to get a taxi, there were angry honks of cars as she narrowly escaped being knocked down by one but she didn't care, the only thought on her mind was getting to her son.

Anabelle ran into Orleans Hospital, her eyes were desperate as she dashed to the counter, "Hello, I got a call from the hospital that my son was in an accident"

"The nurse stared at her, "Oh! You're the boy's mother, just move to the unit by the left"

Anabelle didn't wait for her to finish before she dashed off

She found Melvin lying on the bed with his eyes closed, his head was wrapped with a bandage, she whimpered and dashed toward him

"Are you the boy's mother?" She heard a deep baritone ask from beside Melvin, in her worry for her son, she hadn't noticed the fig

ure seated beside her son

Slowly, she raised her head to behold Hazel De Valle and her heart dropped to her feet.
