Chapter 5: Taking Home

"So what's wrong with that? Aren't we in the same class? That means we're all friends, right?" Derrick said casually.

Alea was shocked. She kept her mouth shut, not knowing how to comment on Derrick's words. Alea couldn't possibly dare to argue with Derrick because Derrick's social status was the same as her.

She didn't want to get into trouble with the young man because she didn't want the big name of her family to be dragged into it. Therefore Alea could only stomp her feet in annoyance before stepping away from the area.

Derrick heaved a sigh of relief after the girl was finally out of sight. The man with blonde hair turned to Vesa, "Vesa, I'll take you home. I'll call the repair shop person to take care of your car. When it's done, it will be delivered directly to your house."

Vesa was surprised because this he thought was very strange. It was a rare thing for Derrick White to want to talk to him, because the son from a rich family almost never wanted to talk to people from the lower classes like himself.

However, this time Derrick not only talked to him, but also wanted to take her home.

Was he dreaming? Or Was Derrick thinking insane and doing things that never he did? Vesa began to wonder to himself.

He then said, "Derrick. Are you doing this because of your watch? Well, I'm fine. You know, you don't have to do anything. I'm just doing what I can do."

Derrick nodded, "I know. But I just wanted to try to do a good thing. Is that wrong?"

Derrick then took Vesa to his car. Vesa could only chuckle in awe when he saw the luxury car, which was of course a limited edition. The black car has a unique design.

"Come on up," Derrick said.

Vesa blinked, "Seriously? Can I go up?"

Derrick knew Vesa was surprised so he then said, "Yeah. Didn't I say I was going to take you? You think I'm joking?"

Vesa was still silent.

Derrick repeated, "Get on!"

Vesa rather nervously got into the car and sat down beside Derrick. Derrick started his car engine. Vesa felt a little uncomfortable but he tried to calm herself down.

"Where do you live?" Derrick asked.

"Wilmslow," Vesa said.

Derrick looked thoughtful for a moment, "Near Didsbury Medical Center?"

"You're right," Vesa replied again.

Derrick nodded and kept driving until he got to Vesa's house. Derrick also got out of the car when he arrived at Vesa's house.

"Thank you. I'm sorry to bother you," Vesa said.

Derrick didn't know how to respond to those remarks because he was actually the one who should be thanking the young man. So Derrick just smiled faintly before then left the house.

Vesa shook his head as if he had just hit a jackpot. He never thought that a young man like Derrick would take him home.

"Vesa, where's your car? Why did you come home with your friend? And why didn't your friend stop by first?" Thomas Miller bombarded his grandson with many questions at once.

"Grandpa, let me explain slowly okay?" Vesa then sat in the living room with his grandfather who was seen drinking his coffee in the middle of the night.

Vesa did not ask the child who was still not asleep, because it was clear that his grandfather must be waiting for him to come home. Vesa knew how much his grandparents loved his so he could understand how they were so worried about him.

"Grandpa, my car broke down. I turned it on so I just left the car in the building earlier and my friend took me home. You don't have to worry because my friend has promised to fix the car and return it here tomorrow," Vesa explained.

Thomas Miller replied, "You have such good friends? Didn't you say all your friends were always bullying you?"

Vesa nodded.

"He's not a friend like you mean, Grandpa. He's just an ordinary friend and not like my best friend. He also used to give me and even insulted me but I know he is good to me now," Vesa said.

Vesa wasn't lying because Derrick had also bullied him several times and even insulted his status as one of the recipients of a scholarship at the University of Greenwich.

Thomas looked at his grandson with worried eyes for fear that his grandson would be hurt.

"Don't trust others too much because he could just pretend to be nice to you to bully you again. He ...."

Vesa seemed to know what his grandfather was thinking so he said, "Grandpa, I know. I know right. Derrick is just returning the favor to me and I'm sure tomorrow he'll be back to normal. Calm down, Grandpa. I won't think too much about it and stay alert as usual."

Vesa then went upstairs and into his room. The young man took off his coat and then threw himself on his bed.

Vesa would be lying if he didn't think about Derrick's kindness. To be honest he had a little hope that Derrick would actually treat him like a friend. This was because Vesa really didn't have any friends in his class.

He was always alone when he set foot on campus. He did have some friends who went to different faculties but they were not very close, but his grandfather's words made him realize that it was impossible a son from a rich family like Derrick White would want to be friends with him.

He suddenly wondered if his father had also felt how he felt. Vesa really wanted to know about his father's life which he never knew.

"Dad, how was your life really? Why don't you ever talk about your life? I'm your son, right? Why don't I know much about you at all?" Vesa murmured.

The man then fell asleep.

In the morning, he went to campus as usual by bus. The man arrived at his campus and went straight to his class. He always greeted all the lecturers he met on the street and that's what made so many lecturers like the young man.

Because in addition to having a very intelligent brain that made him get the highest score in every course taken, Vesa was known as a student who had a good attitude.

Unfortunately, it was also what made a lot of students did not like it. They even accused the young man of only pretended to be good students in front of the lecturers.

Vesa then found his class for his first course and opened the door. He was so shocked when Sebastian Wright pushed him straight away that he fell to the ground. Laughter immediately filled the classroom.

"Well, this is our hero who saved Derrick's watch," Sebastian said in a voice loud enough for everyone to hear him very clearly.

They all laughed at Vesa.

Vesa got up and then he looked at Sebastian lazily.

"Hey, you challenge me? You dare?" Sebastian said as he glared at Vesa.

Vesa shook his head.

"Can't you tell a person's expression apart?" Vesa said and he looked lazily at Sebastian again.

"What do you mean?" Sebastian no longer held back his anger and snapped at him.

"What I mean is I'm not challenging you but I'm giving you a lazy look at what you just did," Vesa replied casually and he passed the increasingly angry young man towards one of the empty seats.

"Hey, stop!" Sebastian shouted.

Vesa kept walking and then sat down on one of the benches instead. He ignored Sebastian completely causing Sebastian to scream, "What do you want, huh? How dare you ignore me? Who do you think you are, huh?"

Vesa calmly replied, "Oh my gosh, you don't know who I am? I'm Vesa Araya, one of the students here."

Sebastian's face immediately turned red with anger so he grabbed Vesa's neck but again Vesa was still staring at him very lazily.

"You want to die, huh?" Sebastian shouted in Vesa's face.

Vesa just closed his eyes.
