Aria barely slept a wink that night. Every subtle creak of the floorboards and every rustle of the wind against the grand mansion's windows made her heart leap into her throat. She spent the entire night curled up on the massive king-sized bed, wearing a modest satin nightgown she had found in the walk-in closet, constantly staring at the heavy mahogany doors.

Alexander never returned to the bedroom.

When the soft morning light finally spilled through the sheer floor-to-ceiling curtains, Aria slowly sat up, rubbing her tired eyes. Her body ached from the sheer emotional exhaustion of the previous day.

Before she could fully gather her thoughts, a soft knock echoed through the room, and the door swung open. A middle-aged woman in a crisp maid’s uniform stepped inside, pushing a silver rolling cart laden with fresh coffee, pastries, and a warm breakfast spread.

"Good morning, Mrs. Vance," the maid said with a polite bow. "I am Mrs. Gable, the head housekeeper. Mr. Vance requested that breakfast be served in your room this morning."

"Thank you, Mrs. Gable," Aria replied softly, giving her a gentle, polite smile. "You really didn't have to go through all this trouble."

Mrs. Gable paused, her hands freezing mid-air as she set down a cup of hot porcelain coffee. She looked at Aria with a flicker of genuine surprise in her eyes. In all the times Brianna had visited the estate prior to the wedding, she had never once thanked the staff, let alone offered a warm smile.

"It is no trouble at all, ma'am," Mrs. Gable said quickly, recovering her composure and adjusting her apron. "Mr. Vance is currently in the dining room down the hall reviewing his morning brief. He expects you to join him for a formal sit-down breakfast in twenty minutes."

"Oh... of course," Aria said, her pulse quickening again.

Once the housekeeper left, Aria rushed into the lavish marble bathroom to wash her face and change into a simple, elegant beige dress from the closet. She kept her makeup minimal, pulling her soft brown hair back into a loose, sophisticated bun.

She took a deep breath to steady her nerves before stepping out into the long hallway. Guided by the faint clinking of silverware, she found her way to the formal dining room.

The dining room was massive, featuring a long polished oak table. At the far end sat Alexander, looking effortlessly handsome in a crisp gray suit, his dark hair neatly styled. He was reading a financial newspaper while sipping black coffee, radiating a quiet power that filled the entire room.

Hearing her soft footsteps, Alexander folded his newspaper and set it down on the table. His sharp obsidian eyes locked onto her, scanning her simple attire and fresh, makeup-free face.

"Good morning, Alexander," Aria said quietly, taking a seat two chairs away from him to maintain a safe distance.

Alexander raised an eyebrow, his eyes glinting with amusement. "Good morning. You look... unusually refreshed for someone who spent the entire night staring at the bedroom door."

Aria froze, her fork hovering mid-air. "You... you knew?"

"I have security cameras in the hallway, my dear," Alexander said smoothly, taking a slow sip of his coffee. "I know everything that happens in my house."

He leaned forward, resting his elbows on the polished table, his heavy gaze fixing entirely on her trembling form. "And I certainly know when my new wife is acting entirely out of character."

Aria felt a cold sweat break out across her neck. "I'm just tired, Alexander. There's nothing more to it."

Alexander stood up slowly, the chair scraping softly against the polished floorboards. He walked around the long table until he was standing directly behind her chair. Leaning down, he placed both hands on the armrests, effectively trapping her in place. His faint, expensive cologne filled her senses.

"Is that so?" Alexander murmured, his warm breath fanning against her ear. "Then why do you shrink away every time I step closer? The Brianna I know would have demanded a black card or threatened to throw a glass by now."

Aria gripped her napkin tightly under the table, forcing herself to look up into his piercing dark eyes. "Maybe I realized that throwing tantrums doesn't work on you."

A slow, dangerous smirk touched the corner of Alexander’s lips. "Smart girl. But remember, Aria—or whoever you are trying to be—you are in my world now. In this house, you answer to me."

He straightened up, buttoned his suit jacket, and checked his luxury watch. "I have a board meeting to attend. A driver will take you to the Vance Financial headquarters at three o'clock for our official public announcement."

Before she could object, Alexander turned and walked out of the dining room, his heavy footsteps echoing down the grand hallway.

The morning sun filtered through the floor-to-ceiling windows of the Vance estate, casting a warm golden light over the breakfast table. Despite the successful counter-strike against Aegis Holdings, the air was still thick with the lingering threat of Dominic Vance's imminent return.Aria sat across from Alexander, sipping her coffee while browsing through the financial morning briefs on her tablet. Page after page praised the sudden rebound of Vance Financial's stock index, attributing the stability to the newly fortified merger between the Sterling Group and Vance Financial."The press is eating it up," Aria remarked, looking up at Alexander with a faint smile. "They're calling the Sterling trust buyback a brilliant defensive play."Alexander looked up from his cup, his dark obsidian eyes warm as he studied her. "It was a brilliant play. And the board members who were leaning toward Dominic are suddenly having second thoughts."Before Aria could reply, Marcus walked into the din

The dark velvet skies over Zurich were just beginning to brighten as the European financial exchanges opened. Inside Alexander’s private home study, the dim lights of multiple computer screens illuminated the room, casting a soft blue glow over Aria’s determined face.Sitting beside Alexander at the polished wooden desk, Aria watched the live market charts intently. Millions of dollars were shifting across global accounts in real-time, appearing as rapid fluctuations in red and green numbers."Aegis Holdings just submitted their first buy order," Marcus reported from the corner of the room, his fingers flying across his laptop keyboard. "They are attempting to absorb twelve thousand shares of Vance Financial through their Zurich proxy."Alexander leaned back in his leather executive chair, his expression calm, calculated, and dangerously poised. He glanced at Aria, a faint smirk touching his lips."Execute the Sterling trust counter-buy," Alexander commanded smoothly.Aria didn't

The atmosphere inside Alexander’s private office was suffocatingly tense. Heavy raindrops began to streak down the floor-to-ceiling glass windows, blurring the shimmering lights of the city skyline below.Aria stood by the glass coffee table, her eyes darting across the financial diagrams and flowcharts Marcus had spread out. The paper trail was intricate, a web of offshore accounts, shell corporations, and coded wire transfers designed to obscure a single entity's gradual accumulation of Vance Financial stock."Dominic Vance isn't just buying shares," Aria said softly, leaning down to trace a finger along one of the foreign bank routes. "He’s short-selling through third-party brokers while simultaneously buying up voting rights under dummy corporations. He’s deliberately trying to manipulate a panic before the next board vote."Alexander, who was leaned against the edge of his mahogany desk with his arms folded across his chest, looked at her with a blend of intense focus and admi

The boardroom fell into an uneasy, suffocating silence. The executive officers lowered their eyes, sensing the sudden, lethal shift in the air, though none of them dared to ask what was in the leather binder Marcus had handed to Alexander.Alexander slowly closed the folder. His face was an unreadable mask of cold stone, but Aria could see the subtle muscle ticking in his jaw. His knuckles were white against the dark leather."That will be all for today, gentlemen," Alexander commanded smoothly, his voice deep and icy. "The operations report for the next quarter will be reviewed by tomorrow morning. Dismissed."The executives didn't linger. They quickly gathered their files, offered brief nods of respect, and filed out of the room until only Alexander, Aria, and Marcus remained inside the massive suite. The moment the thick double doors clicked shut, Aria turned to Alexander, her hazel eyes filled with concern. She reached out, resting her soft hand over his tense forearm."Alexa

The morning rain had finally given way to a clear, crisp sky over the city. Inside the master suite of the Vance estate, the soft golden light filled the room, bringing a sense of quiet tranquility that Aria had never experienced before. She stood in front of the full-length mirror, adjusting the collar of her silk blouse. The reflection looking back at her was no longer that of a nervous, desperate woman pretending to be someone else. She was Aria Sterling—recognized, respected, and deeply loved by the man who was currently standing right behind her.Alexander stepped up to her, his long arms sliding around her waist from behind. He pulled her flush against his chest, resting his chin lightly on her shoulder as his dark obsidian eyes met hers in the glass."You look beautiful," Alexander murmured, his deep voice carrying a tender warmth that still made Aria’s heart skip a beat.Aria smiled, placing her hands over his on her waist. "I was just thinking about how much everything ha

The morning sun broke through the dissipating storm clouds, flooding the grand study of the Vance estate with golden light. The quiet mansion felt completely different today—no longer a gilded cage, but a true home filled with warmth and quiet comfort.Aria sat behind the large mahogany desk, looking at the finalized legal documents spread out before her.Sitting across from her was Alexander, looking relaxed with the sleeves of his crisp white dress shirt rolled up to his forearms. On the corner of the desk sat two hot mugs of coffee, their steam rising lazily into the warm air."This is the official separation deed for Brianna," Alexander explained softly, gesturing to the first document. "She signed it two hours ago from the countryside estate. In exchange for her monthly stipend, she has legally waived all rights to the Sterling Group shares, the Vance family alliance, and any claim to your public identity."Aria picked up the document, her eyes tracing Brianna’s signature at
